me d I suggest you do research on the word african!!! Because so call Black people in America are not Africans!! So you are right, we are non-africans!
me d well that was a ignorant response. One SHE IS NOT MIXED. If you're mixed that means you are directly mixed, not your great great great aunt whoever tf was Indian or white. If one of your parents or both of your parents are biracial that would make you biracial. Both of her parents are BLACK. I know you're going to argue that no one is pure anything anymore blah blah but when people ask what I am I say black. Because both of my parents are black. I don't say well I'm like 13.3% Native American because my great grandmother was half Indian and my grandmother was creole. Like the fuck? I'm black. I check black on my census forum. She could have 1% Irish in her the girl is still black that doesn't make her mixed lmao. And black women wear weaves for many reasons. Wearing weaves gives you the opportunity to change your hair style and color often without damaging your Natural hair. It's also a protective style. I don't wear weave or anything like that but I'm tired of people coming for black women as if weave is just such a bad thing. All hair fucking grows if it's taken care of properly. God. Educate yourself.
me d and that Is still not true. That's making a generalization that only west Africans have long hair. Just as it is here in America that you have to be mixed to have long hair. That isn't true. Most people don't even use the term mixed or biracial properly. If I took a DNA test and found out exactly what's in me, I wouldn't go around classifying myself as mixed because I have .5% German in me or whatever. I'm black. If both your parents are black and their parents were black and weren't mixed then you're black. As you go down the line of generations the percentage of whatever you're mixed with decreases. It doesn't stay the same. So just because someone's great great great grandmother was mixed does not make the current generation of kids mixed. And no one said short tight curls aren't beautiful you're making that assumption which isn't your place. I personally like long hair on myself and I like my curly long hair. On other people, I think their short hair or tight curls are beautiful. But black is not one skin tone, eye color, or hair texture or hair length and people need to understand that.
me d also on census forums you can check more than one box. So it gives you that option if you're mixed. But both my parents are black. I have Native American in me as my great grandmother was half Native American my grandmother was creole, but I am not mixed. My grandmother would've been 1/4 Indian making my mother about an 1/8 Indian which isn't enough to be considered mixed. My friend is half white half black that is mixed. When both parents are mixed like half Dominican half white and half Jamaican half whatever you wanna put there the child would be dominican white Jamaican and whatever else the other parent is. That is MIXED. If you're not directly mixed then you don't consider yourself mixed. The twins parents Kelsey and Kendra, their parents are both black. Most blacks have Native American in them somewhere but that does not make them mixed if their parents aren't directly mixed. You can tell their hair is not weave when they part their hair. You can easily tell when someone is wearing a weave. You can actually see the growth of their hair if you track their videos back from like 4 or 5 years ago. How you take care of your hair helps it grow. Sometimes just being natural doesn't make your hair grow. You can never take a flat iron to your hair or chemically process it and it won't grow if you don't use the right products get trims when necessary or cleanse your hair properly. Some people can treat their hair like shit and it'll still grow. That doesn't make it healthy. The vast majority have to actually take care of their hair. Cleansing it properly. Deep conditioning, eating right, drinking enough water blah blah blah. My hair is long not as long as theirs but it's getting there and I'm black lmao. Not white and black but black. Race/ethnicity isn't the only factor to why people can or can't have long hair
+glamtwinz334 would you girls ever do a video of a doing a client's hair or showing us a few techniques from cosmetology on a mannequin like the diagonal forward and a graduated pixie maybe. I just started at the International Institute of Cosmetology.
Hey Kelsey! I know you and Kendra don't do much with your hair which is understandable because it's your hair and that's what you like but since both of you have hair like Rapunzel (lol) could you one day do a fish tail braid tutorial or goddess braids tutorial? If not I understand but it never hurts to ask #ThanksForInspiring 😊
Y'all "subscribers" get on my last nerve!!!! So rude!!! They're asking about your gender like wtf are they stupid or just stupid!! I was so close to cursing them out but them I remember I promised I wasn't going to be petty this year!!! Loved this Kelsey!!
