Nonloper _potato I totally haven’t burst out singing this in my English class when we were doing Macbeth... my teacher almost cried cause I was doing the different voices and stuff 😂😂
slytheringirl1 I don’t know, I feel Brian d’Arcy played him a bit more seriously, and it made it more funny when he had moments like this. But Rob McClure still does a great portrayal of Nick Bottom.
I like both Rob and Brian's interpretations of Nick Bottom. I'm excited to see the 2018-19 touring production and see what Matthew Janisse brings to the role!
Holy crap. I went to see _Something Rotten!_ at the INB Performing Arts Center in Spokane, Washington. It was the best musical I have ever seen in my life. I loved it so much, and I got to meet 2 of the actors in the show! I met the Minstrel, who was SO nice, and he even asked me how I was doing! It was SO amazing, and I met the man who plays Nick Bottom, just for a quick second. I met him by accidentally almost running into him, actually. The guy singing this song... I MET him... It's so crazy to think that. Wow.
Rob McClure is so sweet! I met him when I saw the show at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, Maryland. I hope to meet him again when I see the show for a 2nd time in Washington D.C. It's such a great show.
I can feel this on a spiritual level. My teacher gives out sonnets and excerpts from Shakespeare and we have to answer questions on like what he was meaning when he said this, or what feeling did he portray when he said that, and we do them like every month or so, and I just cannot with those things
Yeah, sadly, school drains the life out of it by over analyzing it to death. Shakespeare wrote for the common folk and he wanted to keep working, so there's a lot of tawdry jokes and innuendos thrown in, so no one would be hit by thrown food. A lot of the language he created was periodic slang that was used within that working community. How a bunch of old people got together and decided it would be great to study the works like it was an ancient language key that could unlock the answers to the universe is beyond me. Not to undervalue his writing, mind you.
The time I saw Something Rotten, I couldn’t hate Shakespeare, because he was played by Adam Pascal ( OBC Roger from Rent ). I absolutely love Rob’s performance in this!! He’s so animated, I can really feel his pain😂
I saw this cast in San Francisco and it's incredible how you can see even his facial expressions from so far away. I know that's a part of being an actor but he translates so well even just between a TV set and a stage
I clicked on this because I was just watching random musical videos in my recommended videos, but holy shit do I love Rob McClure as Nick Bottom. I hadn't heard about him untill earlier this week when I saw someone mention his name while gushing about his performance in another show and I completly understand why they're a fan of him now.
I love the touring cast so much more than the original cast. Especially Nick and Nigel's parts. They portray the characters emotions so well and they look so much more the part of the characters.
I remember watching this video right when it came out bc it was on my recommended list. now I deeply regret not seeing it live after now acknowledging the national anthem, it’s hard to be a bard
whosawhale I’m knew to theater and I’m really trying so what does that mean and do you mind telling me where you can tell that if you don’t wnat to that’s fine but still 😅😅
[some funny and unique name] Vibrato is that wobbly thing singers do with their voices. It’s usually done a little bit and you can hear it a lot of the time on the end of long notes. But sometimes it’s overused and every note comes out sounding super wobbly and shaky (e.g. 0:48). Hope that made sense!
Just Peachy okay thank you so much like I said I’m new to all of it so I’m trying to get a handle onto it as soon as possible. My parents never let us get into any of the arts so I’m like diving head first now taht I can😂😂😂
[some funny and unique name] hi ik I’m late but I think you should know that some people have a natural vibrato, which means that their voice sounds like Nigels does normally; it works in some contexts like opera but not all and is very subjective to if the listener enjoys it. I’m happy you recently joined the marvelous world of theatre and hope I could be of some assistance!
They were AMAZING last weekend! Something Rotten was fucking fantastic and the acting and singing was phenomenal and hilarious. (It's kind of cool to see them up close though since I was on the balcony XD) Regardless, they projected those movements and animated spirit so well that it didn't even matter where I sat.
I'm just thinking of when Rob's daughter is growing up, and for the first time sees videos of her dad like this and being like *That's YOU daddy! You're so funny! Who's shakespeare?*
This was the cast I saw on Broadway. I actually got to meet Josh and Rob since I was there with my theatre group. I wish I knew what I know now. I would have been so much more appreciative.
He got so into his character
Perfectly in character! And he nailed it
every video of him i’ve seen has been so consistent with character!
yeah but imagine this but its some random kid wearing headphones in a classroom
Nonloper _potato I totally haven’t burst out singing this in my English class when we were doing Macbeth...
my teacher almost cried cause I was doing the different voices and stuff 😂😂
Ella TRUE! we were talking about the renaissance and we reached shakespeare with hamlet and i silently hummed this the entire 1 hour
Conspiracy confirmed: Rob is a living cartoon character.
Boxless Thinking you’re not even wrong !!!! Chaplin proves it !!
Boxless Thinking that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking the entire time!
Well hes in beetlejhice as Adam maitland, so now he's a dead cartoon character
Reminds me of the Grinch, lol

i didn’t even know that rob was in this, which makes it even better lmao

Seriously love the way they managed to make a song where the lead singer is at time actually incoherent with rage and yet still sings.

“I hate baseball, I really do.”

I don’t know why but the height difference between Rob and the rest of the cast in this song is just making this so much better 😅😅

My dad hates Shakespeare too
I'm jealous! I love Shakespeare and we spend like 0 time on his stuff
TheDamianvain17 I agree, we did Romeo and Juliet recently and I love the play but the work on it almost made me hate it
Shakespeare is really meant to be watched. If you read it without knowing / liking the play then it just destroys all enjoyment
god this guy is such a good theater actor, he gets so in his role and fully goes for it, i love it!
2:30 just the shock on the ensemble men's faces when he says "the poster child for why no one should ever procreate"
Every detail about this performance is just so right. His acting, the ensemble reacting to him, the singing... I'll never get over it haha
