- In this video we will explore torsion, which is the twisting of an object caused by a moment. It is a type of deformation. A moment which tends to cause twisting is called torque.
Some of the things covered in this video include how circular bars deform under torsion, how we can calculate the angle of twist, and how we can calculate the stresses and strains that are generated in a circular bar as a result of torsion. We will also discuss internal torque diagrams, and why torsional failure is different for brittle and for ductile and materials.

I'm a PhD structural engineer with 20 years in practice and I've never seen torsion being explained so simply and beautifully in 28 years of being in engineering. Excellent video.
Simply.... wished I had the math ability....
Many years ago...1968 was attending Cal Poly in Southern California.... Engineering 101 you might say.....
We were given a problem....
The Instructor gave a passing grade......then asked me to stop by at the end of class.....
She said I obtained the correct answer..... however I used to wrong equation...
One might say THE WRITING WAS ON THE WALL.....
SHE SUGGESTED PERHAPS A TECHNICIAN......
REALITY CAN BE A BUMMER !!!!
She didn't try to explain....
For she saw the TILT in my EYES.......🙄
eyo u free bro i got a test in 1 hour man,.

Hey the best of luck......
Be COOL AND RELAX BEFORE THE TEST...
@@williammaxwell4172 EYO means ???
Hope this channel gains traction, we engineers need it lol
don't stress, it'll be the torque of the town!
It would be nice if they got rid if the mid-video ads. Are they THAT hard up for revinue?! Their truss video has five of the f***ing things alone! It's bad enough having to put up with them at the beginning but total shit to have an explanation broken up by some dickhead governor campaigning for election. Before you even say it, no, I don't watch television because I hate commercials.
@@angelus_solus So you want them to make these videos for free and with no ads? How do you expect them to survive? They're not running a charity

God bless 🌹
a picture worth a thousand words.
A video worth a thousand pictures
A video is worth fps*(duration in seconds) pictures, in this case 14736 pictures
@sheldon fords ?
PLEASE continue making these types of videos. Our education system needs videos like these to visualize the problems, but unfortunately, our college system only sticks with textbooks which makes the topic harder to visualize and understand. You don’t know HOW MUCH YOUR VIDEOS ARE HELPING STUDENTS WORLDWIDE. Please continue making more on Engineering related topics
Thank you so much for the encouragement! :)
Yeah definitely, the concept of visualisation is must in educational institution....this 10 min video covers my 2 boring class lecture in such a appreciating way❤️

This is by far the best visualization i have seen so far in my engineering studies . Thanks so much, i hope you are able to make more videos like these
Dude, you're so amazing! I just found out about your channel and with my good graphic memory I now understand more about stress engineering, than I did before and I studied it in uni. I knew how to calculate it, but never fully understood it. That's no more the case, thanks to you!
If you'll do impacts and thermal stress, that would be awesome as well.
Good refresher from my statics class many years ago. As a practicing engineer in the field, I still love a good explanation.
ME/AE here. Just graduated. How often do you get to use these?
MrSidney9 with regards to hand calcs, not very much. But as I use ANSYS Mechanical every day, understanding the fundamentals is crucial in making good decisions.
@@BurnDuration Cool. Thanks.
How much do you earn?
your channel is the only reason i understand anything. online school isnt helping at all but you sure are! thank you so much
Really very good. Complexity made simpler. Good job
These videos are seriously incredible. I'm just starting my undergraduate Engineering degree at the University of Toronto this year, and I can already see myself coming back to this channel again and again over the next number of years.
These are so professionally done and honestly deserve to be the first video people see when looking to learn about these things. Good job! Especially with the animations, a game changer.
a great job indeed. in a Chinese saying goes, A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.. I am a mechanical student in hk , professors suck. This video touches me.
I'm a Japanese engineering student also studying Chinese.
Would you mind texting me the original Chinese sentence?

@potato u get the wrong meaning, it simply means that some ancestor’s effort benefits you. Just like we use Gauss equations for easy understanding of the equation of continuity. This channel is pure gold
Absolutely!
this channel literally blessed me for all my mechanical courses for mechanical engineering, KEEP UP THE FIRE VIDS
I am a mechanical engineer from India. The way you make your videos is incredible in itself. God bless you and lots of support and love from all the mechanical guys in India. Thank you so much for such amazing content.
