Right off the giddy up, Check out the rusty washers on the fifth wheel hitch. I can only imagine what the rest we can't see. They look pretty at first glance but junk to the anyone that's had a rv. I wonder what else we can't see that will pop out afterwards .
We live in a 2019 version of this trailer. I like some of the upgrades they’ve done to it! We have the light wood color cabinets. Our unit has the pull out fire place but had to fix it in place as the glides broke and the dealer couldn’t fix them easily. I really love the new battery compartment! Ours is only big enough for two 6 volt batteries. And that full body paint scheme is gorgeous!
Interesting that at even 250k you still have rust on the pin box, rust in the wheels, detaching weather stripping, rust on frame members in storage bays, cabinet doors that bang. It seems like they chose the right materials but completely dropped the ball on fit and finish. I’m honestly surprised you overlooked all that. No excuses at this price point. Makes me look elsewhere besides drv
Amen to all what you said! The rust around the wheels is unbelievable. Totally ridiculous....yet, people will still buy the crap! Don't understand. No back up camera at $250,000 (and other options...just can't believe this) At the end of the day....they are basically all built the same. As he mentioned, the only real difference is the materials on the inside. No thank you for me.
I'm glad that other people noticed the same thing that I had for the price of what you pay for you would think it would be a lot better quality amazing that most people that buy these things wouldn't even notice that the newer products they build the worst they seem to get product control is terrible
Rust & no power real for 50 amp cord. Outside the bay leveling control pad. No macerator toilet. Carpet. Cloth theater seating. I could go on and I know I'm picking here but, for $250k MSRP? No thanks.
Funny for 250k there aren’t slide awnings. My 2021 forest river Riverstone is nicer than that DRV and my Riverstone is only 90k. It seems no rv manufacturer can figure out how to put 250k worth of proper equipment and construction into an RV but they always manage to get the price 10x more than the RV is worth.
Hey Josh. I don’t subscribe to anybody’s channel unless I really like um. You are my guy so I just subscribed. Thank you for all the info, you’re the best. A fan, Dave🤙
💥💥💥$250k and no washer/dryer, ceiling fan or soft close toilet seat?!? And of course, they put on the absolute minimum axle's they could get away with. Love the rust underside. Other than that, nice rig
Thanks JD for showing the RV's and please continue. It's interesting to see the decline in quality of "high-end" 5th wheels over the last few years. (And the unreal price increases). If 250K MSRP is the price of a stripped down model, I can only imagine the price of a heavily optioned Fullhouse. We've owned a DRV now for 7 years and love ours, but I definitely would not buy a new one now.
@@rvorbust6260 standard on most FullHouse models is partial body paint which is what we have. No decals so it is better than most less expensive RV brands out there.
Man there sure is a lot of rust on it. I mean its a super nice trailer. But at a quarter mill. I would like to see a new model rust free. Good video. Nice trailer. I like the plumbing manifolds. I think that was done well
Question why do most manufacturers put the cable & satellite TV connections in the wet bay? Almost every one. Common sense says that it should be in the electric bay. Thoughts?
Why all the rust on the wheels, hubs, lug nuts, and slide mechanics? Sat in or driven through some salt water for a bit before being moved to this dealership?
I saw this model last year. We're shopping Luxe, DRV, SpaceCraft and New Horizons. DRV is off the list. There are far too many misses/cost savings on an RV at this price. Did you look under the bed? You won't like what you find, smurf tube with power in it (which isn't even legal in a house) just sitting on the floor. No OneControl or ASA. No IS (suspension). No power cord reel. Take a look @12:18 in the video, that's a wiring mess, many lower end brands do it much, much better. I know DRV frames are some of the best (perhaps the best) in the industry. I suspect that's true, but, in all my years of RVing, I've never even heard of a "broke the frame" issue on any mid range or higher RV. Sure, the DRV is better, but it's better in an area that's not usually a problem. I've heard a LOT of "broke my spring hangers", "had the rewire because it wasn't secured and rubbed through" and many other issues that DRV doesn't address. Also, one other "come on" thing. I think you can see it in one your shots, but the drawers are put together with butt joints, not dovetails... Seriously, at this price point?! My Grand Design has dovetailed drawers. When you're spending 2-3X what a mid tier brand (like Grand Design, Raptor, etc) costs, everything has to be better. It should be all improvements from the lower end model, not some things better. DRV just isn't there, if it was the same price as a GD, sure, I'd consider it, there are some things I like a lot. But not at the price they are asking.
