Build Your Own 40K FORTRESS MONASTERY : DIY Warhammer Terrain

- Build a HUGE Space Marine Fortress from TV packing with this DIY Wrahammer Terrain tutorial, where we create epic Warhamer 40k terrain from scratch.
Building this 4 foot Space Marine Fortress Monastery was at times a complete pain in the ass but well worth it is the end. I can use it in a games of Warhammer 40k & other games or as a display piece for my Space Marines.
This Space Marine Fortress was built out of foam, both polystyrene & XPS. The polystyrene was something we would generally throw away, packaging from a television. A truly massive DIY Warhammer 40k Terrain piece!

Oh, free Discord discord.gg/E7vDxz2P3C
The fortress looks awesome, and that is one nasty burn from the hot glue.... Thanks for sharing!
Thank you & aye, it hurt 🤣
Sometimes the foam gods choose you, there is nothing you can do. Lovely project man!
Thank you Eric, for the comment & for taking the time to watch the video, I am honoured.
My god, you are hardcore. That floor tiling is awesome. A thing that caught my eye was the interlocking teeth on your armored doors. This "little" thing just show the dedication. Love it to "BITS" 😉🙃. Regards from Denmark. Alex.
Mange tak Alex!
Needs battle damage and crenellations...skulls gears bolts eagles would be nice . Looks super good just to plain
Oh this is far from finished
This both rules and is very inntelligently set up
I thank you!
makes me want to build one myself great video
Go for it, the result so far has been really satisfying. Still loads of work to do with painting, armaments & insignia on the list 🤣.
a hot wire cutter is lik a tenner lol
I'd rather have the four pints of larger that tenner would buy 🤣
First time here. Subbed.
Thank you Red Dog!
NEW VIDEO, HELL YEEEAAAAAHHHH!
It's a biggun!
Not big enough.
🤣
Did you find the end of that bell? 🤣
Great job man!! Epic build, love the texture, proper stone built fortress vibes. Quality video too ;)
From you Sir, I'm flattered! Thank you.
im a machinist, tool and die toolmaker. my hands look like freddy kreugers face, and your video gave my massive anxiety lol. please dear God, cut away not toward yourself.
i cut my left ring finger to the bone, speared myself in the gut, u name it.
Please dont need the scars i have and listen to an old man whose fascinated with your creations and dont want ya to lose a finger !
Well old man (sorry couldn't help myself 🤣) I've been around machinery, power tools, hand tools for over 20 years, & done my share of tool making for injection moulding, the worst scar I have was given to me by an idiot with no spacial awareness. They burnt me with a frying basket when I worked in McDonalds as a teenager.
You can rest assured I am very careful when using knives & was taught that you have more control when cutting toward yourself. But you are correct, I'd never advise someone to do that without experience, it can be dangerous.
I'm pleased you're enjoying the content & I didn't mean to make it awkward for you!
Now I just gotta pray my Neighbor buys a tv
🤣 you'd be surprised
Great job, love the build. Hope your finger has healed - I know the pain.
Thank you, & aye me finger is fine 🤣
This is awesome! Love how it came out! My only real Critcism is, how is that you don't have a Polystyrene Cutter? They're not that expensive, and they make it SO MUCH easier!
I have never needed one, my Proxxon does all of my heavy lifting. This was the first time I was working with foam that didn't fit it.
Epic! The hot glue burn and the build. Can't wait to see more! I too need a bit of alcohol to solve my build dillemas. Cheers!
Sometimes a lucid solution is the only way!
I felt that "I stared at it for a month" quote. That's how most of my projects go! Great inspiration at first but then when the core shape is done, pondering if it's what I really want and if I move on with it or change it completely!
Aye, I've learnt recently that I need to be working on a few projects at a time, they each have a tendency to influence each other.
Cheers for the idea. I will use it to build one for my local group and also shared this to the thanes of the great hall
You are very welcome!
hitchhikers guide reference 10/10
It has to be done!
How aren’t you getting more likes cause honestly I love this
Thank you!
Why couldn't you have used your Proxxon to make the initial cuts to the larger pieces of polystyrene?
If they didn't fit in the Proxxon wouldn't a handheld hot wire cutter have handled it? If you build with polystyrene often, one would come in quite handy.
I did like how you discovered the issues with executing your plan and the way you walked the viewer through solving them to reach your idea.
You're correct, it didn't fit. I had to remove a small piece on the back of the goam & bend the Proxxon slightly to cut the arch 🤣. Length wise, the three main pieces were too long. It's the first time I've used polystyrene for such a build & only because it was as soon as I saw it I had ideas & yes a handheld would have been perfect but I don't have one.
Thank you, that's quite the compliment.
@@WulvenKraft I've worked with some large polystyrene pieces myself for use as a playing board for 40K. Two long wedge-shaped "ramps" with MDF on top that had been used as packing material for electronics. It turns out, they are probably too long for anything but 40K Apocalypse when both are used together, unless it's a 2 on 2 game of 2000 points per player.
I have saved 2 more polystyrene packaging materials with MDF glued to it for more terrain or as display board. Each is the size or larger than a Dark Angels Fortress of Redemption. I'm taking a longer look at those after watching your video.
@@GeneJordan Ha, I like any material that does a lot of the work 🤣. Glad you're feeling inspired!
Wow looks great, I like your work 👍
Thank you!
Dayumm thats sick man
Cheers J, truth be told, I'm not finished yet!
Congrats on passing 5k man, and also another great video. Smashing it.
Cheers Demon, it feels like a milestone. Hope you're well!
@@WulvenKraft I'm good, finally got a computer and real drawing tablet so things are going steadily for me.
@@DemonVizarack Nice! Leveling up time!
@@WulvenKraft aye tablets alot of fun to use, need to learn how to edit and stream now.
@@DemonVizarack Editing is exactly the same as drawing, it's all done in layers. Everything else is just personal preference.
Too stream you need an OBS software, very easy to set up once you have found your stream key on UA-cam.
How awesome, such a great work 👍👍
Thank you FIRE KING
Very nice
I thank you Mr Wold Builder!
Pls turn the exposure on ur camera down other than that great video
Aye, it was an issue in this video, although it wasn't just the camera. There was a lot of reflected light when using the white polystyrene but the lesson has been learned.
Dear Mr. Wulfencraft, immaculate work as always! Please be careful with your hot glue gun in the future too!
Lessons have been learned 🤣
Nice.
Cheers Blue
Awesome build and providing the templates is the best!
Thank you & you are very welcome!
Ace - does need a giant Aquila or wolfhead on it ...because 40k
Oh, it's not finished yet! 🤣
Hi love your videos ❤
KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on .
I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon .
Along with having lots of content plans and already in the pipeline and also a Revamp to all social media with new header picture and profile picture from a digital contractor I sorced I hope to just gain more traction to the community iv came back to 🔥

