"A Hack With A Knack" ...Wow.
Shmakespeare
He got so into his character
Perfectly in character! And he nailed it
every video of him i’ve seen has been so consistent with character!
yeah but imagine this but its some random kid wearing headphones in a classroom
Nonloper _potato I totally haven’t burst out singing this in my English class when we were doing Macbeth...
my teacher almost cried cause I was doing the different voices and stuff 😂😂
Ella TRUE! we were talking about the renaissance and we reached shakespeare with hamlet and i silently hummed this the entire 1 hour
Conspiracy confirmed: Rob is a living cartoon character.
Boxless Thinking you’re not even wrong !!!! Chaplin proves it !!
Boxless Thinking that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking the entire time!
Well hes in beetlejhice as Adam maitland, so now he's a dead cartoon character
Reminds me of the Grinch, lol
@@NONIMNO b
“dum duh dum TAH DAH SHAKESPEAR” I have replayed that part 500 times
me toooo... even one of the backup guys can't keep a straight face :D
Same. Also, don't we all watch this repeatedly? XD
Yup same!!!
Sammmmme😂🤣 Also the collar around his throat part with flaring hands
1:42
After Beetlejuice I can’t unsee him as Adam Maitland
i didn’t even know that rob was in this, which makes it even better lmao
Rose C same hun, same
hey same
Rose C i feel like he’s talking about beetlejuice in this ngl
Same
I love that when they ask him about it at the end, Rob starts saying "I hate the-" and then stops himself to say "My CHARACTER"
Seriously love the way they managed to make a song where the lead singer is at time actually incoherent with rage and yet still sings.
Its like a 5 year having a tantrum
With a valid argument.
And they’re winning
And its catchy
Lmao yeah
“I do, I hate Shakespeare.”
“I hate baseball, I really do.”
Lone Wolf YESS!
Unlike the rest of you, I hate baseball.
uNlIkE tHe ReSt Of YoU
Its wierd how he swings the bat
And why does he have to throw like that
Kamcion slIDE JA S O N
"We really wish he'd take this more seriously"
1:45 bro his acting... TEN OUT OF FREAKING TEN
Its ryan McClure😎👁
@@rainybopz no it's robert maclarn
‘They’re all “yah:D” and I’m all “ergh!” ‘ part killed me like his voice, face, the postures, it’s just pure comedy
1:58 2:01 For if you wanna replay it over and over again. You’re welcome.
Random Guy lol ty fav part
Best part
Thank youuu
You know me so well♡
Thank
I don’t know why but the height difference between Rob and the rest of the cast in this song is just making this so much better 😅😅
Yesss, short and angry! Perfect!
"Don't be a penis, the man is a genius."
Truly an insult Shakespeare would have liked
I wish I could use that insult at school
@@Eddie6360 I say it anyway
“His genius is he’s fooling all of you!”
That’s one of the best lines ever. I’m in the pit for my hs, and I think I’m going to burst out into laughter 😂
Rob McClure is my favourite Nick Bottom, he’s so so funny
slytheringirl1 I don’t know, I feel Brian d’Arcy played him a bit more seriously, and it made it more funny when he had moments like this. But Rob McClure still does a great portrayal of Nick Bottom.
slytheringirl1 hello fellow slytherin!
Musical Macy J Bryan d'Arcy!!!!
i love both rob and brian thooooooo
I like both Rob and Brian's interpretations of Nick Bottom. I'm excited to see the 2018-19 touring production and see what Matthew Janisse brings to the role!
2:12 I love that part 😂😂👍 he is literally like a cartoon character
2:33 the background guys face
Should use that as his headshot
I can't-
He said 👁O👁
Also great is his face at 2:03 when he's getting a kick out of (and pointing at) Nick's little tantrum dance.
I'm immature and I always laugh at "don't be a penis the man is a genius" sue me
i won't that's literally my favorite quote (well the entire show is one big quotable moment but)
Saaaame XD
Whoever plays Nick Bottom always gets so into the character!
Rob McClure ^_^
the backups are hot!
christin DisneyGirl the center right guy behind nick was Shakespeare when I saw it!

I laughed so hard, lmao!!!
should I send this to my English teacher? I’m asking bc I’m learning about it for school
Ismatarax I would! 😂😍💕
Ismatarax why do you have his/her number
Did Bel You can email video links
i was gonna do it but then uhh “penis”
@@gracedorothy430 Penis is an acceptable anatomical term in medicine, biology, and art.
2:33 the guy in the back is a big mood
Holy crap. I went to see _Something Rotten!_ at the INB Performing Arts Center in Spokane, Washington. It was the best musical I have ever seen in my life. I loved it so much, and I got to meet 2 of the actors in the show! I met the Minstrel, who was SO nice, and he even asked me how I was doing! It was SO amazing, and I met the man who plays Nick Bottom, just for a quick second. I met him by accidentally almost running into him, actually. The guy singing this song... I MET him... It's so crazy to think that. Wow.
