Love your flosstube. Hard to imagine the adversities these ladies had during their lifetime. Gives a whole new appreciation for their wonderful samplers. Thank you for all you do. Witney
I'm catching up on some Flosstube and watched you this morning. I so enjoy hearing the stories of the girls who created those samplers we all love. Looking forward to watching your next video 😊
I am really enjoying your flosstube episodes. I love the historical facts and stories you include. So fascinating and interesting. Keep doing what you’re doing. 👍🏼
Your passion for samplers and the young girls who stitched them is evident in your face and your voice as you share each story. How wonderful to have you, as a teacher share their story. Your eyes water as if they were your own students ❤ Love your new releases. They will be on my sampler walls in the near future. The Witney books are lovely.
I love hearing the stories about the history of the samplers you reproduce! Your new samplers are delightful! I love that you share about books, too! Witney
So I watched Sarah's Stitchy Spot's latest flosstube. I love that she gives shout outs to other flosstubers. So my day has had a wrench thrown in it. I watched your first one, got hooked and watched the rest throughout the day. I am not drawn to samplers but I am looking at them in a whole new light. I have enjoyed learning so much in just one day, thank you!!!
Thank you! HA! I hate that I ruined your plans, but I love that you stayed for more!! That makes me happy to be able to share the stories about the samplers with you.
Would love the Witney books, especially the stitching from the poor. It’s interesting that no matter what status we are in life we find a way to create!
Witney. So glad to know that I am not alone in my quest for scissors. Doesn't matter how many I have when I see a different or interesting pair I always have to stop and look at them.
Rae I love hearing the background of each of these stitchers. It's so interesting hearing how you go about tracking down this information! We are enjoying stitching with your friend Lisa today at the Quilter's Station mini retreat. See you, again soon.
I've watched each one of your videos, but have only commented a couple of times. They have all been great! The samplers you shared today are definitely calling me. Thank you so much for reproducing them and sharing them !
I am SOOOO happy I came across your videos. I love the history behind samplers. I've been a cross stitcher over 40 years. Just now getting interested in samplers. Hope to stitch one soon. Love it!!!
Suffer little children...is on my grandparents headstone because they had foster children. I would love to stitch this sampler to honor my grandparents. Thank you for your videos and your beautiful charts.
Oh wow -- that brings a tear to my eye. Your grandparents had to have been very special people to be foster parents. I'd love to see it when you are finished.
Your floss tubes are always so interesting. I enjoyed the stories of the girls that stitched the original samplers and you sharing how you found out about them. And as a history buff, I would enjoy the Witney books. Thank you
I find your videos to be one of a kind and you bring so much to the table! I love the history and I always wonder when I see a sampler or even an unsmiling antique photograph what life was like for them. I too would be drawn to the samplers of the poor. I have a remnant of linen belonging to my aunt and it’s labeled with her name and the name of what must have been a stitching club. I know she lost her mom and raised her 3 younger siblings so I’m sure she never got to enjoy going and they were very poor. I think the Witney publications would be very interesting and I had never heard of Cody either!!!
Thank you for the kind words and the encouragement. I sincerely appreciate it. What a treasure to have something your aunt stitched. It's a tangible reminder of her -- that's pretty cool. And I agree about the old photos, too. You wonder what they were thinking as they stood stick still to have the photo made!
I so enjoy your channel and how you share the stories behind the samplers. Thank you also for releasing your patterns in PDF as it helps those of us who are not in the US to have access. Very interested in the Witney books. I am also a scissor addict.
Whitney. Awesome video. Thank you for taking your time to make these videos and I learn something new with each video you do. I look forward to each of them. I love the jar you use in memory of your mom. Have a awesome week.
Another wonderful video! Thank you for showing my finish of your beautiful Jermima Fortune Cunningham sampler. It was a joy to stitch! I love all the new pieces you've showed here. Mary Barker especially caught my eye. My roots can be traced back to a Barker family in England. Wouldn't it be fun if Mary was a distant relative. I'm definitely going to order this chart from you soon! Happy Stitching!
Thank you! And woozier! It would for sure be cool if you were related to Mary Barker! Imagine that -- if you find out that you are, please let me know!
Love your samplers especially hearing the history behind them. Another great informative video. I appreciate your tech tips as a senior citizen trying to find their way through all this new technology!
I love all you shared today! Great job, Rae! I’d also love to learn how to do that hem stitch. It looks so beautiful on a stitched piece! Thank you for another great episode! WITNEY
Thank you, Tricia. BTW -- if you ever get a chance to be in a class with Megan or Vickie from Needlework Press they are fantastic. Also, Linda Wallace who passed away this fall was another beautiful hem stitcher. She did amazing work on your sampler hem stitching. Her Insta was SisterArts2020 and I think it may still be hope if you want to see her finishes. There are lovely.
Your new release’s are beautiful, love to have Witney, your history on your new samplers was very interesting, thanks for the phone tips.have a good week Thankyou for sharing 👍🪡🇳🇿

Ruth -- I have several from two different collections I have purchased and then others I have purchased at estate sales, garage sales, Ebay and also Etsy. Others I have purchased at auctions. I try to only buy ones I want to chart --sometimes I buy them because they need a home. I know that sounds weird, but I don't want them to end up at Goodwill.
Hi Rae! Another great episode. I so enjoy all the history you give with each sampler you reproduce. As a new-ish stitcher I'm so curious about all the history behind samplers and learning more. One of my stitching goals is to stitch a small marking sampler for each of my 4 granddaughters and look forward to stitching one of your designs. As one of 5 sisters, I enjoyed hearing that you are one of 4! Do your other sisters stitch as well? Finally, thank you for your kind shout out -- it's always surprising to hear your name mentioned 🙂. Happy Stitching! -Carolyn
Thank you!! Of my sisters, only one really stitches. She is working on a 26 block cross stitched block quilt for her daughter who is getting married in September so her time is focused on getting it completed ASAP!
Beautiful new samplers and currently stitching G. Hubbard and of course I had to stitch her on 46 count with some lovely 100.3 silks. So peaceful and graceful to stitch. Thank you, Ida. Good for you to start with G. Hubbard -- she's small and very doable. I hope you find joy in completing it! I love that I know who she was. :-)

Hi, it is so lovely to see a sampler from my home county. I live in the beautiful county of Cumbria in the UK and I’m always looking for samplers from that area. I was thrilled to find Mary Barker and I have her printed off and ready to kit up.
