I am from and live in East Texas I have visited both Memphis and Nashville many times they are both interesting cities. But Memphis is an older city that was more popular and the biggest city in Tennessee when Nashville was more of a mid-size city. But now Nashville is booming and more popular than Memphis and is also Tennessee largest city. Both cities have there drawbacks I like both cities I agree with you that Memphis traffic is better than Nashville’s traffic each time I visit Nashville I am always stuck in a traffic jam on I-40 but I prefer Nashville overall 😀
I'm from Memphis, but I now live in Batesville, MS. Its a hour away from Memphis and 25 minutes away from Oxford MS where the University of Mississippi Ole MISS is located. I actually love it here. Its safe and very peaceful. There are decent restaurants and choices for shopping. The people here are very friendly and easygoing. If I need anything in the city, Memphis is just an hour drive away. Most of everything I need is in Oxford MS, though, so I have no need to come to Memphis often. Most people who live here are afraid of Memphis due to all of the crime they see on the news. The farthest they will drive is Southaven.
Memphis is always good for a visit but Nashville takes it if you're planning to move. I see some people get off work on a Friday night and just pick a place to listen and dance to music. Can't beat that.
Two of the taller buildings in downtown Memphis are empty. The Sterick Building and the 100 North Main Building. The Sterick Building was completed in 1930 and at the time with 29 floors, was the tallest building in the American south. The 100 North Main building was built in the 1960s and has severe maintenance problems. It is currently closed and fenced off from the public.
@@swinde that’s sad…Every river city downtown looks amazing,Cincinnati,Louisvile,St.Louis,New Orleans then you go to Memphis and it looks like it’s 1932.
@@kenzoblytheproducertv4934 Yes, Sterick and 100 North Main are empty. 100 N. Main won't be that way for long. The city bought it a while back and some developers are going to bring life back to it. Sterick has a lot more problems due to the asbestos and the land lease. We tend to preserve the character of the buildings downtown because it evokes character and a sense of place. There is a definite plan in place to restore downtown to its former glory, and it will get back there. It may not be as fast as Nashville, but that's OK. Memphis didn't go through the 80s boom of downtown building because of the amount of old buildings and white flight to the East, which has more modern buildings. I'm a lifelong Memphian, proud to be from Memphis, no matter the negatives.
@@rdmdbyONE I really appreciate that fam,I love Memphis that’s why I be mad when I go to other river cities and see how there downtown looks lol… I got family in Memphis,I’m from Middle Tennesee fam and want to see Memphis Downtown come to life,I even went to Kansas City for the 1st time, they have a nice little river but the downtown looks amazing… But I hope Memphis can get some new high rises soon,Salute to Memphis…🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I was in Memphis in 93-94 and it was decent place 💯 Came back in 09 and it was a run down fn shthole!!! You got mudafawkas killin each other because there show laces were red or blue... Nothing about opinions, Nashville is by far the better city, and is ranked among the best cities to live in the USA.
I live in Memphis. Do you realize Memphis is one of the most dangerous cities in America. Always in the top five. You can’t go out after dark. I go to Middle Tennessee several times a year and it is like day and night.
If i had to pick from the 2 I guess it would be Nashville. Both have severe traffic issues but memphis people have too much road rage and drive like idiots. Memphis also has much higher crime. I live in Tennessee but would never live in either city due to congestion, crime and liberal policies
Everyone that makes these anti Memphis videos go off of internet data but never actually has lived here it is ridiculous. Y'all have people scared to visit a beautiful and fun city. Come here spend some time then make a video review. I have lived in nashville and Memphis the only difference is nashville has more blue collar jobs whereas Memphis has more logistics jobs. If we bring this into 2023 Memphis has made the top place to visit on several rankings and our hotel occupancy is outpacing the national average. Just come visit grow and learn
@@rdmdbyONEI understand. I used to visit Me.ohis A LOT in the mid-2000's. It just isn't the same for me anymore. Nashville caught fire, then outpaced Memphis. The Memphis metro population has increased
Nashville metro area closer to 3 million now
Nashville was founded in 1779. Memphis was established in 1831.
Memphis desperately needs some high rises.Nashville downtown makes Memphis downtown look ancestral.
