Oh sister, I think your family gave up such a potentially good home. Our culture is plagued with fear of the dark spirits. Realize that collective fear is the worst. Where, not just one, but the family, the clan, and even the whole culture believes. How can anyone, by themself, understand and clear their mind of such extreme feelings. So, yes, rituals will help, and it doesn't matter what story they give so long as you believe. But, you see, some beliefs are so strong, so mind deteriorating, that even rituals may not subside it. It is really a matter of belief in the harmonious health of the mind. This is why the next family, who did carry all of those fear factors, have the good home. Take care of your self and choose hope over fear. A little fear is good, but allot, and it'll steal you good life.