Rob McClure is so sweet! I met him when I saw the show at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, Maryland. I hope to meet him again when I see the show for a 2nd time in Washington D.C. It's such a great show.
Isa Paley Please take me with you!! Its my favorite musical in the entire world.
Omigosh Rob is the best, isn't he?! Just pure kindness and dad-like energy.
I still have my “it’s hard to be the bard” shirt and wear it regularly. This was a great play
I can feel this on a spiritual level. My teacher gives out sonnets and excerpts from Shakespeare and we have to answer questions on like what he was meaning when he said this, or what feeling did he portray when he said that, and we do them like every month or so, and I just cannot with those things
Yeah, sadly, school drains the life out of it by over analyzing it to death. Shakespeare wrote for the common folk and he wanted to keep working, so there's a lot of tawdry jokes and innuendos thrown in, so no one would be hit by thrown food. A lot of the language he created was periodic slang that was used within that working community. How a bunch of old people got together and decided it would be great to study the works like it was an ancient language key that could unlock the answers to the universe is beyond me. Not to undervalue his writing, mind you.
My dad hates Shakespeare too
I'm jealous! I love Shakespeare and we spend like 0 time on his stuff
TheDamianvain17 I agree, we did Romeo and Juliet recently and I love the play but the work on it almost made me hate it
Shakespeare is really meant to be watched. If you read it without knowing / liking the play then it just destroys all enjoyment
Him: god I hate shakespeare
Everyone else: *suprised pikachu face*
The time I saw Something Rotten, I couldn’t hate Shakespeare, because he was played by Adam Pascal ( OBC Roger from Rent ). I absolutely love Rob’s performance in this!! He’s so animated, I can really feel his pain😂
I didn't really like Adam as Shakespeare even though I love him. But at least I got to meet him!
I saw him (Adam Pascal) as Shakespeare tonight! I saw him at Diamond head theater. 'Something Rotten' is a freaking amazing musical
2:00 is the highlight of this song
2:30 just the shock on the ensemble men's faces when he says "the poster child for why no one should ever procreate"
I used this song to start my presentation about Shakespeare and my teacher loved it, I even got an A* 😅
god this guy is such a good theater actor, he gets so in his role and fully goes for it, i love it!
Every detail about this performance is just so right. His acting, the ensemble reacting to him, the singing... I'll never get over it haha
I LOVE ROB MCCLURE SM AHHAGHDS
I clicked on this because I was just watching random musical videos in my recommended videos, but holy shit do I love Rob McClure as Nick Bottom.
I hadn't heard about him untill earlier this week when I saw someone mention his name while gushing about his performance in another show and I completly understand why they're a fan of him now.
Saw this last night, it was hysterical. So many laughs
1:44
1:58
Just marking for myself when I need a good laugh 🤣
I saw this cast in San Francisco and it's incredible how you can see even his facial expressions from so far away. I know that's a part of being an actor but he translates so well even just between a TV set and a stage
he is *so* into character. I love it.
2:19 " Oh, oh, OH I HATE SHAVING!"
Yo, they did so damn good. Even off the big stage they fully act. I love this so much
I have to take a Shakespeare class this fall I just know this will be my anthem
2:45 Idk what that face is, but it's the best thing I've ever seen
Nigel's voice sounds nice but he kinda overdoes the vibrato
whosawhale I’m knew to theater and I’m really trying so what does that mean and do you mind telling me where you can tell that if you don’t wnat to that’s fine but still 😅😅
[some funny and unique name] Vibrato is that wobbly thing singers do with their voices. It’s usually done a little bit and you can hear it a lot of the time on the end of long notes. But sometimes it’s overused and every note comes out sounding super wobbly and shaky (e.g. 0:48). Hope that made sense!
Just Peachy okay thank you so much like I said I’m new to all of it so I’m trying to get a handle onto it as soon as possible. My parents never let us get into any of the arts so I’m like diving head first now taht I can😂😂😂
[some funny and unique name] hi ik I’m late but I think you should know that some people have a natural vibrato, which means that their voice sounds like Nigels does normally; it works in some contexts like opera but not all and is very subjective to if the listener enjoys it. I’m happy you recently joined the marvelous world of theatre and hope I could be of some assistance!
I really do not like it when people overdo vibratos, but I think it fits for this character actually for some reason :)
I love this man!!!
I have a degree in theatre and this was me in Shakespeare classes
Awesome performance
saw it last Friday and it was the best and now its my favorite.
Me too
Don't shoot me but I prefer Rob's rendition of the song to Brian's...
Same
100%
i think we all do
I feel he gets more into the character then Brian
I agree 100%
I love the touring cast so much more than the original cast.
Especially Nick and Nigel's parts.
