I'm not even joking, this is exactly what I do and it's worked for 5 months since lmao. I did wonder' Is he going to punch the indicator? '
Im glad it worked. It helped me a few times when it happened.
I do it too, but now it happens everyday 😢😢😢 and I don’t know what to do about it…
this is one of the best real DYI ever!!
Haha it’s not really a proper fix but definitely helps 😆
Wow. This is a very classic method. It's a method I used when my old TV didn't work very well when I was a kid. What's more surprising is that this method worked for my car lol. I hit it and it makes some tightening noise and it works fine. Thanks!
Glad it helped. Regards 👋
I’m speechless, never in a million years did I think this would work 😂
Haha, I know. Ridiculous!
Just tried this and it worked!! 😂😂😂 absolutely ridiculous on BMW’s part but THANK YOU!
Yes it really does work 😅
This happened on my wife's 240i last week. I took the rear light cluster out to change the bulb only to discover that there isn't an indicator bulb to change! Mind you, after reinstalling the cluster the indicator now works perfectly. Must be a poor connection in there if giving it a thump sorts it out.
Yes apparently it’s related to poor earth
@@MDrives That makes sense. Surprised a fault like that got through to production!
Holly...it works! Today I tried and it's back to normal, BMW dealor willl lost its job.lol.
Haha, unfortunately it will come back at some point. It’s not a permanent fix.
@@MDrives Please let us know how you permanently fix. Thx.
😂 Legend. Will try this
It does work!
I used Bimmercode to set the rear signals to LED, and I have not had the problem since. Rear Electronic...LED conversion rear turn signals...set to Active.
Thanks. Mine were re-coded too. You can turn off the error warnings but that doesn’t fix the problem. The lights will still not work but you won’t get the warning.
Thank you. I will try the next time my 2018 OG lci M2 has that silly problem. Usually it happens when it rains....
It will work 👍🏻
I punched my left one and its worked a miracle, the right one is still playing up, Can anyone link a video on how to solder an extra earth to the lighting cluster? I have a 225d
Brilliant!
I’ve heard adding another ground wire to the light cluster fixes the issue permanently.
Thank you. Yes, that's something I'm planning to diy when I have some time.
@@MDrives wish I had known about it before I bought a new rear light cluster last year. At least when my left one plays up I know about it now lol.
Something I’ve found in my year of BMW ownership is it seems to confuse people because I use my indicators. I see it quite often when someone is sitting waiting to pull out of a junction and I’m indicating left to go into the junction they will sit there until I actually start to turn before they pull out, same at roundabouts. It’s almost if they are second guessing my indication. They must be thinking na, he’s not turning in here he must have knocked his indicator by mistake.
@@Mac_F87 well, the one will probably start playing in the future as well. They all start doing it at some point. In regards to actually using indicators, it’s super annoying wen someone doesn’t use them especially on roundabouts.
i can’t believe it, it actually works😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
I couldn’t believe myself! 😂
You guys use indicators? 🤔
🤣
I have the same problem in a m240i 2019
It affects all 2 coupes
Fist method works not only on indicators.
😆
Did you do the permanent fix. I have the same issue and would love to see a video of the fix.
Not yet but I will at some point this summer.
Unfortunately it didn't work on my BMW M2 2018. Tried it twice. Perhaps i didnt hit it hard enough lol! I know if i go to any garage they will charge me a fortune to ground the wire. Bloody annoying when i bought the car just over a year ago with 6k miles on the clock. Such a stupid issue, should be illegal for them to get away with this and get them recalled.
Maybe you didn’t hit it hard enough. It’s really ridiculous that they all do it and there wasn’t a recall.
hi, great tip! And how do you fix it , you need to take it garage? or its just a bulb issur?
Apparently there is a permanent fix to this issue which involves splitting the ground cable and attaching it to chassis.
having the same issue here, did u have a chance to try the permanent fix? thanks for sharing!
Hi. Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance yet.
I have the same problem on my 19' M2 Comp (turn right signal malfunction). Do you guys maybe have exact tutorial (step-by-step) how to do the permanent fix? Thanks!
Not yet. Sorry.
haha I was quoted ~£800 to have this fixed
Not a permanent fix.
@@MDrives I know I watched the video ;)
Wow this is happening on my m240i 2019 too.. How can I permanently fix it? Thanks
There is a way and I’m planning to do it.
@@MDrives Thank you!
This mean its just a loose connection
Apparently the earth/ ground connection is poor
So…is there a permanent fix to this issue? 😅😅 I just bought a two series 2018 and this happened, help please!
It’s not easy. You have to solder extra earth to it.
If you have the LED variant you need a whole new light, if you're lucky BMW will repair it for free with the BMW good will team.
@@infamous747 what I said previously apparently fixes them.
Hi, has a solution been found for this? I bought some lci rear lights for my m235i and this has begun happening 😢. If only I knew before buying it!
I haven’t tried the permanent fix yet.
@@MDrives it doesn't make sense, how just a lightish tap on the light can get it to work again. Quite bizarre
@@Zulu321 not a tap. You have to give it a bit of a hit. Must be something to do with connection somewhere.
Weird, I thought this was normal for indicators to not work on BMW?
Common misconception mate 😂 or I’m just a weirdo.
👏🏻😂
good old German engineering lol
😂
Lol