+glamtwinz334 Thank you for making this video, i will be trying out the redken line on my natural hair to strengthen my hair and stop breakage on my ends. Is redken for straight hair though? Because i don't put heat on my hair but i want something that has protein in it.
I love that you and Kendra don't do all these random techniques and methods found in the natural hair community (not that there's anything wrong with them!) and your hair is flourishing! You girls enjoy your hair the way you want such as heat-styling and its still healthy looking. You guys and MoKnowsHair are my go to natural hair gurus.
Right, they're the whole reason I went ahead n went natural lol, I've always had thick hair but It's never grown past my shoulder blades or so..I'm tryna get my hair like them shoot lol
+Binta Touray she did use a towel, but she wasn't wearing her curly! I think if you're about to blow-dry and straighten it doesn't matter as much. Using a t shirt or microfibre is more important if you're doing a wash n go, maybe (to reduce frizz and whatnot).
+Sweetsongbird82 I was the same way. I had like a long bob length when my hair was relaxed and it just never seemed to grow past that point. Now I've been natural for 4 years and have hair down my back. (Somewhere between bra strap and mid back length) And I wear it straight a lot of the time and as soon and it gets wet my curls come right back like it had never been straight. I love my natural curls too but it is definitely a lot harder to manage curly hair lol.
+Binta Touray One girl on UA-cam actually told me that when I said I use to straighten my hair a lot lol Some people in the natural hair community think they have all the answers but different things work for different people. The twins have actually had heat damage and still straightened their hair and kept it healthy and growing
Melanin Princess I am aware of what u was thanking them for but I also wanted to add my comment to educate young black girls that their hair shrinks. A lot of black children think they have short hair so I hoped my comment educated them.
Melanin Princess It's ok. Every race can grow long hair. It's just comments like this that suggests black hair is long because it is straightened but I wanted to state-it's long when its natural too-it just shrinks a lot!
Lulu Zepeda do it yourself! Just get a really good flat iron and blow dryer, that's what I did, use a brush to blow dry your hair out in sections, just like this vid. I bought a izutech flat iron and blow dryer, its the best on the market and comes out like you had a dominican blowout! The flat iron is the key! 😉💕
OMG... I'm only 25 seconds in, and just from the into my mouth is nearly hitting my keyboard, so BEAUTIFUL!!! Makes me wanna switch it up and alternate wearing my hair curly and then straight. Love it!!
Whenever I read rude or unnecessary comments I always find myself clicking on their page lol and it's almost always chicks with either no pics or they look like little men with eye brow length hair smh 👹👶🏾 #stophating #growup
I officially lost count of how many times I've watched this video since yesterday 😫 you just slayed my whole life 🙌🏾 so can we get an updated " How to grow your hair " video
I am so sorry in one of your vlogs I asked what kind of hair you had I'm sorry if I disrespected you... I thought it was a weave that's how nice it looked you both have beautiful hair
girl I was thinking the same thing, wow six years is a long ass time, lol but I think it still depends on hair type too, their grain of hair may not break of as easily,
The Redken deep conditioner gave my hair life! The suggestion from you ladies to buy this is oh so true as my hair was damaged I started using this and never looked back my hair is stronger and has less breakage. Thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
Girl yes!! I bought it as well from them suggesting it and the Manuka honey one from SheaMoisture. I alternate between the two and my hair is stronger, more moisturized and to top it off finally growing
Your hair has grown so long and healthy in the last few years, it honestly had inspired me to start a hair journey two years ago. I went from SL to passing BSL and all thanks to both you and your sister. I'm actually relaxed but your product tips still help so much. No matter what route you choose, all hair types just need some TLC to grow strong and healthy. I hope you and Kendra continue to inspire more women. Love you guys!
