    Jess, honey, you are such a great momma! I’m so glad you updated us about Nate! The fact that he will be able to get that special therapy at school is AWESOME! I know it hurts having to have him in a special classroom, but if the school peeps that know him so well think this is best for now, then I think that’s the way to go. And if it doesn’t work out well, they’ll come up with something else. I was so touched to hear that the teachers were crying along with you. They love Nate too, and as much as you love him, God loves Nate even more, which I know is mind-boggling! I will be praying for Nate and for you and David too! Love and hugs and prayers from Chicago-land!

    That’s great that Nate will be in an ABA program. And once he is taught to sit, listen, follow direction etc , he will take off academically. Good for you Jess, you’re a very strong person!

      I really do think it's what he needs to help him be successful in school and life! I don't always feel strong, but I know that God is strengthening me every day! :)

    I am semi- retired special education teacher and I can tell you that the ABA classroom will be so good for him. With specialized trained people- I feel that he will get the best education for him. Also maybe as he gets better with some skills then hopefully he will progress up to going to regular ed for a while with a one to one para for at least a portion of the day. - You are such a good mom- we just have to see what God will do with Nate- and remember the school system can always change as it is needed to do what is best for all of you. You do so well with IE- and I am enjoying watching and learning from you.

    Wow your school system sounds so different then us. That's great that he can do things with "regular" classes. Andrew does that because it shows him how people wait and have to take your turn etc. His life skills class teaches so many of the life lessons. We wants what is best for your child and the fact that the school knows that things aren't working for him and want him to reach his best. Also for the future could he be integrated I regular class with a one on one support? Hang in there girl and crying helps and talking to the camera helps and do whatever you need to do to get the sadness out. Sending you big hugs.

      Thanks so much, Darlene! Big hugs back! The goal is to eventually be in regular classes with support. That's kind of what we have right now, but he's just distracted with all the kids and chaos going on. Plus, he's not learning the life skills that he needs in there. I know we are so blessed with an amazing and caring school! They are an answer to so many prayers! One day at a time, right? :)

      Blessed Jess Yes one day at a time. You sound like your school is there to offer support and want the best for Nate and that is something not everyone had. He will do amazing.

      Thanks, sweet friend! Connecting with other strong special needs mamas has been so encouraging to me also. We truly can understand each other in a way not everyone can. You know I just adore your sweet Andrew...he reminds me so much of my brother in law!

    I work in special ed and I completely understand what you are saying. At his young age and with how smart he is, the social skills are more important than the academics. He will pick up the academics later and because he is so smart it will not affective him in a negative way. YOU ARE A GOOD MOM! You are an amazing woman and your son is an amazing little boy who just needs to do things in a different way and that is OK!! I am so happy you have the support system at the school! You are in my prayers lady!

    I totally agree that the transition to an autism/ABA classroom is a great one! I've been an ABA therapist before and seen how much it can do for these kids! I know it is hard to hear your child's weaknesses, but he has so many more amazing gifts! I pray for a smooth transition for him, for your family, and for his teachers!

    Dont think of it as a set back, think of it as progression for Nate! This is great that he is getting his therapy without dealing with insurance. Stay strong, he is very smart, and is probably bored with the " normal" kids😊

I️ am ha omg him tested for a second time by the school. Hoping for answers and have cried many times. I️ understand how it feels. !!

    Is he high functioning?

    • @BlessedJess
      @BlessedJess  6 років тому

      He’s only five so no one has used that label, but I would say he is more high functioning. He can read pretty much anything, he can talk (but speech is behind...he is getting therapy) and he is super smart at so many things. We do have our struggles with eye contact, sitting still, joint attention, etc. But those are the things he will be working on. 😊
