As an action-gamer, I only need the two paddles, but my FPS friends have expressed the exact same concerns. Plus, I'm you're absolutely on point, Sony needs consumer options to compete; colours and physical button layouts.

I recently just today cancelled my preorder of the dualsense edge. I was feeling left down that you can’t have all 4 back paddles in at the same time and only have two in. I have the Xbox elite v2 core controller bought the accessory kit with it and that seems far superior than what Sony is about to release I get the feeling that Sony just saw money gain with this controller without fully thinking of all the features it should have in todays gaming world I’ll just wait for reviews I think £209.99 that’s more pricy than the elite v2 controller that comes with the accessories it’s £142.99 on the Xbox store and in other places.

Definitely a good point. I have the elite controller also and haven’t run into any issues but a lot of people have had them fail on them. I’ll probably still have a hands on and unboxing of the dualsense edge when it comes out next week to see how it keeps up

I saw the V2 Xbox today for 60 bucks at my local microcenter. I don't like the cheat aspects of the CronusZen, but buy those two for 120 bucks and you got 4 paddles and a convert for use with the ps5 with a more comfy layout and options and 80 bucks cheaper than anything else on the market for the ps5. Idk. I think 🤔

Yes but the biggest point of the dualsense edge its the software something you might not get in the Xbox correct me if I'm wrong but with the edge as I'm a owner you get many software tweaks in the PS5 so u can customize over 30 profiles the downside is not use for PC who knows if Sony will release a update or app for that but so far it has been good for me

I’m mostly concerned about battery life and stick drift. I’m seeing early hands-on reports that the Edge has less battery life than the current dual sense. I’m also hearing there’s been no upgrade to the thumbstick module which could make stick drift replacement (@ $20 per) a regular thing.
I loved my Astro C40 and was saw it as a justifiable upgrade to the standard PS controller. Unfortunately the closer I look at the Edge I see less PRO and more just MODULAR.
    Am I alone here?

Can't you just use a claw grip, that is flick your index finger on your right hand over onto the face buttons and use the trigger with either your middle or ring finger, if you need to use the face buttons but still keep your thumb on the right thumbstick? I know loads of people that use Xbox Elite controllers but only ever have a couple of the paddles connected, mainly for changing gears in racing games or as a replacement for the L3 and R3 buttons etc, but not so much for using the face buttons. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I mean if you're that into FPS games that you're in the market for a new controller then why are you using a controller over a mouse and keyboard, anyway? Or even using a console over a computer for that matter.
Personally when I've tried it I've found that using more than a couple of paddles to be uncomfortable, that said, if I was designing it I would bin the paddles and just have a couple of hepatic switches embedded into the handles - similar to the front track pad - which you could configure to 2, 3 or 4 buttons, and call it job done but I don't work there.
The main issue that I have with Playstation controllers is that the left thumb stick isn't offset which makes using the D-pad awkward in games where it is used for item/weapon selection, since you have to lift your finger off the left thumbpad to use the D-pad which means you have to momentarily stop moving in the game, where as - if it was offset like it is on the Xbox controller - you can just use the thumb on your right hand. The way I work around it is to perform gymnastics with the right thumb, that is using it to hold the left thumb stick momentarily before transferring it back, which gets old. Yeah, there is a Razor controller you can buy that does feature the offset thumb stick - and the two extra paddles - but that thing is $50 more expensive and doesn't have all the features of the PS5 edge controller, so is a tough sell.
That said having a D-pad that is inline with the face buttons can be quite nice in certain situations such as movement in 2d games or for pulling off combos in fighting games etc.
Maybe it's all just a conspiracy to sell you overpriced controllers I dunno?

Idk wtf people do to there controllers but I have the PS5 controller that came with my horizon bundle and it has no drift even my black dualsense and galactic purple one has no drift and the Scuf is a fucken dualsense controller that was customized and its so fucken expensive as for COD I only use two paddles the battery life sucks i know but that didn't puch me away from the dualsense edge why because you have so much software in the PS5 To customize it and you can save more than 30 profiles its a great option the best part is the modules as for $20 its not bad ive heard gulikit might make modules for it in my opinion id rather pay $20 a module than replacing a hole controller
