I love the song choice, and most of the shot selections, but I would've liked to see a few more of the "cat and mouse" shots from the street fight sequence with the silenced shotgun. The windshield and mirror exploding come to mind. But still, I love this and your channel!
I wish There Will Be Blood and No Country came out in different years because Deakins would have won for this if TWBB wasn’t so damn well shot. Two of the best movies of all time, it’s a shame one of them had to lose Best Picture
Absolutely adore this song and all of the work by The Black Angels; they're one of my favorite bands :) It made me very happy to see it paired with one of my favorite movies ever.
Darren yes man it only had a soundtrack for a scene or two I think sound in this movie is just silencers ,doors opening getting slammed or a gunfire echoing in the distance not your larger than life opera music like in the searchers or the magnificent 7 ,even the blood pumping tracks of Ennio Morricone . This movie relies on the sounds we make in real life and not the sounds a composer makes for a movie
@FridaFan it's actually a great song that fits the composition of shots. The song wouldn't work in the context of the whole film but for this collection of shots it works well.
This movie is so amazing because it defies the standard procedure of movie makng. The bad guy wins while the good guy suffers, the sheriff experiences ego death from the death of the protagonist and realizes it ain't all waiting on him
I too prefer when you use music from the movie. Adds to the cinematography in these videos because it’s intentional. But you create these and should be allowed to add your own flair as well! Keep these up
That's a tough one. NCFOM is very, very good as book and film. In fact, the book was originally meant to be the screenplay for the film but Cormac McCarthy decided to novelise it as well which is probably why the movie is so good. How many of McCarthy's works have you read? Of his works that have been adapted to film, I think film NCFOM rivals the book very closely. The Road was a great film but I think the book is better. James Franco absolutely butchered Child of God - the book is superior by a mile. That's why I hope he never does Blood Meridian; he'd absolutely ruin it. By the way, if you like McCarthy you absolutely have to read Blood Meridian - it's his magnum opus, my absolute favourite book and one of the best novels ever written imo.

I read The Road and I didn't like it; it was just too open and minimalist for me in a way, whereas NCFOM uses its characters, speech and description to really drive the story and ideas. Thank god that Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones etc. were chosen as the cast for the film. Thanks for the comment though and I'll definitely check out blood meridian.

Fantastic video! In my opinion, one of the most deserved best picture winners of the 21st century. Also, I would like to suggest Beauty of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
recommendation: the sisters brothers. a great western that contains a handful of pretty shots with some beautiful looking lighting sprinkled in as well, just an idea.