God bless your patience because I would have given up after the blow drying , the way my lazy arms is set up , that would have been a two day process lol 😩
That's the length that I need my hair to be! I've been natural for 4 years already. My hair is a little past my armpits. Seems like it's been around that length for a while. I've started deep conditioning more often and moisturizing and sealing my ends regularly. I massage my scalp, keep it in a braid or two at night and on days when I don't go nowhere. I used to do all this regularly but have been lazy. Getting back into these habits to maintain my length and keep it growing.
Thank you SO much for all the details you list in your videos. I have watched many videos and you're one of the rare ones that provided ALL details of methods and products.
LOVVVE! Your hair...!! 👌🏾 Do a video of how you wrap or what you do to your hair at night to keep it straight in order to avoid re-flat ironing it the next morning.. 👏🏾😀
I have learned so much about my hair by watching you ladies. I have been able to achieve middle back length from a very short bob (I had no hair on my neck) in about 2 years. Not because my hair "grows fast" or it's "good hair" but because I have learned to properly care for it and retain length. I realized weaves just don't work well for my fine, dense hair. I cut my heat time by 60%. That alone makes a huge difference in length retention. Also, I went from the standard 6-8 week trims to 3 times a year. Thank you, thank you so much for teaching this old dog some new tricks!
Can you please maybe do a video on how to protect and maintain your edges to prevent breakage. I think that's an issue a lot of girls probably struggle with.
Omg your hair is beautiful all the ladies in my family has long hair but my neice miss toedoe has a utube channel omg your hair is long like her hair is and her daughter's hair is like this what a blessing💖this is how hair look when you take care of it beautiful💖
Michelle Johnson They get heat damage but not a lot. It be mostly in the front (when you watch a curly hair video you can tell) but they don't seem to be bothered by it bc their hair is very healthy overall plus just bc you have heat damage doesn't mean you have to chop all your hair off. They grow it out and trim accordingly to keep the length
OMGSH the intro was everything , haven't stopped by this channel in a minute don't know why and even I thought for some reason you added extensions YOU BETTA WORKKKKKKKKKK KELSEY yassssss healthy hair ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You and your sister are the only reason why I went natural. I was looking for something that could possibly help my hair from being so dry, and brittle. I came across y'all channel almost two years ago, and it's been two years since I've been natural. Y'all are truly inspiring! My hair is thicker, fuller, super curly, and currently residing on my shoulders. But, I'm trying to get like y'all because your hair is ridiculous. I'm so in love with it!
i've been in situations where a big chop could have been a option, but i decided to better trim it until theres no damage hair because a big chop is worst. then you have to wait until it grows and then you dont know how to comb your hair or style it because its too short.
My hair length is currently similar to yours back in 2014, I see the progress it's made since then till now and OMG WOW!! I can't wait till my hair gets long like yours! FUTURE HAIR GOALS
I’ve watched this video way too many times 😭 I don’t even like long intros but I swear I could watch one of you just flipping your hair for like 5 minutes 😭😭😭😭
@yanicca bright OMG! Yes girl. I hate that soooooooooo freaking much. It's like people are not used to black girls having long hair so they think we're lying. Smh!
I'm Somalian and when I took off my hijab for swimming in gym class all the girls kept staring at my hair noticing how long it was LOL I kinda liked the attention😂
I bought this flat iron and starting the chase method.... let me tell you my hair was sooooo sleek! This flat iron is everything. No snagging and doesn’t burn my hair.
