I like the puffy idea, kind of like Trupunto. If I spelled that right. I did that on a quilt top with Dori fabric. I cut out the fish & put batting under it & then appliquéd it. Your work is great!
I just thought I would pop on here and mention how much I miss your videos. I am in the same boat with the empty nester thing and really have to dig up stuff to journal about but thanks to your videos and creative ideas I have made some really fun books. I have also started slow stitching which I am LOVING!!!! Thank heaven for Canton trade days and my fabric lady out there where I keep getting quilt pieces and other fabric, it's my new favorite project. Hope all is well with you!
This is such a fun way to preserve treasured pieces of vintage fabric, hankies, tablecloths, and ribbons. We're in the process of relocating to TX from CA and all of my fabrics and my sewing machine are in storage until our house is built. :-(
Wow!! These are so beautiful!! We can see just fine with the camera angle. This reminds me of a project I started about 4 years ago - I have about 40 pieces of 16 inch squares that have the two pieces of material and a piece of flannel in between as batting. On each square, I sewed vintage handkerchiefs by machine. And did some quilting on them. I intended on putting them together to make just a show quilt to not be used. Now that I have been doing lots of slow stitching, I think I will add yo-yos and bits and pieces of material and laces on each one. Wow! I’m excited to see what you do with yours. Thanks for sharing with us and inspiring us with your talent. Love and Blessings ❤️😊😘🤗💕
I can see it just fine. Thanks for posting you've been missed! Your project is lovely, so many possibilities of what you could do with it. and really enjoy what you talk about. I remember the upholstered walls. It really did give the bedroom a certain soft coziness and charm. Never used wool batting but now you got me wondering if maybe I should. Really enjoyed this, thanks again.
I just watched Rachel opening your piece. It is awesome so I thought I'd pop over and subscribe to your channel. The quilt you're working on is beautiful. I'm not much of a quilter, but I made a couple of baby quilts from sample fabric books that were gifted to me a few years ago, nothing as elaborate as yours but they turned out quite nice. My mother taught me to embroider when I was a young child. It's a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. Mostly she embroidered dish towels and pillow cases and just taught me the basics. I've learned lots from watching Rachel and look forward to learning more from you.
Can I just say that we all missed you a lot? These stitching pieces are awesome. You never cease to amaze me with your creativity, skill, and body of work.
Oh my gosh! I am not even done watching this and I have to comment. A while back I saw a video and it may have been Rachael's sister Sarah, or even Rachael who did a table cloth out of old table runners and hand stitched on it also. I think the word love was cut of of fabric and stitched on it. I absolutely loved that and this project reminds me of it. You are doing an amazing job and I can't wait to see how it evolves. If work ever slows down (I am a nurse) I hope to pick up a needle and thread and my old table runners, scrap pieces and embroidery thread and try my hand at it. Thank you for sharing! Also, I was married in 1993 too. It was a good year :)
I really liked the angle you had here. It was different and allowed to get a much bigger view of your projects. I am writing this in Nov 2022, and haven't seen any new videos from you for over a year. All I can say is I miss you sooooo much. I hope you are okay! I just sit and watch your old videos over and over. Hoping that someday I'll see a new video pop up. Again, I hope you are well and life is being good to you.
Just found you a month ago, I was late to the show. I have enjoyed all your video’s. I made a busy hands journal and stitched a journal cover. Waiting for your next video.
I like your friendship quilt better than the one i bought from jessica chorley. It doesn’t make me happy so i don’t work on it often enough. Yours is so much nicer! The camera angle is great, too!
Hello Melanie the Angle is good you can see all your work, love this idea, lm wanting to make something like this with my vintage fabric subscription from Lisa Mattock. Your looks really cute. Tfs Hugs Susanna xx 😄♥️🧵
Hi Melanie! I saw the piece you sent to Anne for the collaborative swap and was blown away, so of course I had to check out your channel! AWESOMENESS galore!! I also love making quilts and slow stitching and playing with paper. I *think* we may have been twins in a previous life because I just love you and all your stuff so much! (but not in a creepy stalker way lol). I've watched about half of your videos so far and plan to watch all of them! You are an inspiration to me and I'm getting out my paper supplies to do some projects a la Melanie! Thank you for putting yourself out there and sharing your creative talents!!
This looks like a successful test to me! You (and others) seem to be making 21st century versions of Victorian crazy quilts. They were not meant to be used either, just displayed. :-)
I'd love to make a crazy quilt one day, but I know I'd get bored with it and never finish it. Hopefully this is small enough that I can see it through to completion. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! I'm still working on the mini sewing room. I ended up painting all the furniture and walls and it's taking me longer than I anticipated. I'm kind of ready to be done with it so I can clean up my mess and move on, but I'll share it soon. Thanks for asking about it!
I'll add it to the video description, but here it is. The quilt in the thumbnail is awesome! foragebylisamattock.com.au/product/scrappy-mish-mash-decorative-quilts-sunday-18th-april-1200pm/
The angle is ok but may be better on the other side so your hand doesn’t cover your stitching work. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ I bought a wreck this journal after seeing your video.

The angle is great. I really like this idea. It’s calming to watch you stitch. It makes me want to get supplies and start one.

Yes, missed not seeing videos lately. You are very talented and inspiring to me. The video is fine, angle, lighting etc looks good
I just love it! It's so nice to see your latest project! I miss seeing your work! A month is too long to go, without some Melanie inspiration! 😉👍😁🥰❤
I totally agree x

This shows a great overview of the whole project.
You always inspire me whatever you do. Thank you. X Catherine
I just love what you are doing. Gives me so many ideas. I am new at sewing and hooked.

The angle is great. I love that I’m not the only one who uses every color imaginable when making a wall hanging. Looks great.
Right there with you... every color I can squeeze in! :-)
Yes, it's totally watchable! 😊 Lovely patchwork❣️
Hi Melanie, I want to thank you for the paper tip. I ordered the paper and printing my images comes out much more vibrant.
You are so welcome!
Oh, I'm so glad I could help! Happy printing!

Happy your back!! Love the stitched work!!! Did you end up doing the sewing miniature room? I would love to see it!
