I'm in Fort Worth on a contract job and found your channel scouting for things to do on the weekends. I'm DEFINITELY going to Tarzan for breakfast @ the Tarzan Grill and then get a picture of my Jeep next to the Tarzan Gin before heading to the Midland Army Air Field Museum!
To of been even better, the ten gallon hat on the head, and a six shooter hanging from the holster at the waist would of really set the atmosphere straight! Flipped onto u-tube this morning, and dozens of videos about a parody of Harry and Megan on South Park streaming all over the place. Should I open one of them to see what the heck is going on? "Hell no! Time to saddle up with the Wiseguy and head for Texas!" "A man has to have his priorities straight you know!" What you bring us by taking us along on your travels, beats the heck out of all the drama videos any day! Thank you for some "real" entertainment. And with the thermometer sitting right at that big "Zero" F, I do not believe old Harley and I are going to leave the garage today. So I will just travel along with you. Thanks again for the ride!
Haha thanks! I’m glad my video got the nod over the others. Although I do love a good South Park parody of celebrities 😂😂 Thanks again for the support!
I was born and raised in Odessa, and spent a good part of my early life around west Texas. Many a fishing trip along the Pecos near the Rio Grande/border area with my father. Thank you for the wonderful video and especially the canyon views overlooking the Rio Grande there at Eagles Nest, that really brought back some great memories!
another great video (as usual). I worked oil fields literally around the world, and in 1977 was working west texas in the exact area you are now visit. and after one job we made a special trip down to Langtry to see what was left of Judge Roy Bean. Hard to believe that was now 46 years ago. Your video brings back so many memories. Thank you.
Very good video. Tarzan got my attention because I lived about 10 miles South where my dad farmed. Knew a lot of people that lived around Tarzan and Lenorah and we all went to school at Grady back in the day. Back then Gardy was only 1st thru 8th grade. School was opened in about 1952 as a result of Tarzan and Lenorah and one other school consolidating. Hi to any others that might have gone to Grady in the 1950's and early 1960's.
So interesting to see! Amazing to see the land and its beauty, as well as the historic towns! Love learning their stories! Love the Tarzan shirt! Great work on this one!!
Your travels are always interesting... I'm amused that in all the towns you visit regardless how remote and deserted there is always the ubiquitous post office!
As you can see it was late when I was in Langtry, so by the time I was back on the road it was dark. I’m pretty sure I drove across the Pecos River High Bridge but it was tough to see how impressive it was. I hope to go back to the area again in the future!
Good video however, when you were in Langtry the last seen at the canyon. That is not where the Pecos and Rio Grand meet. That is pump canyon. When the railroad come through there they pumped water out of that canyon for the train. My grandparents owned a cafe there. Spent many summers there. Lover fishing the river for yellow cats. The old cafe is now a home that is occupied by a very nice couple there. Good times as a kid.
I have lived in Minnesota, SD, Nevada, Arizona, California, and now the Philippines. If/when I move back West Texas might be where I would go. Philippines is a great place to visit or retire to. Thanks for the tour! Subbed.
Did you visit T&J?? ( Tarzan & Jane)? Pedwell drag strip is very popular. The racers of 905 & other race shows often race there.i hope you got to visit Balmorhea state park.
Yes I did! I saw the drag strip with the drone. Looked cool! I didn’t go to Balmorghea, I was kind of rushing to make it to another ghost town before dark!
Penwell! I've actually worked this area before. If you follow the rail tracks you'll find a mass grave site for a group of Chinese workers who died in an explosion. The race track is also the only one in the nation of that specific size / type. I'm surprised you got those shots with your drone, the owner of the yellow house does NOT like people! I strongly encourage you to visit Juno, Texas in Val Verde County
I think the name, Langtry might have had something to do Lily Langtry, the famous British actress of the time. There was a 1940 William Wyler movie named "The Westerner", starring Gary Cooper as Cole Harden and Walter Brennan as Judge Roy Bean. Cole Harden is a drifter accused of stealing a horse belonging to Chickenfoot, Bean's main sidekick. Harden's conviction by a jury composed of Bean's acolytes seems certain, and the undertaker waits eagerly for the verdict and hanging. Bean dismisses Harden's contention that he had bought the horse legally from another man. Noticing the judge's obsession with the English actress Lily Langtry, Harden claims to have known her intimately. He cons the judge into delaying the death sentence until Harden can send for a lock of the Langtry's hair, which he claims to have in El Paso. The delay is long enough for the real horse thief to appear and be killed. The actress Lillian Hellman plays an uncredited role as Langtry in the film. Search for the movie on Wikipedia to see more about it. You can see the movie free on UA-cam movies.
That’s true!!! this guy does not do his research. He even said the pecos gos in the Rio Grand there to🤔 a good you tuber would be there when the Roy bean center was open to get fasts before reporting false information
Love to go to Texas!! I work for company that supplies parts for air tractor airplanes from Onley TX Never seen it but I think you should check it out for me
While you're telling us all about Penwell, I am not hearing a thing because I am too busy looking down the road for any cars because YOU ARE STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!! Was I a helicopter mom, yes, yes I was. Even before I ever became a mom. Once a helicopter mom, always a helicopter mom. In fact I think I was born a helicopter mom. I guess the uploaded video and your current videos prove that you survived.
You not right about name and location of langtree it was named by roy bean after Lillie Langtry from Jersey a singer he went and seen and fell in love with and where the Pecos and Rio grande merge is after the high bridge in Comstock not Langtry
How could you fail to mention that it was Judge Roy Bean who was responsible for the name of the town.He was infatuated with the British actress Lilly Langtry. That's where the name came from. If you had seen the movie you would know that.
A decent video, but could have been better. IMHO, driving around the towns and narrating with more information and seeing more of each town would be better than having the poster just stand there talking for most of the video. Good videos focus more on the subject and less on the guy filming it.
If you like this video, you might like to check out my other videos from Texas! ua-cam.com/play/PL4jqwLUrhjNSpzEvXMoov0pSxEGvBwKR6.html
Odessa Texas in the house✌️
Tank with pipe on the top is the gun barrel. It takes Salt water from crude oil. Shorter tanks are for storage.
Judge Bean was a Bmf'r he wasn't just the judge he was a lot of other things as well
Thanks for the little tour🐝🌻