That's my problem as well but I've combat it with my own routine. I do a heavy oil treatment before washing my hair then rinse my hair leaving in some of the oil not too much where it's weighed down but enough so it's soft. I make sure to do this on clean hair so I shampoo and deep condition before the heavy oil treatment. Once that's done I let my hair air dry in four section braids with hair ties aka the braided banding method to stretch my hair. The next day I apply a LOT OF heat protectant the tresemma heat spray that protects up to 450° degrees and flat iron my hair on a heat between 400° and 420° if I estimated I would say 415°. I straighten using a boar bristle brush and do ONE pass, I don't mess with my roots I just do ONE pass and it gets it laid. The oil helps it lay flat but it's kind of dull and lifeless because of the oil so I wear a cloth hair wrap to dry out the oil or you can use an old pillow case your choice and leave it on your hair for 4-5 hours to soak up the extra oils and once that's done my hair is light and moveable. Hope this helps you. ♡♡♡♡
I'm a little past collarbone length. And I'll be 3 years natural in a few months! My hair stylist says I can be mid back length by the summer time! I'm hoping!!! Try eating more healthy food and lots of dark green veggies! 😄💁🏾
Drink lots of water!!! Eat a healthy diet and sweat lol. It's honestly good for your hair growth. When I was relaxed my hair never grew past the bottom of my neck like a longer bob. I've been natural for 4 years now and my hair is between bra strap and mid back length. Keep hope alive honey! You'll get there!!
Thank you so much for this video!!! Using a bristle brush is life; I tried it for the first time and my roots have never been so straight! No need for a salon visit again.
Your hair looks healthy shiny and it looks more longer than your previous videos you and your sister are doing a great job of showing natural hair care!
I remember when I started watching y'all years ago. Y'all already had long hair but said u wanted to reach waist length as your ultimate goal. Now you passed it! Absolutely love it 🙌💕
Baby when I say FACE WAS BEAT for me, my family, the neighbors &&&&& they neighbors too!! Lol you didn't have to SLAYYYYY like that Kelsey!! #GoneGirl 😩😍
your hair is beautiful !! you guys are the reason I stopped putting heat to my hair and stopped getting short hair cuts hopefully in a year or two my hair will be that length! :)
Thank you for sharing your regimen. I truly appreciate your taking the time to show us every step. I just started transitioning. I believe your methods are going to help me keep my hair natural and healthier this time around.
This is SO inspirational! It just gave me a boost of motivation to grow my hair out! I get SO excited whenever I get a notification for you and Kendra's videos!
I definitely love your method for flat ironing thick hair! I have long (not at long as yours lol), thick, naturally curly hair too and never really got the results I wanted. So I really try your way next time ! Thanks !
So pretty I could cry...
The thickness and length of your hair gets me teary eyed. It's so beautiful lol.

Thank you for showing that black people can grow long hair, and inspiring me to go natural💕
Black hair has always been long. It just shrinks a hella lot in its natural state!
Tanya Renaissance Ik I was just thanking them for showing other people that we can grow long hair too.
Melanin Princess I am aware of what u was thanking them for but I also wanted to add my comment to educate young black girls that their hair shrinks. A lot of black children think they have short hair so I hoped my comment educated them.

it's a protein conditioner it's not for everyday use. You can use the Anti snap leave in treatment instead. I hope that helps.

+liltiger882004 thanks.. Can someone paste the link so I can watch 🤗
+blkboricua21 just look it up
+liltiger882004 thank you!!
+Penelope Grim I got it thank you!
I got so excited when I seen this video in my notifications love it your hair motivates us to grow out who said black women can't grow out long hair
Beautiful hair, love the length!!! Major hair goals. The Redken all soft and anti-snap are some great products!!!
How can you flatiron so often and so straight without getting heat damage? So may of the other bloggers are so VERY concerned with heat damage.
+Kinky Koily Kayla thanks...
your such an inspiration to the community. You will never believe how many people you've helped. Thankyou and Kendra so much. xxx

Weekend
one of your sections is my whole head do you guys have any advice for thin/fine hair I know you both went to cosmetology school
It’s genetics
You and your sister are the only reason why I went natural. I was looking for something that could possibly help my hair from being so dry, and brittle. I came across y'all channel almost two years ago, and it's been two years since I've been natural. Y'all are truly inspiring! My hair is thicker, fuller, super curly, and currently residing on my shoulders. But, I'm trying to get like y'all because your hair is ridiculous. I'm so in love with it!
Beautiful hair. Great texture and thickness.
Still watching in 2018 Kelsey. #HairGoals
April Denice WORD!!!
