- A couple of weeks ago at the end of a video where I looked at St Johns in Glastonbury I said that I would find somebody to show me around all of the wonderful new renovations.
Well the day that video came out I was very excited when David MacGeoch the vicar reached out offering to show me around.
So I grabbed the opportunity and this is the video we made. I hope you enjoy looking around the stunning church. The renovations to my mind are a triumph in that they echo the past while at the same time ensuring the building will continue to be the heart of our thriving community for years to come.

Major Edward Bannister Barker..... Died of a brain aneurysm on the field of battle.
His father was a Coachman, later a bank manager.
Not much to be found on his life.
Thank you very much Vicar for the tour, it was very interesting and I enjoyed all the history and information very much.
Thanks Jeff
That was really fabulous Gabriel! I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. What a lovely vicar St Johns has.
Thaks Nigel. St. Benedicts is next
Really interesting tour of the church Gabriel and and a good insight into the history the vicar was very knowledgable and it was very obvious he has done his research We should know a great deal more when the recent archaeological reports are concluded and made available 🙏☸️🕉☮️
Yes I am hoping to make a video when that happens
That was so interesting! Looking forward to a tower tour!
Me too. It will be towrds the end of november
Great Vid Gabriel. My Mum and late Dad have been pretty involved with St John's since we came to Glastonbury, The unusual cross on the north alter was created by my dad, David Gowland. Thanks for sharing this
Thank you Andrew. A pleasure to meet you. If I am completely honest my two favourite features in St. John's are the lack of pews and your Dad's cross. It has a real presence. Thank you
Great video. Love this church always visit it when we are in the town. Still miss the phews though.
Thanks Peter
I would have loved some of those discarded pew seats. We’ve already repurposed one and I could have used them to do the rest of the treads on my staircase. However, great vid as usual 👍🏻
Thanks Pat
Glory of those who died in the war.... is that glorification appropriate in the 21st century?