They portray the characters emotions so well and they look so much more the part of the characters.
My favorite cast and musical of all time
I kinda want Thomas sanders or jon conzart to play nick bottom for some reason.
Bellatrix Lestrange Thomas would be such a good Nick omg
Rose Lavino yes! And Jon is his brother!
John as Nick Bottom and Thomas as William Shakespeare
@@CherryBlossom3x3 YES HELL YES!!!
oh yes i think Thomas would be amazing as Nick
I saw this cast on tour and they are all ANGELS!
"I think by now we sort of know you hate shakespeare" definitely my favourite part haha
I love this! The touring cast is my absolute favorite!
This my exact feelings of the Paul people.
N.M.S 193 god i hate jake paul
God, I hate logan!
I had no idea who you were talking about.
-i thought you were talking about the apostle Paul-
i’m dumb.
@@mackiemae2002 I'm learing about him right now and I love you.
I remember watching this video right when it came out bc it was on my recommended list.
now I deeply regret not seeing it live after now acknowledging the national anthem, it’s hard to be a bard
1:58 on is the best part. Especially 2:07 .
I like Rob more as this role more than Brian. He just fits so much better.
Lani Alvarado yes omg he’s so much better for it
He plays an excellent Nick Bottom! He got really into character. I think I especially enjoyed him losing it at the end 😆
This song is actually such a banger
Not to mention man that bass line is so much fun to play tbh I’m so happy I get to play bass for it for school :)
I got to see this cast when it came to my city and the OBC on broadway and they were both so amazing. It's a great show.
“I think by now we know you hate Shakespeare”
*S M A K E S H P H E R E*
It makes me sick how much I love Musical Theatre
Greatest most chaotic musical theater performance of all time
I like how Rob is so into his character that when they ask him he is about to say I hate Shakespeare again
My wife and I saw this in New York and we’re just blown away. It was so fun witty and smart and just enjoyed it so much
This is a marvellous performance! Like, I can watch this for free????!?!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
I love this play so much.
This is my comfort video
i kinda love this characterization of nick bottom. so funny!!!
He put his whole robussy into that
LMAO💀
I just saw Something Rotten on tour 2 weeks ago and I crack up every time Rob says "the bard" because of the pause he always does beforehand.
Adam ranting with other ghosts that didn't read the Handbook because it wasn't Shakespeare
I actually sent this song to my LA teacher because we were going over Shakespeare plays 😂
I'm just thinking of when Rob's daughter is growing up, and for the first time sees videos of her dad like this and being like
*That's YOU daddy! You're so funny! Who's shakespeare?*
And they're all "ooh" and he's all "stop" and they're all "yay" and I'm all "bloogh" *AND IM REALLY GETTING SICK OF IT*
Never realized Rob was Nick when I saw a bootleg but I love Rob now and watching it now, he's so good as Nick I love it
I love how Rob is shorter than everyone else even though his character is probably older so its just a kid throwing a tantrum
Nigel's gay for Shakespeare. Thank you for your time. ;)
Reagan Newbury but what about porsha-
What about Porsha's Father?
Reagan Newbury I AGREE
anna roelofs. hECK PORSHA
Nigel loves Porsha. I ship him and Porsha to DEATH. But he was 10000% gay for Shakesqueer.
*Intense stare:*
*_YoU ShOuLd HaTe ShAkEsPeArE_*
i love everything about this!!!!!!!!!!!!
I assure you this is how many students feel while reading Shakespeare lol
I love this musical
DANG NIEGEL HIS VOICE IS SO GOOD
When you realize the character nick bottom actually originated with Shakespeare in his play a midsummer nights dream
My highschool is performing this play currently, going this Sunday to watch. Can’t wait
This is my new favorite thing ever! It’s absolutely amazing!
Imagine if he sealed himself in some sort of magic time capsule and re-emerges only to find people still worship Shakespeare
i would love that amount of energy...
I LOVE THIS ACTOR
ive seen it in one week and both times the show was so funny and amazing
I have seen three of the productions and Rob is my favorite Nick.
They were AMAZING last weekend! Something Rotten was fucking fantastic and the acting and singing was phenomenal and hilarious. (It's kind of cool to see them up close though since I was on the balcony XD) Regardless, they projected those movements and animated spirit so well that it didn't even matter where I sat.
I love Rob's Nick sm but something about that Nigel is off. I can't tell what it is.
aaronisgayTM it’s cuz the original Nigel has a very soft, and original voice no one can compare😂
He’s using too much vibrato that it seems cocky for a little nervous twit
he’s missing the characteristic dorkiness that makes nigel so distinct and lovable
I love the descent into feral goblin energy
I can watch this for hours
1:45
and that's another thing *I HATE ABOUT SHAKESPEARE*
The fact that they progressively appear more and more afraid as it goes on 😂
i fucking love rob omg
