Otis is easily my favorite singer of all time. He was so talented. Fun fact: he recorded Sittin on the Dock of the Bay in Memphis at Stax just before he died. They have part of that studio preserved in their museum in Memphis and it is a spiritual experience to visit. Highly recommend it!
Love me some Otis!!! He's my baby daddy, that voice alone will get you pregnant, lol!! Having this as his last live performance gave me goosebumps through the whole song. RIP to a legend 😊❤ all love
I'm so glad you got your hands on this video and reacted to it because like you said it takes on a whole other tone. I wrote an article about this a long time ago and it's hard to see this without feeling blessed and burdened at the same time
This is as good today as it was back then. While Dock of the Bay may be what you first think of with Otis, I loved everything the man sang. What a voice.
I was at his last Live performance at Leo's Casino in Cleveland that evening. The late show the show was Fab and Otis Finished with this song and went on for over 10 minutes!!!!!!
No one can compare to Otis. Al green is in the same division. But they’re both absolutely amazing I their own way. They both have a special place in my heart and brain chemistry.
If you have Max, watch the new Stax Records docuseries. He was a genius. The BarKays were still in their teens when they went on tour as his backing band.
This song was first performed in 1932 and a lot of artists covered it. But Ottis Redding's version is the most popular to date. Check out the Three Dog Night's life version as well.
Check him out at Monterey Pops. (Respect which he wrote, These Arms of Mine and I've Been Loving You Too Long. His biggest hit after he died was Sitting on The Dock of a Bay.)
ABtheKreator, the live version at the "MONTEREY POPS FESTIVAL"and "WOODSTOCK " but I do treasure this version. To me ,the mic has nothing to do with the performance, its the singers/singer that got the job done.
Their chartered plane crashed into Lake Monona killing him and 4 band members. 😢 We lost a legend too soon.

Same. Followed closely by Sam Cooke. The beautiful music they would've made....
This young man died at the age of 26 but yet left such an indelible mark on music. Imagine if he would have lived a long life.
Incredible. His music will live on forever
This channel is criminally underrated
Fact! ❤
What a phenomenal talent he was. Rest in peace. ❤

I'm 71 years old. Grew up listening to Otis. He & the Bar Kays were in an airplane crash. The Bar Kays were from Mempgis TN

He died, in a plane crash, just 3 days after recording "Dock...", and it was released posthumously, and, strangely, was his only no. 1 hit !!!
How blessed are we to have this kind of music and artist to grace us with their presence?? It’s mind blowing to think about.
I grew up listening to Otis Redding. I born at the end of the 50's. I grew up with classic songs.
As a 1953 baby you sir are rocking my vibes❤️❤️
Love me some Otis, what a voice

Excellent recommendation and introduction to other Stax recording artists.
I read that he would call his family every night after his shows. So very sad.
Awwww yeaya!! ☘️🇺🇲

Try Otis with Carla Thomas "Tramp".
Dig this cover band out of the Phillipines The Reo Brothers - just released Beatles song I AM THE WALRUS
I was 17
Always a draw: Otis Redding
Chris Brown torn this apart in the movie!