Not a fan of the bold colors, the little cubby that will be awkward to use and the washer dryer with a toilet right in front of it. I would have put the washer dryer in the back.
The frame will get rusty in a few years. Not much said about the tank capacities. What size truck? 5500 Dodge or F550? I would not base a decision on this limited information. However, I do like the unit.
At 250k why not just use one solid beam instead of frankensteining a beam together. Would seem cheaper since you would not have to pay someone to weld it all together.
I can’t believe with the price of this RV and all the nice finishes they don’t put all around camera system. They failed that for me along with a small bathroom. My 34’ GD Reflection has a bigger bathroom. I do understand it being a toy hauler and bathroom are usually smaller but not a fan !!!⚓️🇺🇸
Not a fan of tiny outhouse bathrooms. Forest River Riverstone 2023 Signature 41RL has standard features, where most are options w/ large bathroom but only 1. There are security cameras all around the vehicle.
For such an expensive unit, the bathroom is far less than impressive. One piece plastic shower? You’d think they would have installed a nice tile shower! Very odd they would do this. I’m not a fan of floor vents at all. You’d expect by now the manufacturers would come up with a way to put them in the ceiling like they do with A/C vents, or combine the vents for A/C and heat, like regular homes. The carpet under the dinette was a little surprising, but that’s never really bothered me. Other than the bathroom (and vents) it’s a nice toy hauler.
Nice unit but for price it’s listed I’m missing few thinks like more seating area in living room ,half bath in garage will be plus as well and carpet in the slide🙄….on other hand outside beautiful paint job but again no rear prep for camera and also whole back area looking plain with cheap lighting like there just went short of money…
Absolutely beautiful 5th wheel however the price is almost insulting. Ridiculously overpriced or whatever you wanna call it, but either way…this is WAY out there with the price and there’s no way I would pay that amount 🤦♂️
Interesting, I thought this would have the independent suspension? What are manufacturers doing to prevent corrosion? Automotive industry has extensive processes yet the rv industry just rattle cans the frame and sends it. I’d buy this for $125k if the dealer throws in a case of rustoleum.
Is that cost real? I’m pondering all the places I could fly to if I had 250k to spend. She’s a beauty for sure but not too sure I’d lug that beast around.
The sides of the slides are painted, just not matching. And yes, full body paint is only the outside walls. Some do include slide wall sides but most don't.
Very very nice but at that price point I would expect the side of the slides to be painted to match and no power cord real is ridiculous. Cheaping out on washers that rust on the pin box does not inspire quality you would expect.
Hey JD love the videos man! Been subbed for about a year now! Was wondering if you can do a “Diesel Truck 101” video for first timers such as myself. I tried to see if you had one already but couldn’t find one.
Beautiful unit, but the garage is a bit lacking in size. 12' minimum for that much. Also folks mentioned the rust on the pin box, frame and leaf springs. I'd make them drop 50k for that alone. That's what happens when you purchase RV's in the midwest though. That's why you buy RVs in CA/AZ.
It ain’t the materials or the fit and finish… it’s the stupidity of the people who pay that price. There is not one thing about that trailer that is $250k impressive. $150k maybe, but not even close to being worth $250k Oh and those ain’t hardwoods either… that’s pine, regular ass pine.
That’s a DRV, used to be called “Double Tree” I’ve been following ? This brand since the mid 90’s and they have always been a combination of some of unique and amazing engineering, materials, fit/finish and… missing some industry norms… in my observation.
This might sound weak but it’s been bothering me for some time lately. Turn on the lights and open some of the blinds. Many of your RV review competition does take the time and it is worth it. The review is worthless if we can’t see what you are showing. Maybe open the rear ramp on a toy hauler. I understand these things take time but if we can’t see it, it might as well be a review done while you’re driving down the road with your dash cam showing the traffic.
The paint on that thing is too nice! I couldn't have paint like this, I'd have to put it in a bubble and never use it. Quarter mil is wayyy to much for this though, even with the paint. That thing went through a lot of salt somewhere in it's travels. The rust on this unit is unbelievable!
