Awesome. Just resurected a Burnside carbine carried by a JL Smith of the 22nd PA cavalry (initials and unit carved in the stock). They were very active in the valley from '64 to Oct of '65 (counter bandidtry operations in West VA).
    3in groups at 50 with 35gr Pyrodex 2F.

@@CivilWarDigitalDigest Just pulled up their history again, they were engaged at Cedar Creek. They initially were equipped with muskets and got into their first really hot engagement at Leestown on July 3rd, 1864. Then they skirmished with Early's advance at Snickers Ferry.
July 22nd they were pulled back to camp pleasant and issued full cavalry equipage. That's when he got the Burnsides I'm guessing.
Through August they were up and down the valley. Then on the 18th September they headed out with Sheridan for the epic and last Winchester campaign.
It had a big chunk otu of the comb which I had repaired, and now it's banging away again. It is now officially the prize of my collection.
