Sorta reminds me of the marvel 2099 comics as well, the idea that the avengers did so much just for things to go downhill anyways due to corruption and corporate greed is something I believe the 2099 series of comics touched on often.
Captain America in this story reminds me of the old WW2 vet in a Veterans Day Parade yelling at people in the crowd calling vets murders. And the old vet saying he didn't fight for this, and that he wants a gun to shoot the ingrates
@@aegis6485 the crowd were literally brainwashed liberals that thought the US should've tried harder in peace talks with Hitler and talk the Allies into stopping the war

An idea about James. He feels pulled to be his father, but is a coward. This dissonance causes him to twist heroes into an evil thing, so he can feel good about not being one, hiding his cowardice behind a wall of justification.
I'm not sure comparing Captain American to Col. Jessup from A Few Good Man is a good comparison. Jessup was a stern, uncompromising, and authoritative Marine Corps officer who believed his duty included hurting/mistreating his own men to achieve his goals while (in this story) Cap is more concern with revisionist histories that insult the memory of his friends and allies and present a false narrative of past events. While they both might be take umbrage with a line of questioning, they do so for completely different reasons.

Great read through Rob! Yea, the story line of an old "hero" come back to life has been done before, but not as it would be for America's greatest hero! Can't wait for the next video...

James was really playing softball calling out how the heroes acted like villains more than the villains sometimes. Yeah, Hulk was a founding member of the Avengers. Who waged war against the heroes that one time. Made the whole place a gladiatorial arena. James' dad turned evil. Twice. And he was involved in causing a Civil War between the heroes. Twice. Unrelated to the turning evil thing. Steve worked for Hydra, kinda. We're not even gonna touch on the X-Men. Except Wanda, who is more of an Avenger than an X-Man, and oh boy. James would have a field day with that one...
They did it wrong. He shouldn't even need the machine if he's still basically a big dude. He didn't revert back to a skinny guy. They should have given him the serum and then over time he would have fits of excruciating pain and after that went away he realised he was a little bit stronger, faster, younger. Somehow his body remembered when he was in his prime. At first this would happen few and far between. He'd start helping people street level. Then he'd get another bout of pain in a low level fight and as they were beating him Cap realises the fit didn't last as long and the weapons he was being beaten with felt less damaging. He catches the weapon as it's about to crack him right in the face. Then it's lights out for the bad guys. He realises his back pain from old age isn't there anymore. He realises his reflexes are faster. On and on it goes day after day. One day he looks likes he's reversed back to his 50's. He's taking on bigger and bigger challenges when.... boom... an all out assault against him and it's do or die shoot to kill. Cap has no choice but to run. Dodging bullets behind cars and mailboxes moving citizens out of danger on the way. He feels the pain rushing up.... oh no not now! This is a bad time! This is a big one! it hurts so bad he crashes through a store front window. Soldiers are moving in cautiously. They don't know how but they know Cap is being restored. They get to the window guns drawn. He's gone. They hear crashing in the back of the store. Cap ripped out the ceiling to get to the next level. Cap glances at himself in a broken mirror. The wrinkles are fading. Just then he hears them screaming "He's on the second level surround the building". Cap hit's the fire escape and runs to the top floor as bullets rain down on him from a helicopter. Once he's in and his back to the wall he realises he's been clipped. Pressure in his head starts to build up again.... it's another big one. He puts a brick from the broken building in his hand to cope with the pain. Arrrrrgh! This one only lasted half a minute. When he opens his eyes he finds out the brick has been crushed to dust. He didn't even notice he did it. He needs a way out. Closest building is a big jump. Before he can strategist a back up plan the helicopter starts firing at the building again. He takes cover as bullets fly through the walls around him. His eyes are blood shot and he's showing signs of panic. If he tries to make that jump he could fall to his death. "I need another one!" he knows he needs more "Dammit give me another one NOOOOOOOOOW" He feels the pressure build up .... but a couple seconds later it fades away. Veins popping out of his neck.... sweat dripping from his face and hair.... "I said nooooooooow! boom instant pressure.... crippling tremors... and a ten second recovery. He bolts to the window and gives it all he's got. He doesn't make it to the window he wanted but made it to the next floor down. When he lands he looks up to soldiers pointing guns at him. They were already in the building. More were coming up the stairs. He starts tearing through them like an animal. Breaking legs and arms... killing... this was a fight for survival. He fought more like Logan in his berserker rage than the Captain America everyone once knew. Down the staircase floor after floor with only a slew of crippled bodies left in his wake. Finally he hits the street. You see a top down view of cap bolting down a back street . 100 soldiers chasing him down on foot, in cars and multiple helicopters above. He looks ahead and the street is completely blocked.... he looks behind .... he's trapped. As he's running full tilt he screams eyes bloodshot and bulging, his nose starts bleeding the pressure is more intense than ever before but he's still running.... then he just stops and takes a deep breath. He's looking at the sky. You see his face and it's young again. He wipes his nose and blood stops dripping. His heart slows. Everyone that was chasing him stops. They are screaming at him but he doesn't care.... he's whole again. Cap snaps back into it. He looks at the helicopters. He looks at the soldiers behind him. Then he looks at a door of a building right next to him. Slowly he opens the large metal loading door and walks backwards into the shadows smiling.
This looks very interesting. Yes some could say this is a foreshadowing story or a fear mongering story (depending on which side you are) but its also just the right sort of storyline for a hero like Captain America that harkens back to what he has always stood for.
