    The one thing no one wants to hear about makeup is that makeup will look like makeup, in person especially, no matter what you do. No matter how natural or lightweight or matching your skin it will look like you have makeup on. And that's ok!

      Yeah but even the influencers and makeup artist often won’t say that and pretend that their tips give a flawless and realistic skinlike finish. Just because it looks seamless and real in videos does not mean it looks like that in person. Also the reason why makeup feels like it’s sitting on the skin is because it is. Why do influencers pretend it melts into the skin when no makeup does? Iran literally a mask whether it’s a little or a lot

      @judiwhiteaker5893 Oh my skin is flawless. (Literally, I always get compliments on it lookin like porcelain). I agree Nikki is amazing and has great tips. I've learned a lot from her. But makeup is going to look like makeup, in person especially. Always. Because it is makeup. And that's ok! It's makeup. It can be gorgeous and fun and make you look better, but it's going to look like makeup. No matter the skill of the person
      (People shouldn't be pressured to shave their faces either just for makeup unless they absolutely want to. Good makeup and makeup artists can work with face hair.)

      @SavedByJesus-pi3yu Yeah the makeup community really should be more honest and open. It's ok! We all love makeup and it's ok if it looks like it! (Usually men can't tell tho 😂) Also filters and cameras and light help a lot online. It's never going to be that flawless in person. But that's ok. I still love makeup and how it makes me look.

    Another hard truth- your makeup just doesn’t look the same in 20s as it does in your late 30s/early 40s. There are signs of static fine lines around your eyes etc, loss of volume under your eyes…. Things look different and you do need to pick different products, and or adjust your technique. I’m struggling with that realisation at 37.

    I love my dermaglo face shaved. Has a light so you can really see what you’re doing, missing and all that. My skin is my favorite the next week after. It gets rid of so much dead skin as well and it’s not hard. Read the instructions and you’ll be fine. I never reuse a blade cause I have enough skin problems without reintroducing old bacteria to the mix. The refill blades come in a set of 5 or 6 and they come right to my door from Amazon.

    I feel that those of us who have larger pores due to having oily skin or are combo, most DEFINITELY do need a primer to blur our pores a bit and to help reduce the shine with wearing makeup. Primer enhances the longevity of my makeup and preps my skin making makeup application smoother. I do feel as a general observation, those who wear makeup, seem to either choose the wrong shade, not blending in their makeup as well as it could be, or stay in a rut, applying their makeup the same way they did 20+ years ago, which only ages them more. I used to do makeup on clients and most of my clients either didn’t wear makeup other than on special occasions, so to them, my application of makeup was so much to them, even though they loved how they looked. I do feel that the need for primer is very individual. I personally have oily in the t-zone area and dry in a few places on my face. Primer to blur my pores is essential for me.

    • @lisamiddleton2638
      @lisamiddleton2638 7 днів тому +5

      It won’t grow back thicker. Those hairs do not have the genetic makeup to grow in like that. The only reason new growth feels thicker, is because it was bluntly cut and there is more surface are compared to the full grown tapered villus hair. Villus hair will stay that way. I’m 51 and been doing it for over a year. Best ever to my makeup laying better. I have a few “darker” hairs on by lip.,, but those are that way from age and not from shaving. I have been plucking those few so they take longer to grow and perhaps will damage the follicle at some point that makes them not grow back, like my eyebrows in the 90’s! Jump in… the water is fine. Every dermatologist will tell you the same.

    Primers make me feel better. I have a religious skincare routine and I feel my skin is in a good place mostly. But I SWEAR ON MY LIFE i notice a difference in wear time and application when i use a primer vs when I don’t. Could it be anecdotal and I have gaslit myself into believing it? Probably. Will i die on this hill all the same? Yes.

    • @onestep2dee
      @onestep2dee 6 днів тому +1

      I totally agree. I have oily skin. If I don’t use a primer, my oils will break down the foundation no matter how well I’ve moisturized & prepped my skin. A primer helps with that tremendously. I didn’t use a primer yesterday and doused myself in several setting sprays. My makeup only lasted 4 hours before turning into a shiny greasy mess. Plus I live in Houston and that also adds to how long my foundation lasts. My favorite primer is the Patrick Star One Size blurring primer. It’s designed specifically for oily skin. I love it! Also, I use an eyeshadow primer for the same reason-because I have oily eyelids. I can’t use concealer and setting powder. That results in creases, fading, & mascara transfer big time for me. My favorite eyeshadow primer is from Ulta. It’s the matte version. It’s so reasonably priced with lots of product inside the tube. I’ve gone through several tubes.

    Love these tips and truths, but ...
    I'll tell my own hard truth about face shaving. I know full well that the hairs do NOT grown back thicker/heavier, HOWEVER, with the pale color of my peach fuzz, when it starts to grow back in, light reflects off the hairs and the pale stubble is SO OBVIOUS, each little straight out stub catching and reflecting light like peach fuzz never did. I'd rather have peach fuzz than light-reflecting stubble. And I will not do face-shaving daily, so that's that!
