Brad you did an excellent job on the driveway project!
So, now that your parents are all moved into their new home on your homestead, I hope they are happy with their move.
It's great that your parents can now enjoy all the projects You and Deb are doing.
    Enjoy your Spring!

2024 we're looking at 1,000 ft long driveway. 10 ft across and 4 inch deep. It'll roughly be 94 tons of rock but we decided to do a combo of concrete washout and crushed concrete. Washout is around $30/yard and crushed concrete is just a few dollars more but washout requires a bulldozer to spread it. The dozer is $500 for the 4 hour minimum.

I've got a project I'm working on in TN . The driveway is roughly 3000 ft long . The rock will come in around 12k for about 260 to 280 tons delivered and tailgated . The excavation work for the driveway will be around 9 k to 10 k . That excavation work is for about 2k of driveway the other 1k of driveway was an old logging road which was rehabbed with Crush and Run ( 60 tons ) .

That is the best video ever in UA-cam as far as breaking down everything. I really appreciate you doing all the maps and telling us what it would cost because that definitely help someone like me who is thinking about doing the driveway for my farm myself. Thank you.

I'm no pro with grading either... I mostly do it with a bucket on my tractor, and use my grapple teeth if I want to chew up some potholes or ruts. I think it looks like you did a great job! I find the more times I go over something (and with the longest passes possible) the smoother job I do.... I would never expect someone to go over the rock once and have it perfect!! Great series of videos. Congrats on the nice driveway! Enjoy it!

When your #57s get integrated with the dense grad (road base) a good topper for ease of maintenance is #11s (chips) there called #11s in Indiana. #57s roll alot, like a whole lot. Hard to keep them in your driveway for long periods of time, great base but I perfer a topper on my driveway. Good luck and good job

Just another way for them to make more money while they can. We hope prices come down in the near future. Your property is looking good.

I'm sorry, but this goes against every road standard out there. Your top coat should contain 15-18% fines, which is how you get your compaction. That clean gravel is a nightmare. Won't compact, moves every time you drive on it, and develops potholes. Always design either slope or crown into your roads, water is the biggest killer on roads. The right equipment makes all the difference in price. We just did 1500 feet of driveway lift for $6,800. But the grader is our bread and butter, crowning and sloping in just a few passes. You have the ability with your box blade to crown and slope, it just takes more time.

@@JoJo-oo7zt let the snow pack on the first storm that stays and don't plow at the end of the season if it gets to warm and the ground thaws. Set your plow a little high. Also you can back drag with a plow truck to avoid digging. You do know it snows in California depending on where you live😁
