I do really like him in this situation. When he's calling bruin games I can't stand him but when he takes a step back and talks hockey he's actually pretty interesting
that was my thoughts after i listened to him on ESPN on Ice a few months ago
He’s very knowledgeable about hockey and he’s a pretty genuine guy, he’s just paid to be very biased towards the Bruins, but it’s kinda weird cause he doesn’t really reflect your typical Bruins fan, Bruins fans are not delusional and biased fans, Bruins fans sometimes get confused with Celtics fans who are all biased.

My dad was born in Boston and still roots for the Bs.... he cant stand this guy. Doesnt matter if marchand goes full bertuzzi on a player then licks the refs, Edwards will say its great hockey. Im all for an enthusiastic play by play (like the Avs' guy), but this guy is just cancer
he’s a bruins fan, paid to be a bruins fan, which is exactly how he comes across in his broadcasts. but wow this guy deserves to be much higher up in broadcasting. i’m sure everyone in the US would want him over Milbury or Roenick as a hockey analyst

@@swaggyp2741 The Jacobs family literally has an ownership stake in NESN. I think the disconnect is that in Canada, while you typically have the same play-by-play crew calling all of the games for one team, they are either Sportsnet or TSN, so they are a national broadcaster. They are supposed to be relatively impartial. That doesn't exist in the US. There are national broadcasts, but most fans see their favorite teams on regional networks. They are only broadcasting to THAT fanbase, so they SHOULD be a little more biased.
It's a foreign concept to a lot of leafs fans because we have a Vancouver fan calling our games
I feel like people confuse a sportsnet/tsn sportscaster and a local/team sportscaster. Every team has a caster that sounds very biased, cause that's what they're there for, as opposed to say Jim Hughson or Doc Emrick.

He acts like a clown and makes some truly outrageous comments, but it's nothing worth getting upset over. It is comical more than anything. Dude just puts his blinders up and tells you Chara is the best d man in the game today XD
@@EvidenceFragmentary The truth is it's infuriating to listen to as a fan of another team but it's so much better to listen to a guy call the games who has passion. Honestly fans of other teams need to listen to this video and close their eyes and imagine Joe Bowen calling games for their team. Nobody calls a game with more passion and excitement than him.

@@joer8854 Part of me thinks he also knows how infuriating it is and intentionally plays into that because he's on the homer network of the Bruins; so being a homer is to be expected when you're commentating for your home team on a local network against "the other guys" and not commentating a nationally-broadcast hockey game.
Stuff like this shows that he's a very good hockey analyst when he's not putting on that Boston homer look for the NESN broadcast.
He is pretty much Boston's Bowen. Hard to hate a guy like him.

Derek Lasker Same thing happened w the 95 Red Wings the year they set the record for points. They got knocked out in the semis but won the cup the next year. Look at Washington as well, win the presidents trophy 2 yrs ago but won the Stanley cup the next year. Tampa should go further next year.

Other fans forget that not only does he work for NESN, but the Bruins have an ownership stake in NESN. The Bruins sign his paycheque. Are you gonna trashtalk the person/group that signs your cheque?
as a professional broadcaster you give a honoust unbiased call to the point where a blind Leaf fan and a blind B's fan could have a reasonable balanced accurate understanding of the game. Are you going to talk trash? If trash is served by the B's, than you give/talk what is deserved.... Being a pro means you get many who will sign "your" pay cheque.
Being "passionate" does not trump being a professional in your chosen industry.

People need to realize why Bruins fans love this guy. I mean REAL Bruins fans.. We don’t love Jack because he hypes the B’s, we love him because he really knows what he’s talking about, we can see through the hyping & realize how dedicated he is to the game. JENNA CATON good announcer, but he takes things too far at times. There’s no need to yell at players on opposing teams like he did with Hamrlik in 2011. He should tone it down, but I’m guessing he won’t. That’s ok. Not the end of the world. I think he’s so emotional that he goes too far sometimes, but I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Great guest to have on. I really don't get the dislike of this guy. Why, because he's associated with a hockey team you don't like? Seems like a pretty down to earth, and likeable guy.
This was a good little piece on T&S.
It's refreshing hearing him actually give a good conversation. When he takes a minute to step back from the game, Jack can be a good person to talk to.

Marner is a franchise player, and Dubie will sign him; to either a bridge contract or a back loaded contract where he make's 7M next year, and 13M in year 7-8 or 9. Which would be better than a bridge contract, because Kapanen and Johnsson need signing too. There will be no offer sheets to any of these players from other teams, because Dubie will have tied them up all up before July1st.

Bruins fan here, I just love to see the Bruins and Maple Leafs battle in the playoffs, there is so much history with the Leafs, I enjoy the old timers and the new, wearing that big Maple leaf and that striking Blue and white uni! I remember the Bruins sweeping the Leafs in 74 but every single game was nail biter, Toronto will never roll over, it will be a fight to the end!

I've warmed to him over the year (still can't stomach Brickley but that's another matter), he knows his base, it's a regional network so of course he's going to preach to the converted. I'm all set for a game 7 come what may.

Many people love the familiarity of generic things. Pop music, ways of speaking, memes, hairstyles, whatever. Jack Edwards is weird & different. So the partial dislike of him is normal, because he's not generic. But make no mistake, he's one of the very best at what he does.

as a Habs fan growing up in boston, I HATED this guy. apart from his double standards when the Bruins play dirty he's actually very entertaining
well the Bruins playing dirty is the only way they know how to play. Boston Bruins (aka the 'OJ Simpson of the NHL' as they get away with murder) can't win when the refs/linesmen won't/don't let them play dirty. But yeah, I have watched the Bruins broadcast (on Rogers NHL Centre Ice, or whatever its called) online (to avoid Jim Hughson the other Leaf hating jerk) and his homerism is beyond being tolerable. Bruins' dirty plays are called hockey plays by Edwards, but then Jack Edwards demands penalties and/or suspensions when the Bruins' opponents make the same hits against the Bruins. Double standards for sure
