In Ontario, Macallan 12 year old Double Cask is on sale ($5.00 off) for $144.50 until November 5, while 12 year old Sherry Cask is $199.95.
It was good to share a dram. I actually enjoy Macallan, but the price keeps it off my shelf. Thanks for sharing, cheers!

89 for the double cask and 99 for the sherry cask. Both 12 yr at a liquor store I was in today. I ended up getting the double cask and a bottle of the woodford reserve kentucky derby secretariat bottle.
I do like a Macallan, they are expensive and I feel they could do with being a slightly higher proof, but if I ever want to get someone who likes whisky but doesn't know to much to have a good time ill get some Macallan

In Bulgaria the price of this Macallan is all over the place starting off from "pretty ambitious" and landing at "plain absurd". If by any reason I don't have access to a toilet where I can flush my money I'd have to part with say the equivalent of 65-ish pounds by current exchange rates for a bottle of Macallan 12 Double Cask.
As for other "Macallan wannabe" brands beside already mentioned, I'd say Tamdhu and to even greater extent Glengoyne. They still have some well presented expressions but their entire image shows very strong urge for "premium".

Had the exact same experience with this. It's just really quiet and rather disappointing, it would be better with purely American Oak maturation. At least it would offer something different.
Macallan makes good whisky but then they insist on mucking around with it to satisfy the imbeciles in their Marketing Department. There's a reason why it has such a good reputation but that was the pre-Macallan Gold stuff.
