The old BYD Tang 86kWh battery used to have a delay of 3-4 mins to ramp up charging. From what I see this is no longer the case ? Have you also tested a 10-80% and does it really take 45mins ? I mean, the old one had quite a flat curve when you tested it. So if this one reaches 170kW and holds it for about 20 min, it should get at least at 65% already, then taper off and get to 80% in about half an hour, and that would be decent.
I think the most precise measurement of consumption would be based on the EV charger data (the same way that it was performed on ICE cars): you have a car charged to 100%, you drive some distance, charge it to 100% again and then use kWh that the charger will show you the second time - that will account all loses. But yeah that is not what you actually need when you want to get just the reange
Good comparison. I was also interested in these two. The BYD because it has the largest LFP currently on the market. Also at 800V supposedly charging faster than the old one. The next one is Sealion 7 at 91kWh from what I know. I currently have an Ioniq 5 so was hoping not to give up on the range and charge speed, but would love to switch to LFP if possible. I know the korean cars, had a Niro before I5, so I like the dash, menus, regen padels, V2L, android auto, fast 800V etc. But, yea, the seats are not the best. I'm a bit taller so it is even worse for me to sit so close to the steering wheel and have no seat extension. I got the relax pack on I5 with memory, ventilation, leg support etc. but still not that great seats. So yes, tough choice, I would love an EV9 with 110kWh LFP and BYD seats, charging in about 15min if possible :))
P.S. Another great candidate would be Zeekr 7x with the new short blade LFP at 75kWh 10-80% in 12min. But that one does not have AWD, only on the 100kWh NMC 10-80% in 15 min battery. Still, the 7x comes with great Air suspension, up to 23 cm ground clearance and real offroad capabilities, a proper SUV really, not just crossover pretender. (BYD Tang is worse here, that battery hanging just 15cm from the ground, looks real bad from behind.) Also, 7x has great seats with massage and powered seat extension. I know it does not take 7 people, that's one downside. But I would be really curious when you will be able to test it, I see that we have similar tastes in cars. ;)
@@norgepan The 7x is a bit smaller than EV9 but NOTHING like a model Y. Zeekr is a premium brand, similar to Q6 or Macan, with great quality, options, charge speeds, not tesla crap. Plus, the Zeekr 7x is a proper SUV, probably the only real electric SUV in EU. Check the desert and offroad tests on the Land Rover circuit and you will see. Most large EVs are just crossover pretenders, if you compare them to a RAV4 or even a cheap Duster, most of them are a joke climbing even a small hill. Even the EV9 and Tang, despite the size are almost useless if you take them off asphalt. Especially Tang with that 15cm? ground clearance. Same for EV3, model y, enyak and all the other mainstream EV hatchbacks or crossover pretenders with ground clearance of an MPV.
Very strange. I've got 2024 byd tang. There several ways to disable the annoying warnings, one way from the screen settings and the other way is to close the shutter window infront of tgat camera that is pointed toward your face (there is a phisical flap).
Question about charge speed ? I have an EV6 hatchback now, but would love to get a proper SUV EV. Also really love to have an LFP big battery and have great safety and long life. Still, the EV6 charges 10-80% in 18 mins. The old Tang used to charge at 115kW in about 40min. Could not find the charge curve for new Tang with 170 kW speed. Does it keep 170kW up to 70% at least ? That would mean 50% (about 54kWh) added in around 20 mins, similar to my EV6. Even if it slows down after, it would still be ok. So, can you give me some numbers ? Thank you.
@@Happy_Xiaoxia Thank you. Can you also make an OBD test like Bjorn Nyland did on Atto3 ? Does it have the same behaviour ? Ventilation starting at 40 degrees and rapid gating over 45 degrees, especially if you stay inside and keep the heat on ?
Kris, is it me, or am I missing the noise test (or is it in in the next video)? For me as a Dutchman, the 120 kph test is on the high side, which is about a 100 to 105 average in Holland (and allowed). But nevertheless, these test in duo make a good comparison in simulair conditions. These bigger cars and suv's suffer quite a lot doing higher speeds, so if they achieve 300 km+ in these conditions, i think its safe to say they will do 400+ easily at warner conditions and 100kmh average. Im looking for a follow up on mine polestar 2 dm, and the ev9 is also on my list, (also the polestar 3, bit difficult to compare, I know). So I was interested in the actual noise levels of the ev9. Given the secretive nature of the Chinese Communist Party, I don't prefer Chinese products, and using them feels like putting my life on the line, which is unappealing. It seems like using them would make me feel like a trashy person with significantly lower standards. And the situation is becoming psychologically more complex because there might be a second wave of coronavirus in China. Please be especially careful of HMPV.