I love the way you fade the color in from black and white at the beginning. Very atmospheric. Also, your choice and taste in music is impeccable.
Thank you! My “artistic” idea there is to connect the past with the present.

Great series! Thanks for bringing these small town stories to a larger audience
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Loving the outtakes and there is no way I'd be that close to the edge of those rivers! LOL TFS
Haha thank you!
Mr Rhodes owned most of penwell
I worked in those oil wells in the eighties
What an area lots of more history there
Thanks for the effort 😊
I know Penwell. I believe it's famous for its racing.
I hope while you were in the Langtry area you checked out the Pecos River railroad bridge. It’s quite an engineering marvel. Love these videos.

Penwell Race track would have been a great visit for u!!
I saw it but I couldn't get over to it that day unfortunately.
Awesome view at the end. I thought of the Native Americans standing on the cliff looking out over the scene.
Nice image 😊

She was a singer from Jersey who Bean seen on the only trip out of Texas he ever took
Do the cliffs act as a wall between Mexico and the U.S. here? Or have they not built the wall this far?
Yes I believe they do!
Was anything left of the "courthouse" of Roy Bean?
I didn’t see anything of the original courthouse there. In pictures it looked pretty ramshackle.
theres a replica in comstock down the road lol
many towns in western oklahoma like these
Yep I’ve done several videos recently in that area too
Looking at the old oil field equipment do you know witch one is the gun barrel and witch one is the storage battery?
I have no idea. Unfortunately I’m not that well versed in oil equipment. Maybe someone else reading the comments can help!