Man Oh man. .. A whole lotta marketing going on for $250,000. .. Engineering and content at the tier-one level are required at the $250K ask level. .. The wiring looms or lack of them, are sloppy. .. Cheezy wire connector termination, etc..
At this price point, there should be valances on the sides of the windows so that no light or visibility comes through. Garage is kinda short, but not bad. Cabinets are trash even if they are hardwood. The design is sloppy like you said. For the size i would have expected to see a half bath in the garage. Honestly i just saw a midbunk with loft that honestly takes care of all the stuff that i would use the garage for other than toy hauling which i would do very little of. Granted this has a genny and the other only had prep for one. But at well over 100k more for this, i couldnt imagine that. Bathroom is pretty nice. They need to do some more rust prevention. The slides need awning guards. No prep for backup cam? Wth? Propane capacity was surprising. Kinda an odd duck and not loving the price at all, even just as an msrp! Its kinda like i want to say, how bold of you to assume i would pay anywhere near that much for this. Being that its dual slide in the kitch, its seems even less worth it considering that it probably has very limited access with the slides in. If you arent hauling toys you could adapt the garage to work this way. But thats expensive and requires a lot of mods to basically create a second rv behind your already expensive rv.
Ok so I haven't watched the whole video yet but, right off the bat once the trailer is fully loaded and you are hitched to your truck you are over the 26,000 lbs weight which means that you will need a class A commercial drivers license (CDL) and a medical certificate from a DOT doctor. Not everyone can pull this size of a trailer.
DVR always makes a beautiful trailer but I gotta say for $250,000 wooow there must be a lot of other options I think for that kind of money you could also custom make one it’s just too much money nice tho
Great video JD. Unfortunately, that thing is waaaayyy over priced. My Momentum shower is nicer! No independent suspension? No power cord reel? Just seems cheaply made overall. Frame and cabinets may be nice and well made but the fit and finish seem subpar for that MSRP.
There are so many things I love about any DRV (other than price), but find their stock floor plans very uninspiring. In floor heat vents will always be a deal-breaker for me also, no way to prevent dirt from falling into the duct chase and nearly impossible to clean. I also don't really like the sliding door between the kitchen and garage, despite it opening up the interior views down the length of the RV, just looks like a disaster waiting to happen. There's a LOT of flex between the side walls of these big/long toy haulers while they're riding down the road, just a bit of twist between the sidewalls and bam! that sliding door is shattered. I have a close friend who was (retired now) an RV repair professional and he warned me about steering away from toy haulers, due to this issue of the wall between the garage and the living space. Most RVs do not have interior walls that span from side to side for this reason, especially towables. I have my heart set on a toy hauler anyways (I work from home and need an office space), but I look for models with a single small door from garage to living space, and want that door solid, left open and secured, for travel so as to allow the wall to flex without impediment during travel.
I'm with the others that pointed out all of the flaws with this camper. This company should be embarrassed they put out this poor of quality with their product. I don't think I would every consider buying this brand based on what I've seen in this video. I don't care if it adds a little more weight to the overall unit, if you're spending $250k, it better damn well have the entire undercarriage covered with a rust proof coating of some sort for the metal. And as others pointed out, stainless steel washers and bolts and so on. This is inexcusable at this price point. Obviously the finish work on the inside was also inexcusable but at least that's not exposed to the outside weather. Pretty much a fail on this company's part. If they were smart, they would come and get this camper and fix these issues and beg you to remove this video. This isn't going to help them sell any units and I would be surprised if this one ever gets sold. If it does, they will take a big loss I'm assuming.
Apparently $250 still cannot buy quality seems just above entry level 😮

Some folks don't prefer dishwashers
Do you think your big 450 could handle that DRV?
No. Payload capacity would need to be quite a bit higher.
I enjoy your videos, but please slow down when you are panning around a room.
My 98 newmar fifth wheel is just as nice
12:17 Wiring looks sloppy.
I like paint job
No paint on slides?
If it does, they will take a big loss I'm assuming.
just not that what i expected
Moderator. .. Ditch the use of the word "absolutely" ...
It drives me nuts to see the wiring look like a rat nest. Its allot easier to do it right the first time.
The 250K is not adding up, not even close. You have shown nicer for half that price.
