This is when Country Music was real country music! Today’s isn’t Country any more. Gone. It was so good. No jumping around, and screaming nonsense. Very sad for America.
Very sad for the whole world! I'm from Scotland and I grew up with this kind of music. I still listen to it. What they call country today is utter crap. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong, but thankfully there's a LOT of really good country recorded over the years to enjoy. Hank Snow sang two songs the night Hank Williams was acting as MC. You can hear the other one here: ua-cam.com/video/GQmV0rrvaUs/v-deo.html
I grew up on Hank Williams, Hank Snow and Hal Lone Pine. My mom was from New Brunswick and used to listen and sing along with the radio. Her brother was a big fan too and had all sorts of records.
I grew up in Shetland, an archipelago in the far north of Scotland, and I listened to Hank Williams, Hank Snow, and all the rest. I still do, in fact! :-)
Yes, it's good to hear Hank Snow sing that song that's been a long-time favorite for so many people. It's even better to hear Hank Williams introduce him! I have a recording of Hank Snow singing "I Wonder Where You Are Tonight" also introduced by Hank Williams. I'll try and post that next. :-)
I have never heard of Hank Snow....but I do recall my grandmother saying we are related to the Snow name....looked it up and my grandmother was right...I'm thinking that's pretty cool.....😀❤
great to hear this these two men where inspirational in my own singing and song writing and this was one of the first songs i learned to play on guitar "The tartan cowboy"
On the same evening Hank Williams introduces Hank Snow again when Snow sings, I Wonder Where You Are Tonight. I'll maybe upload a video of that recording sometime, if I can find the time. :-)
This is about country as you can get. If it wasn't Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntire. Country music would be dead an gone. The stuff that is coming out of Nashville isn't worth much.
I think it is the entire Drifting Cowboys behind him and it sounds like Hank, Sr. on rhythm guitar. It's definitely not Snow's signature playing style.
@@keithkimmeysr953 No I don't hate Hank Snow ,,,just the opposite,,,I went to his Museum in Nova Scotia, years ago ,,,About his Pink Rhinestones, that takes courage,,,He earned every bit of his success,,,,,,love his music,,
I'm 82yrs raised on this the best ever

One of the most heart-rending songs Hank ever recorded. As a kid this used to reduce me to floods of tears.
It still does, Stephen. It still does.
Man what a find ! A REAL COUNTRY FANS DREAM!
Yeah, I'm 82 and this is the music I was raised on. Still love it. Hank Snow. Hank Williams. They contested for first place in the early days.

Hank Snow, born in the small Nova Scotia town of Brooklyn played in the equally small town of Palmerston Ontario in the 70s. A Canadian treasure.
Our 2 favorites Hank's ever. Thanks a lot for sharing! Bernie from New Brunswick Canada
Listening to history right here.
Thank you for this gift of hearing the golden voice of Hank Snow. It's amazing that He sounded the same throughout his career. Thank you again.
Superb! I had always thought this to be a Kathy Lynden song - this version takes it to a totally different level!
Check out the Wilburys' version with Tom Petty singing solo.
Thanks so much for this rarity. Hank was from Nova Scotia. Spent years at CKCW radio in Moncton New Brunswick.

Tony Sheridan with the Beatles as his back up group did a great cover version of this in the early 60s. They made a more bluesy rendition.

I think Don Helms was playing steel on that one.
Yes that most certainly is Don Helms
I think it is the entire Drifting Cowboys behind him and it sounds like Hank, Sr. on rhythm guitar. It's definitely not Snow's signature playing style.
Hank Snow was one helluva guitar player....some said 2nd only to Chet Atkins
