    My knee hurts just watching this. I really don't know how anyone could stand it, especially the bigger fast bowlers.

      Its actually the opposite ...it is better for yr body and reduces injury

    Well explained video in terms of theory, thanks. But the great West Indian (very) fast bowlers of the 80s did not brace the front leg, so while the theory seems sound, perhaps it is not so important in practice. Also, I can't see how hamstring strength keeps your front leg straight - it is the quads that straighten and hold the leg straight.

      Hi Peter, thank you for your comment! A braced front leg certainly isn't required to bowl quick. Many quicks don't brace but it is a great way to stop all that momentum from the run-up quickly and transfer it upstream. Correct, that when the quad shortens it straightens the knee and of course the quads are important. But, if the hamstrings aren't strong in a lengthened position, then the body is simply going to bend the knee to avoid that lengthened position.

    pretty sure dale steyn bends the knee too. bracing is overrated it's more physiology that allows a person to do it than technique.

      It's not necessary to bowl quick, you're right. This video is simply talking about why it is beneficial:
      1) Acts a brake
      2) Increases delivery height
      3) Reduces lateral flexion
