Poisson's ratio in Tamil | Shear Modulus in Tamil | Modulus of Rigidity in Tamil
Up to the elastic limit only, stress - strain ratio would be proportional and the ratio between the shear stress and shear strain is known as shear modulus of elasticity or modulus of rigidity.
Simply The value of shear modulus determines the value of rigidness of the material.
As an example steel has modulus of rigidity 75 GPa and aluminum has 28 GPa. Aluminum can distort easily than the steel in shear stress. In the most of times the Poisson's ratio exists from 0 to 0.5.
