    im so glad you discussed exit pupil. it is the largest factor in brightness. bigger lenses are just creating bigger exit pupils. Zeiss used to get really good scores with smaller lenses because they worked out a great exit pupil mojo. Something to do with the lense distance yada yada yada. its all math and stuff, Marines arent good with math unless its crayon math. or MOA.

      Awesome man. I’m glad you’re getting value out of the channel. Definitely come by sometime. We’d love to meet you.
      Another piece of advice… if you’re serious about getting into LR and if you’d like to save a LOT of money, wasted time, and frustration, whether it’s through us or another reputable company definitely take a long range course. It will set you up with a foundation of knowledge and skill that will pay for itself many, many times over.
      Thanks for watching!

    Two huge factors that most reviews don’t cover is 1: ease of getting behind the scope, and 2: color saturation. You did a great job covering these scopes! The ZC is an objectively better optic BUT they are very close. The gap between the ZC and NF is much smaller than the NF and Leupold or PA glx

    • @paramounttactical
      @paramounttactical  6 місяців тому +3

      Yes, eye relief on the ZCO is more forgiving than the NF. I will cover color and contrast in Part III. The gap between them isn't large but the marginal additional performance in many areas starts to add up. For many if not most, the extra cost for the ZCO won't be worth it but for many, it definitely will. Thanks for watching!

      @@paramounttactical agree 100%. I own an ATACR 4-16 mil-tx and have used SB PM2s and Razors. Once I looked through the ZCO 4-20 it was apparent that they were the current best out there. At least as far as what I’ve had the opportunity to use. I’ve also used several mid tier optics. I just wanted to point that out to some viewers that might think the NF isn’t worth it over a mid tier scope and to upgrade they must go all the way to ZCO. I do think the ATACR is an excellent optic that offers a lot over mid tier options if someone isn’t able to pay for the ZCO. Is the ZCO better than the ATACR and appropriately priced? Yes. Is the ATACR still a great option if that’s the top of your budget? Also yes.

  • @CutlassOutdoors

    Great review so far! I know the Tremor 3 reticle has really sparse illumination, but how does the illumination compare to the MIL-XT or any of the other NF reticles that are more generously illuminated?

    • @paramounttactical
      @paramounttactical  6 місяців тому +1

      Not even close in brightness. I have never seen a NF reticle that is nearly as bright. All NF reticles are about 30% of the max brightness of the ZCO.

    • @CutlassOutdoors
      @CutlassOutdoors 6 місяців тому +1

      @@paramounttactical That makes sense. It seems brighter than any of the illumination I’ve seen on the FFP NF scopes, It just seemed strange to compare the T3 reticle to a fully illuminated one. That being said, you work with what you’ve got. I don’t expect you to open a brand new ATACR just to prove it. You give some of the most thorough, well researched, and honest reviews I’ve seen, so if you say it’s 30% brightness, that’s good enough for me

    • @paramounttactical
      @paramounttactical  6 місяців тому +1

      @@CutlassOutdoors lol, yeah that NF Tremor 3 is my personal one and that’s just the way it worked out. While the Tremor has dots that illuminate, the level of illumination and/or brightness you saw there is illustrative of how bright NFs more fully lit reticles get. It’s not that bright and you’ll never be able to utilize them in any meaningful way in full sun.
      Thanks,
      Gary

    • @paramounttactical
      @paramounttactical  2 місяці тому +1

      I need to review some of their recent releases as my experience with S&B is outdated. I have found them to be great optics but severely lacking in durability. When I was in Special Operations it was around 2008 we were issued all new S&B optics to replace our NightForce optics. Within a month every team went back to Nightforce because the S&Bs were broken and just couldn’t handle field conditions much less be reliable enough for combat.
      That may have changed, but I’ve been reluctant to use them again.

      @@paramounttactical What model were you issued then that had problems? I am considering the 5-25 and the 6-36 PM2s

    • @paramounttactical
      @paramounttactical  2 місяці тому +1

      @austingriffith1118 I couldn’t remember if you threatened my life. Knowing their lineup I believe it world have been the PM first gen. But I do think given that you can get the ZC840 an 8-40 for about the same price point as the S&B 5-25, I do think the ZCO with its features and so far, good performance regarding durability, I think it’s a better buy. But… I am admittedly a little biased against S&B given I saw so many of their optics fail with mild use and based on experience, I am biased toward ZCO because I like their features, controls, reticles, and glass quality. So take all that for what it’s worth. I think a future review comparing the ZC840, ATACR 7-35, and S&B 6-36 makes sense.

    No serious person thinks NF is better.
    NF is the most durable optic on the market. Not even CLOSE to the best glass....or turrets...or reticle.

    • @McgSpook
      @McgSpook 6 місяців тому +4

      true that. NF glass isnt the cleanest around but its not bad either. But i trust the thing to not explode on me and be accurately adjusted. Im more then happy to give up some optical perfection for trust. Cant wait to see some tracking and destruction test on the ZCO. I hope it does well. Better/Worse statements are kind of subjective to the shooter when its all said and done. Kind of like the MOA vs MIL thing. We all weigh different aspects differently. Im just fine with a MOAR T reticle and light ilum. So those being "better" mean almost nothing to me. Someone else may hate that reticle and need lots of illum. We have different ideas of perfect. I guess thats why they make lots of different models.

    • @KevinWood44
      @KevinWood44 6 місяців тому +3

      @@McgSpook Completely respect that opinion. But the comparison of mil vs MOA isnt all that comparable. I get what you mean....it is ust a personal perference but mil and moa do the EXACT same job. And yes NF and Zco can both DO the job but I think it fair to say Zco is simply a better scope. I do not own one, I have no dog in this fight. I have the Athlon Cronus and I saw no difference between that glass and the ATACR glass but the Zco and Gen 3 had noticably better glass than the NF and Cronus. (I am not saying the Cronus is on the level of the NF the eye box was MUCH better on the NF it is without question a superior scope to the Cronus,) Also the Zco is hands down the nicest scope on the market fit and finish-wise. What a gorgeoussss scope!!! I personally HATEEE NF reticles. HATE HATE HATE. For me personally, I think reticle has to be your 2nd or 3rd buying decision whwen choosing a schope (behind tracking reliability and viewing experience/glass) Part of the reason I chose the Cronus was bc how simple and clean the reticle was. That, the Gen and the Tract have essentially the same reticle and that my perference. Do you like your NF reticle? Which one do u have?

      Other than I’m fine with NF reticles, I can’t disagree with anything you said. It’s funny to see the dichotomy of comments/people in the comments. You’re on one spectrum (and correct) then I have guys saying ZCO is a “no name optic” that better lower their prices if they want to sell scopes … 😂

      @@paramounttactical I appreciate the reply. Hey the reason they have more than one reticle is because people's perferences are different. I dont blame you for having bad taste in reticles lol. I like Brussel Sprounts....we all have weird tastes sometimes =) Zco is not overpriced...if you want and need what it offers. You can say the same thing about Mercedes, BMW or Ferrari....why not just get a Hyundai?!? They all get from point A to Point B. People who complain about price can not afford what they want.
      And YT and IG comment sections are amazing....and scary....and SAD! **Jeff (McgSpook) I had no issues with our convo, we can agree to disagree without you being a moron. However, you may very well BE a moron I am not ruling that out...but I will give you the benefit the doubt....for now. =)
