This deserves way more attention, the darker tone is very well done. An extended version would be great!
Ok but why longer seriously? 10 minutes of listening to this and I'd be sick to my ears if I hear anything similar make you wanna rip your headphones off. 3 mins honestly is good enough think about it your not drowning yourself in only one song for so long
@@jeffrrey6791 Bro relax. How many extended versions of video game music have you seen on the internet? People like to hear things they like on repeat. It's part of what gave way to modern rap music, and hell, all video games play soundtracks on repeat. You don't have to be into it, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Really well done man! Love the choir elements you added. The whole song has a great feel. True to the original but updated and improved.
I have to say for this one I just recreated / mocked up all that I heard from the TGS demo, because I wanted t hear it without SFX. :)
When I mark my songs as "Mockup" or "Recreated" it means none of the contents in it are made by me.
That said, I love what they did with the choir too! Gives a much darker tone to this theme. And dark is always good.

I would be interested in hearing Alex's opinions as far as "original vs remake" goes with this track. I know Alex likes his orchestration and darker tone, but Mako Reactor happens to be the ONE track that FFVII fans didn't like in the remake. Literally the one misstep in most people's eyes (or should that be ears?). Most people think the original sounds better with the synth/industrial vibe and the machine-like sounds, rather than the clean-cut orchestration the remake brought. Personally I like both, but I'm with most fans on this one - it's the one track where I think the original captures the sound of the area better.

Wow.. at 0:15 the first "reactor-parts", which are keys in the original soundtrack reminds me here very to the Joker Soundtrack.
It reminds me of FFXIV First Coil of Bahamut theme here 0:12, I love it :D

Very dissapointing that the two impact full bell gongs were exchanged for soft piano notes. Many remade tracks changed especially strong tones to more "mysterious" ones which I find sad.

Choirs are way too loud. The thing I dislike about modern arrangements of orchestral music is every composition is chasing after that "epic feel", often leading to overusing of techniques. Echo, choirs, specific instruments, etc... There's a lot here I like, but I think this song should sound more spooky than grandiose / epic.
Amen !!! I exactly feel the same thing. That make me scare for the rest of there works about the remake. I think they don't even mind the inspiration of the original game you can easily make the link with Vangelis and Blade Runner but this smell like mainsteam shit.

Whilst that may be true for some pieces sometimes unbalance is good for driving a mood. Having an instrument or track stand out can give music a strong and unique feel, listen to ff12 Salikawood theme (especially from zodiac age) that choir literally shouts at certain points and it makes the song unique and characterful not to mention it fits perfectly. but agree that sometimes a loud choir and striving for dramatic vibes just doesn't fit, also I think its nice to hear rearrangements that are a different mood entirely from the original I personally like this ones emphasis on epic darkness.
