Without the lyrics I would have never thought this were about something serious or something. It reminds me of the Japanese song "Yuki No Shingun." I can only understand a few words in this song, purely because they sound similar to the English version of the word. Can anyone tell me whether both the music and the lyric are originally written for this song, or only the lyric is original? I love this song but am strangely quite a bit familiar to the music... thus making me think about whether this revolutionary song is like some others which adopt traditional folks with newly written lyrics, (like Solidarity Forever,) or the song itself is classic enough to circulate among the unknowing public.
As an Italian I can assure you that for nowdays it sound very fascist for an anti-fascist song, "youth" "daring" "we arent afraid of death" "we bring civilization" "we are strong and proud" "against the traitor of our faithful people" and even "we are gonna free the oppressed people" were all things that the fascist regime kept saying in his propaganda and songs.
And even "we do not fear death" sounds like a very fascist slogan, as literally the ww2 fascist organisation "Legiunea" from my native country of Romania used that very line in one of their most popular marches, but I think that you are only looking at the fact that the song sounded very similar to vile fascist propaganda in some parts, but overlooking the fact that it obviously is anti-fascist in that they mention killing fascists in it and is literally sung by partisans that did just that! "Actions speak louder than words" as the saying goes, and while I agree this song did not age well at all and betrays some underlying colonialist mentalities by those who wrote it, the Garibaldi brigade still was more anti-fascist than you and I are comrade and deserves respect for it, as they actually fought to topple a fascist regime and killed many fascists in the process!

The Brigata Garibaldi fought alongside Jugoslav partisans in the very same battleground (they entered in Trieste with the Slovenian brigades), so in their minds they felt absolutely consistent saying "we are gonna free the oppressed people".

As an Italian I can assure you that for nowdays it sound very fascist for an anti-fascist song, "youth" "daring" "we arent afraid of death" "we bring civilization" "we are strong and proud" "against the traitor of our faithful people" and even "we are gonna free the oppressed people" were all things that the fascist regime kept saying in his propaganda and songs.
And even "we do not fear death" sounds like a very fascist slogan, as literally the ww2 fascist organisation "Legiunea" from my native country of Romania used that very line in one of their most popular marches, but I think that you are only looking at the fact that the song sounded very similar to vile fascist propaganda in some parts, but overlooking the fact that it obviously is anti-fascist in that they mention killing fascists in it and is literally sung by partisans that did just that! "Actions speak louder than words" as the saying goes, and while I agree this song did not age well at all and betrays some underlying colonialist mentalities by those who wrote it, the Garibaldi brigade still was more anti-fascist than you and I are comrade and deserves respect for it, as they actually fought to topple a fascist regime and killed many fascists in the process!
That, or it's just for boosting morale during the war in occupied country? Who knows!

Yes, but just because all the soldiers who fought for the Resistence used to have a Fascist education during the dictatorship. The Brigata Garibaldi fought alongside Jugoslav partisans in the very same battleground (they entered in Trieste with the Slovenian brigades), so in their minds they felt absolutely consistent saying "we are gonna free the oppressed people".