The same journey my friend, give or take a decade 🤣
Loving the space marine statue with the help sign. Where did you get it?
It is a McFarlane Toys Marine I painted, the sign is just a plastic stick & cardboard 🤣
@@WulvenKraft thank you
@@southwestmodellerscollective72 You are very welcome!
Awesome! Loving getting to watch this come to life
Me too, but I feel the work on this piece is far from over!
Good build!!! I love it when someone makes something that's as good on the display shelf as it is on the table. Well done!!!
Thank you James. I have a feeling there is a lot more to come from this build too, I have lots of ideas.
👍👍👍

foam is so cool this rules
Well hello Mr Clown Farm, I know you! Cheers for stopping by & thank you.
brilliant job bro and thanks for your passion for 40k
Thank you
You sir gained a follower , great stuff!!
I thank you Sir
This is genius. Well done. Love it.
Thank you🤘
Great build.
Cheers Steve!
1 single frame jump at 9:24, made me go easter egg crazy.
Damn it missed that! That's one thing I'm always sure to check for when editing. That said, I do put things in every video, sneak peeks to upcoming projects, pop culture references etc.
@@WulvenKraft That's what i thought it was XD
Glorious!

It’s expanded polystyrene not polystyrene.
I don't like bogging others down in details that don't really matter. Packing polystyrene, expanded or not, is still polystyrene to most.
It isn’t called expanded for nothing. Without the clear and proper distinction you wouldn’t know what glues and paints are compatible for instance. Try adding buoyancy to a model boat with polystyrene, instead of using the expanded variety. Of course the details are important, where would your videos be without details? Why do you think we have data sheets for all manner of materials etc. If it’s Polystyrene to most then it’s because of people like you spreading misinformation.if you’re worried about ‘bogging people down’ then you’re assuming that your audience is incapable of explanation, or thick.