2019
Me too
You and your sister have lovely hair. This hairstyle is exquisite. But I love your curly hair as well. I love the bounciness to it.
this really makes me feel bad about my 3rd big chop😣
Don't worry. The hair will be back soon.
+Cindy99765 your comment gave me hope again😀😀😀
it will grow again but dont chop it again. Good luck
+lis dc lol...believe me Im NOT!!!! lol
i've been in situations where a big chop could have been a option, but i decided to better trim it until theres no damage hair because a big chop is worst. then you have to wait until it grows and then you dont know how to comb your hair or style it because its too short.
My hair length is currently similar to yours back in 2014, I see the progress it's made since then till now and OMG WOW!! I can't wait till my hair gets long like yours! FUTURE HAIR GOALS
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous, you go girl!
hair goals omg. I'm going to try chasing with a brush I use a small tooth comb but im thinking a brush could be better. Favorite tip from this video
y'all make us so proud man!
I’ve watched this video way too many times 😭 I don’t even like long intros but I swear I could watch one of you just flipping your hair for like 5 minutes 😭😭😭😭

WTFFFF ..... MY HAIR GOALS ALL THE DAMN WAY 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Girl that hair looks beautiful i love it I'm latina and i totally hate the fact that they have the stereotype of black girl don't have hair 😠
I hate it too because no ones believes my hair is REAL. It's soooooooo frustrating. Smh!
+Jelly4rm904 I see you Jville but fr, people always think i have weave in. Then when i say its my real hair they wanna touch it smh
@yanicca bright OMG! Yes girl. I hate that soooooooooo freaking much. It's like people are not used to black girls having long hair so they think we're lying. Smh!
Girl, I am also latina long straight hair here. I love her hair 😍 love straight but love love love her naturally curly hair.
I'm Somalian and when I took off my hijab for swimming in gym class all the girls kept staring at my hair noticing how long it was LOL I kinda liked the attention😂
Your hair is gorgeous. I don't know how many times I've watched this video. Love it
I bought this flat iron and starting the chase method.... let me tell you my hair was sooooo sleek! This flat iron is everything. No snagging and doesn’t burn my hair.
great video, how do you all keep your hair from reverting while taking a shower or in the humidity period?
That's great question! I would like to know too
That's a great question! I would like to know too
She probably wraps it with a silk scarf then puts a shower cap
+Kinky Koily Kayla Yep. That's what I do. Works like a charm.🙆🏾
+Kinky Koily Kayla absolutely I do silk scarf then bandana then shower cap steam is not my friend lol
Humidity won't allow me to have this style 😕😕😩
Just to point out, this is her fall and winter routine...so humidity gets the best of us girl even her I'm sure
Right! Humidity would have me looking like a troll. I have to wear it curly every day lol
Love it, question? Does your hair get dry within the week, Prior to your next hair wash? If so, what do you do or put on your hair?
oh girl u are so lucky to have all that BEAUTIFUL HEALTHY STRONG LONG hair IM JEALOUS of you
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! So healthy. I can tell that you've been taking good care of your hair since very young. Great video!
Forget the products - I wan't that blow dryer!
RIGHT!
Meanwhile I can't get passed shoulder length.😩
I'm stuck at armpit length! 😕
How about ear length! Lok
I'm a little past collarbone length. And I'll be 3 years natural in a few months! My hair stylist says I can be mid back length by the summer time! I'm hoping!!! Try eating more healthy food and lots of dark green veggies! 😄💁🏾
It goes to the top of my shoulder blades in the back though.
YAASSSSSS! Missed the hair videos
Thank you so much for this video!!! Using a bristle brush is life; I tried it for the first time and my roots have never been so straight! No need for a salon visit again.
Your hair looks healthy shiny and it looks more longer than your previous videos you and your sister are doing a great job of showing natural hair care!
Why am I just now seeing this?! Goals! 🙌🏾
34 haters that probably have "top of the ear" length hair 🤔😂

Have you done a video lately on how you wrap your hair for bed? Interested to see how you wrap hair of that length. Would be super informative!
