    The deviations in measurement is fully acceptable between these units. All handheld test meters will have some slight variations. They are intended to be shop tools, not lab tools. They don't have any way of calibrating themselves. They work perfectly fine for diagnosing and repairing electrical equipment. If you want precision, then you will have to buy benchtop units that are considerably more expensive and less portable.
    I bought the Liumy used for $40 and it's the best $40 I've spent on a multimeter/ocilloscope. It works great for troubleshooting guitar amps. Definitely worth having in the tool box.

    I've been looking at these for quite awhile now. I think it's about time I pick one up. Saves $100 over the SMD and then I'm able to use it for crossover tuning afterwards. Nice.

    meter battery voltage can surprisingly have an effect on measurements, especially if the batteries are low. Design and parts can play a role in exact measurements too.

    Thank you so much for review this scope. What a great alternative to more expensive O-scope when all you're trying to do is set gains on an amp. I like that the graph is bigger on the Luimy compared to the 440.

    My takeaway from this, is something i have noticed using several different meters. From Snapons verus, to Vantage Pro, to my Fluke, to any other number i have used, is simply they are all a bit different in terms of readings. However, the difference is well within military spec of 2%. The differences are in a word negligible and do not affect the overall diagnosis, or circuit checks.
    That said, i am here to get insight into that cheappie in the center. Having spotted it on amazon for cheap, i could use that on the road and in single channel configuration type diagnosis. A compact mobile scope you dont have to add attenuators and support gear such as BNC to shielded banana adapters is awesome. Add to that its a cheap scope meter and if something happens to it, big deal right? Better that than my snapon. For low precision diagnostics that tool would be perfect.
    Its also cool that they showed you can check for clipping of the audio signals with it. Clipping kills speakers. They didnt mention that when an AC audio signal clips, its essentially DC current, and heats up your voice coils just like the electric heating element in your small heaters. Thats bad.

    I bought one of these a few months ago and found that the voltage range wasn't enough to set the gain on my bass amp, due to the max being something like 20v. Other than that it is a pretty nice multi meter. I ended up getting a dso 138 kit and a 10:1 probe on amazon. Came out to about 45 bucks. As for how accurate they are I'm not certain but I've only heard good things about the accuracy. Note that some of those dso 138's are kits that are to be assembled and some are finished boards. The board gives me enough adjust ability to get it pretty far zoomed in and the 10:1 probe gives me enough range for any amp I could ever own. Would recommend going for the dso 138 if you just need a simple o scope for setting gains and such.

      I used mine to set my gains on my skar rp 1500.1. I was able to set it at clipping which was at a even 53v for me. All you got to do is turn your dial to read a higher voltage. 2v. 20v. 200v. Even 1000v it says.

    Thanks for the review. I've been looking to get a decent oscilloscope (something for a beginner in electrical engineering). The decent ones are around $300, which I cant really justify spending right now. This looks like a decent option that'll hold me over until I end up getting a "real" one for a much higher price.
    Thanks!

    Great little unit, very easy to use with pretty accurate v readings, my pico scope does allot more but I need my laptop for that, my DSO shell scope is ok for the super cheap price but the voltage reading is off, this one does what I need it to do in one tidy little unit and for a great price.

      The portion where he pulls out the smd is showing just that. Anytime your sine wave is clipping, turn it down until its smooth.

    • @suckslip
      @suckslip 4 роки тому

      Other videos do this at 1000 hz and 40 hz and your max volume will be whichever of the two is lowest. So if you clip at 25 on 1k hz, and 27 on 40hz, your max volume would be 25 to avoid clipping at 1k hz.

      Josue Valadez if you watch Steve Meade or D'Amore's videos. It is explained that depending on o scope resolution it can show a non clipped signal and still have distortion which the DD-1 Picks up but may not be shown on the o scope. Clipped oscope signal is not the only way to measure distortion. Again D'Amore engineering you tube page has a very good video demonstrating this with a DD-1 and an o scope. D'Amore obviously knows his stuff..... Being an engineer and all. Doubt he would put a product out if a 60 dollar scope was a better way to go. Any ways that said I think this meter scope is awesome and would be a great addition in any toolbox as part of a complete car audio set of measuring tools to better serve our customers. I looking at this piece also. As an addition not a replacement to the D'Amore engineering's DD-1 and
      CC-1

    does not measure watts

    • @871jamie
      @871jamie 6 років тому

      cool guy I don’t know of any meter that does measure in watts but you can calculate your wattage by measuring the voltage and amperage then use P=IxE to get your wattage.
      P=power ( wattage )
      I= current ( amperage )
      E=voltage.
      So use an amp meter on the positive speaker wire to get your total amps then mulitiply that number by the voltage on than same wire. There’s your wattage.
      So for example if you have 10 amps and 10 volts then you have 100 Watts.
      Hope all of this is clear enough to understand and hope it helps.
