Great Amp and I would have to say my favorite. I have Marshall's, Fenders, Mesa Boogies, and Vox as well. All different animals. Still love my Ampeg V4 the best. I love it so much that I got
Just discovered your channel today, coincedently i just bought an excellent condition VT-22 that sat in a closet for decades probably, all original. This channel will be a great resource for me thank you
Thanks for making this easy to understand. I posted another comment but can’t seem to find it. So if two appear, sorry. Anyhow, this will help me service my dads 1973 vt22 v4! It has all original Magnavox tubes pushing 50 years old! That is mighty strange that changing the resistor value created such an issue. Good to look out for! Anyhow, thanks again
greatings I found your post today, while watching my other amp guy, I was curious if you'd be interested in taking on some more projects as I have three vintage amps in various stages of repair, one being the same as in this video a 69 or 70 ampeg v-4, needing a three prong cord installed as well as possablly a re- cap. as it is all original and never been serviced from what I can tell. its old but new to me. that being said the other one is a Gibson quite rare I believe as I cant find much info about it on line its called a Medalist 4/10. quite a strange design I'd have to say. but it did sound real nice clean and jazzy tones with tremelo and reverb. with four 10 inch speakers. however the fuse keeps blowing and its burned up a few wires and caps, so i am not sure what it will need to fix it, the bigest problem would be shipping. any way let me know if you interested and we ll go from there thanks for you time and shairing your knowlage with us...
Excellent video! I'm fixing a similar one, found some bad capacitors, cold solders, and loose wires (especially one grounding wire) but I still have noisy (hum) output when the bass is plugged in. It seems some input impedance mismatch since when I test with music from my tablet, sounds great (I know the bass is OK). Any idea to try? Thanks a lot!
Great video dude! I have an early v4 that needs a little TLC. The power tubes seem to wobble quite a bit in the sockets. Is there anything I could do to snug that up? Every time I gig it put I have to re seat the power tubes otherwise it acts up
I have a V4 Distortion Model modded w a MV and biased for 6550's which I use for bass. I use a Y chord with both channels. It does increase headroom, but does it also increase the output of the head?

Awesome job! This will help me service my dads 1973 vt22 v4! Great job making it easy to understand. So many guys use a lot of jargon.

yep....happened to me with Sansui quad 4 channel amp. had to rebuild both bias boards with all new components.
Great job making this video. I learned a few things that will help me work on my amp.

Super video, thanks!
Would like to know Bias values for 6550's.
Why did you not just put a trimmer pot in the bias for ease of adjustment
thanks
