The whole swapping process should have been banned. The model you get should not matter. A model should be essentially a "walking mannequin" to showcase the clothes. Sure, some models can become a muse, an inspiration, they can "make" the designer alter the clothes around them or whatever but changing models is a slippery slope. At first you want a model of the "fitting" ethnicity, then you reject a model cause they're not fit enough, or too old, or not already super famous, etc. When you have your own brand you're welcome to pick your models but this is a DESIGN competition, the clothes should matter, not who is wearing them. No swapping, period.
The racism in this episode is just disgusting. A model was literally swapped away entirely because he didn't have the "correct" skin color. If this was an official job application, and a viable candidate was rejected purely because of his/her race, this will definitely qualify as a discrimination case in court. No matter how "cultural" or "revolutionary" a vision is, at the end of the day, fashion designers make clothes that will suit well with THEIR CLIENT (in this case, their model). Like in some episodes from past seasons where designers were assigned plus-sized models, or senior models. The designers worked around their models, and adjusted their design according to their assigned models. Because again, their model basically represents their CLIENT. What makes the situation even worse (in this episode), is that they actually "encouraged" and even "celebrated" this very obvious racism. Absolutely disgusting. For a person who advocates against racism, he sure knows how to be perfectly racist himself. He even looks totally unbothered by it. The irony is lost on this one.
I think Meg got pressured. She experienced how because of race there was a model swap. And she did not want to be cornered as racist when she was asked to do so too so she gave up on her model. She was pissed because she felt she had to do this. She did not have to do that but was too stressed out to handle that situation.well.... And the others directly involved might got wrapped up too much in their martydom to step back a little and see her situation too.
She was being extremely defensive and very rude to the model she got, she cares more about being labeled as not racist rather than actually not being a racist.....

They still haven't done much with the design yet so it was ok to switch ....but again if she was not comfortable then she should have said no very simple ....if you are helping then do it without bitching ....or else it's as good as not helping

As an autistic person, I recognised some traits in Meg. I don't think she got a fair shake, but is being made "the bad apple". Some situations annoyed me too, but still, I think a part is misinterpreted and exaggerated. I've also done an excavation on one of the Caribbean islands ( not Haïti), but I know, there is racism there from black people towards caucasians. And it's understandable to some extend, for the slavery past, the "sex" tourism etcetera, but as someone pointed out, it's still racism. Not all white or black folk are like that. I thought the island culture was beautiful and vibrant, highly talented people with strong community. Try not to hate anybody, love is the language of the universe.
Even though I am a fashion student, Im probably not gonna go joining Project Runway since my style is very old Hollywood and very historical in a sense because all the frills and bows and corsets are my thing and I want to reference the past rather than think of me becoming the next Christian Dior with my own innovations.
Think about sellability of the end products in addition to being fashionably fresh, stylish and practicality a person wear while walking on the street. Colour combination matters! The rest of nonsense thrash into the bin
I accidentally came across Project Runway, (haven't seen it in years; and thought to myself; well I loved the other season let's see) What a load of DRAMA~ Might as well have been watching some SOAP DRAMA of who's who in the zoo~ (One of the reasons I stopped watching TV channels) Though the Red-headed "designer" should have been professional, (Drama/ Drag Queen) The winner of this episode is not far behind in his actions, Would I support his design seeing how he acted by stirring and being all polite in front of the judges...? NO!!! Honestly, some of the other designers made an incredible effort in their designs. Sadly disappointed, I'll give the next episode a skip #TRASH

My work is mental health related and Yes, I can see she’s not prepared for the show. Or even ready for socializing. But the thing is, being mentally struggling….you still need to know the limits, and also not using other people as punching bags. (I’m not from USA and never had any plans to go there, so my perspective might be different from these contestants)
