Although I lived in English speaking country for years, people always found it difficult to understand me. That's all because of my wrong pronunciation. I learned your method and practiced it every day and now people can understand me without any effort. Thank you very much sir.
It was great Jay. I've been learning English for more than 30 years and I have overall 7 mark (W6,S6.5,R7,L7.5) mark in IELTS academic test and haven't ever heard of 44 sounds in English. Thank you a lot.
And tomorrow my other test is going to be held like reading, writing and listening,. In SHA ALLAH IN these test I also follow you strategies and with the help of ALLAH Pak i will get 7 bands in each IN SHA ALLAH.I'm from Pakistan, Faisalabad.
Honestly, i was almost clicking away, like "what the h****" "I'm not a two-year old" until the sounds started to get complex and i was like "Oh my! I really need to learn more pronunciations after all. See me listening afterwards with wrapped attention. Thanks again Jay! This video is absolutely helpful like the rest
Wow! All my life I have been pronouncing “of” as “of”. Now, I learnt it’s pronounced “ov”. Amazing! I had to cross check on the dictionary and yes, it’s “ov”. How come I never inferred that from listening to people speak?
I'm planning to study in Australia, and after 2 weeks of review (YT e2 learning with jay vids.) I've got an overall score of 69. Did I atleast got the minimum score? BTW, thanks e2 language and Jay, for this video got me 90 on pronunciation.
Learning to be able to pronounce sounds individually is easier than the words but... Then this is just a matter of pronouncing the sounds instead of what the letters make us believe it should sound like... Perfect 👌
Hi Jay, Your videos and guidance are very helpful. Can you please help on how will you say the following in PPF? Describe an environmental problem or event. You should say: What is it Where is it happening What problems does it cause
Thank you for all your videos Jay, they have been very helpful I scored an overall 8, with listening: 7.5, speaking: 8, reading: 8.5 and writing 7. many many thanks to your time and effort :)) keep up the good work
If this lesson is believable which it is (believable) ... so now I am unlearning all that I have been learning for years (to sound/pronounce words with spelling mostly). Thanks, Jay!
Jai,your class is tremendous interesting.I request you please avoid difficult word(your are using frequently).because we are learner so this word discourage us.
Bundle of bundle of thanks Jay really by heart you are good ielts teacher. Today I have appeared in ielts speaking test, IN SHA ALLAH with the help of ALLAH Pak i will get 7.5 or 7.0 bands in Speaking, Furthermore, I really follow your speaking strategies. Humans and most other vertebrate animals die within a few minutes without oxygen. Yet goldfish and their wild relatives, crucian carp, can survive for days, even months in oxygen-free water at bottom of ice-covered ponds. During this time, the fish are able to convert anaerobically produced lactic acid into ethanol, which then diffuses across their gills into the surrounding water and avoids a dangerous build-up of lactic acid in the body.
Really helpful. thank you very much. i hope that, you make more videos about phonetics .please sir, please. bcz i'm really struggling to improve my pronounciation. please help me. I'm candidate of ielts xm.
The combination of a bacterium that normally lives in the gut and a protein-rich diet promotes a more tolerant, less inflammatory gut immune system according to new research. The findings, in mice, suggest a way to tilt the gut immune system away from inflammation, potentially spelling relief for people living with inflammatory bowel disease.
Thank you Jay . I would like to inform you about the fact that we (Bangladeshi People) have the /v/ sound in our phoneme. ভ is the letter that is used to represent the sound. I never straggled to make the sound . But yes people from Sylhet do not use this sound at all , that is why they find it hard if they do not try to pronounce the Bengali sounds in school . My name is Ivan but almost all of my relatives call me Iban . You might have heared a Sylheti who could not pronounce /v/ , instead he said /b/ . In bangla both /b/ and /v/ exists but in Sylheti only /b/ exists . Although Bengali is our national language we have our own mother tongue , we have our own alphabet (Sylheti Nagri).
Ho you are Aussie 🇦🇺 I am not able to distinguish between English accents I hear them and I notice the difference between many of them but on UA-cam many people have accents from different locations without me knowing it (in contrast to watching UK 🇬🇧 TV USA 🇺🇸 TV Canadian 🇨🇦 TV and knowing for sure where the accent is from) I am a French Canadian Native Speaker (🇨🇦🇫🇷🇨🇦)...
@@lalissehorta Still your native language is a Romance language you will improve soon ,but ask me here who are far away from English, Romanic and latins etc. :) hehe jus sayin.. ;)
The 'f sound' /f/ is unvoiced (the vocal cords do not vibrate during its production), and is the counterpart to the voiced 'v sound' /v/. To create the /f/, the jaw is held nearly closed. The upper backside of the bottom lip is pressed very lightly into the bottom of the top teeth. Please do not unintentionally or intentionally add the schwa or /uh/ sound after the /f/. The H sound is a voiceless or unvoiced sound. This means that your vocal chords do not vibrate when you make this sound. Instead, you use a puff of air to produce the sound. Say /h/ not /huh/. The K sound is a voiceless or unvoiced sound because the vocal cords do not vibrate when you make the sound. Please say /c/ not /cuh/. These are the voiced consonants: B, D, G, J, L, M, N, Ng, R, Sz, Th (as in the word "then"), V, W, Y, and Z. But while you hear uh after /b/, /d/, /g/, /j/ you do not hear it after /l/, /m/, /n/, /ng/, /r/ Sz/ or th as in 'then.' ...... oh. When students hear the schwa sound after the phoneme, it may later be reflected in reading and writing tasks! To prevent this, it is important to produce ONLY the phoneme itself without any additional schwa sound. When teaching voiced sounds, it helps to know, the vibration comes from our vocal chords. The way I teach voicing to ESL students is by asking them to put two or three fingers gently against their throat over the voice box, and then make a sound. If they feel a vibration, the sound is voiced. Unvoiced sounds are also called "voiceless" sounds. Many consonant sounds come in pairs. ... The only difference is that P is an unvoiced sound (no vibration of the vocal cords) while B is a voiced sound (vocal cords vibrate). Put your hand on your throat as you say the pairs below to feel the difference. You might wish to look into speech pairs Note that the first pair of consonants in the table (p, b) is produced at the front of the mouth. Each pair shifts further back with the last pair (k, g) being produced in the throat. There are more! I know there is a difference between pronunciation of British and North American English, but one either continent, adding the schwas sound just complicates the ability of student to spell words!
Hello Jay, I had taken 4 times pte test and because of my poor pronounciation, I get only 10 to 20 pronounciation which have been costing my overall score in pte. I got 62 in listening, 62 in reading, 71 in writting and 47 in speaking. Please help me.. I am totally hopeless.

You pronounce 'often' in two way :
1. Of-en
2. Of-ten
