Activists say their alleged humanitarian goal is a thin veil to further privatize the city and make huge profits.

I think are contemplating the world re order in next 10 years and those 2 Islands would be great tropical residential compounds for the selected few... and their servants and security force... ( Guantanamo bay is already waiting for anyone trying to storm the island) that is why help for Puerto Rico is obstructed and sanctions continue on Cuba

The USA is a market, not a country. No other country on Earth just divests in a whole city or region, leaving it to the rats and heroin dealers. Cities are made of people, who have lives- but in the USA it made more 'financial sense' to undo 150 years of industrialization to benefit 100 banking families.

I've described the US as a 'corporate dictatorship' for the last 25 years, as the Big Mob (Banking, Business, Pharma, Media, War & Tech) & their lackey associates run everything and governments are bought & controlled like the parasites they are and only exist to sign contracts and sell war to people with their smiley presidents and doddery old fools who neglect to tell you they're murdering people in faraway land as they speak. They've blindsided too many into the belief that what they live under is still a democracy, but it's far from it. Sadly, ~70% of people believe lies & BS via the controlled media and ~30% are sick of the downward spiralling and corporate stench!

Simple questions like what the population of the Soviet Union was during this time period so that you can sense check the realism of the numbers thrown at catatonic westerners by the likes of Conquest and Solzhenitsyn, are never asked. Because if you had the barest intellectual acuity you would simply reference the population statistics for the Soviet Union to determine whether or not you have been taken for a fool and a very big one at that.
Of course it is too much to ask whether you reviewed the researches of even western researchers who accessed Soviet archives which where thrown open by Gorbachev under his glasnost and perestroika policies.
