I posted something about getting to know Katatonia better through your reactions after My Twin, since I only knew that song from before and never really got into their other songs. Well, I'm glad I watched this one. The song took me places right from the start. And yeah, you got me. I totally thought you were gonna say My Twin until it took you that long to figure out the name.
Their last album "Sky void of stars" is their best IMO. To focus on the singing, I recommend "The future of speech", "Departer" and "Lacquer" but on its covid live version
Liberation, is by far my favorite Katatonia track. That song is more about the musicianship, especially the soft beautiful guitar playing . My cat loves "Ecstasy of Gold" and every Type O tune. Best weekend wishes from Stockholm, Sweden! ❤
Songs from this Album to react to: -Night Subscriber -Residual -Dead Letters (you can hear Tool influence on this one) Demon vocals: -Insilenced Enshrined -Nothern Silence -Brave (Live from Last Fair Deal Gone Night) I wouldve suggested Brave or Murder (from Studio album 'Brave Murder Day') but Michael Akerfelt did the vocals not Jonas
Hey, English is not that hard to learn, I'd say it's on the easier side. I vigorously started learning on my own when I was a teenager who loved playing jRPGs on my PlayStation, with a massive vocabulary next to me :) Those were the days. Anyway, Katatonia is one of my favorite bands of all time, it's always a pleasure to see people experience this magnificent music. I would also love to see your reaction to "The Longest Year", "Departer" and/or "Forsaker", if you haven't listened to any of them yet. Lethean is still my absolute favorite though, glad you already covered it and liked it! This band deserves way more recognition. I stumble across different reactors every now and then, they always tend to listen to more mainstream music that everyone already knows, I wish more people knew about the wonderful Katatonia 🖤🖤
Oh, and I also recommend checking out Iress. They sound like Katatonia but with gorgeous female vocals. I hope they get more attention. Songs like "The Remains" (my favorite one) or "Falling", or "In Reverse", I think you will like them a lot 🖤
Also, aside from his death vocals, his clean vocal ability progressed over time. But there are interesting aspects to his earlier styles of clean vocals. Brave Murder Day has death vocals by Mikael of Opeth. But Jonas occasionally does clean vocals for the first time on that album. You should also look into their stuff from Discouraged Ones and Tonights Decision.
Lol, animals totally do have musical preferences. One of my cats likes Pearl Jam and The Cure, my other cat likes Soulfly and New Order, and my mum's old cat liked Jimi Hendrix and Duran Duran 😆
I think either 'In Silence Enshrined' or 'Without God' would be a good choice if you want to hear something from Katatonia's death metal era with Jonas. edit: Outside of Katatonia, Evergrey's video for the song 'Cold Dreams' features Jonas on guest vocals where he does a mix of clean and death metal vocals would be a great choice.
For context, The Great Cold Distance was the first Katatonia album I heard, and I loved it. But this album is an absolute masterpiece. It took me a good 5 listens before I started to enjoy it and it makes me wonder how many albums over the years I would've enjoyed more if I just gave them an extra spin or two. This track was the first song to hit me, but I think track 1, takeover?, was my ultimate favourite.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Evergrey "Where August Mourns" is a really good song and Tom Englund a fantastic singer. Evergrey is another great Swedish band
I love this song, but by Kat standards, this whole album is a bit mid. I would recommend catching up with them with anything from their latest LP
