      @@desisernaguitar Oh sorry, I took the liberty and abbreviated your "How Does This Song Work" series ( first letter of each word) ... similar to Rick Beato's "What Makes This Song Great" series of videos that is commonly abbreviated "WMTSG".
      How often does Gary Moore get overlooked in the discussions of Guitar Greats that we've lost? His blues playing was like an entirely different career. I truly appreciate you showing him the love Desi, you're the best !! Stay safe my friend.

    Desi, What were your effects settings for this song?

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  4 роки тому

      For the clean sound, chorus, delay, and reverb. For the lead, high gain Marshall, neck humbucker with tone on 2 and volume on 8, delay, reverb. Specifically, I used the Kemper Profiling Amplifier.

    Could you play a B half dimished instead of the Dm/B? I find it easier to play.

      Sure. It's the same notes either way, just a different arrangement of them.

    Thanks. What I always found confusing about this song is that it's considered a blues song but it doesn't use the blues chord progression or the blues scale.

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  2 роки тому +1

      So true! It's not actually a "blues." It's a song with lyrics about having the blues.

      @@desisernaguitar Isn't the chord progression for this song very similar to Parisienne Walkways?

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  2 роки тому +2

      @@guitarob Yes, "Parisienne Walkways" has similar chord movement. It's based on what's called a circle progression. Circle progressions are based on movement in 4ths or 5ths Ala the circle of 5ths (which is also the circle of 4ths when you move in the opposite direction). You hear this used in songs such as Lionel Richie's "Hello" and the Rosh Hashanah song "BaShana HaBa'ah."

    Is there any particular reason that only 4 notes are played for F9 and E7(#9) chord in chorus section ?

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  2 роки тому +1

      Are you referring to what you see in the official tablature? If so, if it's an accurate piece of tablature, they will notate only what they heard played. Guitarist don't always play full chord shapes. Sometimes they focus on the higher pitch notes or the lower pitch notes or something in between depending on the sound they want and how they want to fill space.

    How stupid it is when some one pretends to teach you Gary moore song and lefting out the song most important thing which is the tone settings

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  2 роки тому

      Well, this is an overview of the music theory, not an overview of his gear and tone. That said, the clean sound I use has reverb, delay, and chorus FX. For the lead, I'm using a high gain amp setting, a neck position humbucking pick up, volume all the way up on the guitar but tone knob rolled back to about 20%. I have some delay on the lead as well. Check out this other video of mine to learn how to dial in general guitar tones for rock music. ua-cam.com/video/iZzz3AWam14/v-deo.html
