The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For most of their history the line-up consisted of primary songwriter Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Emerging in the British new wave scene, they played a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart on the strength of the singles "Roxanne" and "Can't Stand Losing You". Their second album, Reggatta de Blanc (1979), became the first of four consecutive No. 1 studio albums in the UK and Australia; its first two singles, "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking on the Moon", became their first UK number ones. Their next two albums, Zenyatta Mondatta (1980) and Ghost in the Machine (1981), led to further critical and commercial success with two songs, "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", becoming UK number-one singles and Top 5 hits in other countries; the former album was their breakthrough into the US reaching number five on the US Billboard 200. Their final studio album, Synchronicity (1983), was No. 1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy and the US, selling over 8 million copies in the US. Its lead single, "Every Breath You Take", became their fifth UK number one, and only US number one. During this time, the band were considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the US; in 1983 Rolling Stone labelled them "the first British New Wave act to break through in America on a grand scale, and possibly the biggest band in the world. The Police disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008. They were the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, due to their reunion tour, which was the highest-grossing tour of 2007. The Police have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. The band won a number of music awards, including six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards-winning Best British Group once, and an MTV Video Music Award. In 2003, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Four of their five studio albums appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". The band were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".

This song embodies all 3 signature sounds of the Police- punk, rock, reggae. If you were to put only 1 song of the Police in a time capsule to best represent them, this is it. Wasn't their most popular hit but this has Andy's guitar and SC's drums at perfection.
This is a TRIBUTE to all my young students of Classe 3H e 3D of ITE Bodoni in Parma, Italy for how LOVELY they are. Most of us in these two classes are ALONE but do not feel LONELY at all. As their teacher, I often remind them of this lovely lyrics and of the fact that we, as a patient and perseverant fisherman, better wait for the right catch rather than eatingt an ORDINARY sardine that happens to pass near our fishing rod. As a matter of fact, their teacher is ALONE since mid November 2019 waiting for the right catch to pass by his fishing rod. Sometimes is healthy to stay hungry in front of all this food we have around us. It tempers your soul and, especially, teaches you how to control your animal instincts. Happy San Valentine's day to EVERYONE, especially those who have the STAMINA to wait, no matter what!

Qu'est ce que j'ai pu écouter en boucle cet Album quand j'étais jeune, surtout So Lonely.
Ah c'est tellement bon...
Maybe it's because I have a lonely life, but I love this song more than any other of their songs. Sometimes I like to play it VERY LOUD as it's got great dynamics, and sing loud over it.
Could you do it in a park? 🎉
at 0:18 when Stewart and sting share that look tho

This song, unlike its title, makes me feel good to be soo lonely with other like minded loners.
@BeTheDeathOfMe SOS
Yay us…😒they have lots of these types of songs. King of Pain, Message in a Bottle. All dealing with depression and loneliness
I'm a lonely person in this world 👋 hello
@@mdm3boi ✋
There is so much songs about love but not so much about loneliness to make us feel better maybe in style like this song will be nice
I love how most of the Police's music videos are just them vlogging in the early 80s
Stewart Copeland....legend...high class drumming..
,,, in this desert that I call my soul ,,,
As a kid I thought for ages they were singing about the newsreader Sue Lawley and wondered why. lol.
"Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley, I feel Sue Lawley..."
I thought they were singing about Sigourney Weaver
Hahaha that is quality 😂🤣😂🤣
😂👍
Me too ! See my comment above. Glad it wasn’t just me !!!
I love the Police and have since the 80s. Hands down one of many favorites. The music is seemingly timeless isn't it? Grateful to have it in my life. Aways brings a smile, no matter how slight, to my lips 👄
This song and Message in a Bottle are their coolest, greatest songs.
Police will be always one of BIG band... Andy was Magic at Atlanta in this solo..., but Stewart ......
Many thanks.....
Back when the Police were gritty, almost a punk/new wave band. Loved this time.
Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley. Classic!!!
The Police é uma banda maravilhosa.
I don’t even know what you said, but I know you meant The Police are great, so I’ll like your comment :D
@@ilikecatsbutimallergictoth1856 The Police is a wonderful group, he said. What else could it be anyways? That's the only right sentence with these guys.
si señor
Ovo mi je možda njihova najbolja pjesma!
Zato ti je na spisku. Meni se puno svidjaju i druge pesme.🎶👍🎶
Stewart Copeland, in all of The Police videos, uses almost any surfaces to play his drumsticks on LOL...I guess he needs to be active.
Mikey_Suze Four when you’ve got that much talent, you can’t keep it in!
Once he's got his drumsticks out ANY surface is fair game.
That's the cocain
Maybe he has ADHD
He has adhd i think
cant believe this song was there all my life and im hearing it now. its songs like this that make me keep exploring, and there is so much beauty out there in the world waiting for you to discovere them.
Obsessed with their videos so low budget but so funny and cool with copeland always drumming on a variety of different objects!
So cute. His lyrics are so cute. The poor thing. But you really got to listen to what he says.
Copeland was always my fave.♥️
The most money they spent on this video was the Subway Fare.
What about the plane tickets? Hahaha
Videos were just coming out then. But id rather have good music than hi tec videos.
And those state of the art brand new on the market walkie talkie things 🤣
And the fish.
Maxi _ Music Lives Matter 😂
Epic bass line, great band
+MrAlepedroza I really dig the vocals and drums too!
this was the first police song i heard, and now i love them
I love that they embraced the punk sound in a good part of their way songs, makes their stuff that much better.
There's millions of songs out there i know but, this is my all time favourite.
Love rollerskating alone to this masterpiece..
One of the best songs in my young years in 1978.
J adore Thé Police. Mon seul regret est de ne pas les avoir vu en concert💖💖💖💖💖💖

What a ROCKEN BAND!!!
Man I love Andy, he's so bloody cool.
This song embodies all 3 signature sounds of the Police- punk, rock, reggae. If you were to put only 1 song of the Police in a time capsule to best represent them, this is it. Wasn't their most popular hit but this has Andy's guitar and SC's drums at perfection.
2:35 omg sting's legs...there so long 😍
THEY TRIED TO FIT ME ON THE COVER OF VOGUE, BUT MY L E G S WERE T O O L O N G
they’re / their / there
so lonely....so lovely! still one of the top songs of a lifetime!
When that person stopped Stewart from drumming on his market
Yeah lmao he had no idea who he was stopping
@@charlienorton2337 because The Police back then is not that known in Japan lol
Retro Cysper that’s literally my point lmfao
At least he got to be immortalized in the video!
@@retrocysper3709 It's Hong Kong before 1997 ....
This is 2022 right now and we need music 🎵 like this 🔥🔥🔥🔥 miss the 80s and 90s music
I think Stings voice is like overly Stingy...like a homage to his ridiculously high pitched voice
The police the best Drummer STEWARD COPELAND the best guitarist ANDY SUMMERS
One of the best songs 🩵
0:50 sounds like memories now
It's like early Japanese Rock.
I just love how Stewart Copeland scares those children with that fish-like thing at 2:56!
I love it too!;)
OMFG - love the walkee talkee ear-buds!!! So FBI/CIA-esque, circa the '80's.
This understated aesthetic is really hot. I love their haircuts of this era too.
This song is a part of my life that will never be taken away from me
This video version cuts out the best part of the song at the end 😥 where Sting breaks it down how lonely he is
omg I literally love Stewart, he's so funny
That freeform video style on the street in the 70s was ahead of it's time.
