What keeps bringing me back to this game is how it seamlessly blends traditional (albeit grotesquely exaggerated) Victorian gothic horror with Lovecraftian cosmic horror. Two of my three favorite types of horror.
Ok Im late but as someone who loves lovecraftian/eldritch horror I absolutely agree. Other than that I love everything about this game except for things I think they could’ve done to make it more interesting gameplay wise.
@nenadmilovanovic5271 not much weapon variety and no viable way to make a spellcasting class bother me. Vicerals not triggering sucks. The best boss fights are mostly on the dlc (which is phenomenal). The healing and bullet system are annoying at first.
The first time I saw the red moon hang low after Rom, that feeling is something I've never gotten in any game. I was already a Lovecraft fan and read his books, was hoping to "play" his stories. Then that happened and I was just in awe. 10 years later, I still play Bloodborne every year. And think about this game always. A true masterpiece, I love Bloodborne 😌
I’ve never replayed a game so much in life as much as Bloodborne. I just came back to it after playing Elden Ring and Armored Core and it still delivers. The art direction and setting is just second to none
wether it is easy to do or not. this was my first game i ever achieved a platinum on. manged to get to new game +7 without skipping any boss. the music is just incredible and the story is absolutely amazing.
I've platinumed BB as well. Chalice dungeons are not easy. Cursed chalice amygdala and watchdog basically require flawless play. Never going through the cursed chalices again.
Love it so much had to platinum myself and there’s still so much the game had to offer afterwards with chalice dungeons and self made challenge runs lol
You know what's crazy, I still find co-op and PvP consistently to this day! I play this game at least once a year, mess about, try to speed run, try to make weird builds etc... Literally is a masterpiece
I remember getting into the beta. I had left my crazy girl friend at the time and was living with my brother for a few weeks waiting to move into my new apartment. He was like, “how are you play this already?” I surprised him about me getting into the beta. We stayed up all night like kids. Such a great memory for me. I needed the fun. What a masterpiece of game. I beg my friends who only played Elden Ring to to play this.
I think it’s how well The cosmic horror is done, that makes it amazing never have I felt closer to the lovecraftian universe than when I played bloodborne
I love all the Return to from the Nexus to Lordran and even Drangelic. I'll never forget how crappy the summoning was in DS2 but me and this one dude somehow would find each other and help out. Him and me vs the Fume Knight over and over will always be a treasured memory.

i don't think Vaati has personally moved on, im sure he still loves and plays bloodborne, but there are only so many videos you can do on it when there is no new content. he's done videos on basically everything there is to do on bloodborne and then some.
Looking back, it’s really an astonishing and heartwarming experience to look back at my Bloodborne trophies and reminisce on the hundreds of hours I’ve spent playing this game. My first Fromsoftware game, one of my top five favorite video games, and a game I’m always happy to return a year or two later. It also warms my heart that this game has and always will be loved by the gaming community, now and always. It deserves it and more.
No game I’ve ever played has given me such a pure adrenaline rush even just going through the zones, not a boss fight, like bloodborne has The environment the sound effects the ambience the music I just I’m so glad it was my first souls game, but I’m definitely feeling the double-edged sword even after elden ring, I need more bloodborne
While it was in the DLC this game is the only one that legitimately made me feel uneasy, not scared, uneasy. The Fishing Hamlet is so perfect in atmosphere, sound design, and world building. The game is a true masterpiece!
Perfectly said, "only someone who's played Bloodborne could see where I'm coming from." I entered the streets of Yharnam after conquering the Lands Between and man, I was blown away by my first hunt. I haven't even touched the DLCs and missed somethings but man, this game is just something special. I love Berserk already, so it's in my genre but if this game were to ever be remastered... Man.

Among the souls games my personal fav is Sekiro but the way u explain Bloodborne...it motivating me to start playing it...coz i have the game but never started it!
i just started playing this gem after a few years of not touching this and considering all the experience I had since with all the From Games, I cant emphasize how much I still consider Bloodborne to be the best of their games. I would give out Elden Ring for Bloodborne 2 without hesitation, even though I enjoyed Elden Ring thoroughly. Bloodborne is incredible, one of a lifetime experience for me. I love the ideas and thoughts it touches, the irony and cynicism sparkled a top of it, I just cant get enough of the world, being obsessed with it Cut Content to squeeze out even more of the content, which may not even be there, as most of it are speculations. But even after 8 years, I still keep finding interesting details I have never noticed before, many things fall in their order, other get ejected and reassambled again and again. Truly maddening.
@@Skegfromcraigslist well sadly, like many jap companies, fromsoft and sony had falling out. So bloodborne 2, most likely never happens. Or if it will, it will be without fromsoft since sony owns full rights to bloodborne.
I consider myself a Bloodborne fanatic, so I've seen every video that's out there. I thought you did a fantastic job here, superbly narrated, no cheesy, jarring jokes, and an origin story that mirrored my own when it came to approaching the game (this was also my first FS experience). I know this game backwards but I always enjoy watching retrospectives on it and I thought yours was excellent. Can't wait to see the Old Hunters video when you get round to it. Bravo, good hunter.
A hunter must hunt! Great video man! It really shows the immense love you have for this game, can't wait for more of your content, love the writing! Bloodborne was also the first souls game i've played and remains as one of my all time favorites as well! Just like this video, a true masterpiece!
I’ve put about 400 hours into this beautiful nightmare. I’ve guided a half dozen people to platinums. Listened to & read nearly countless hours worth of lore content, and here I am…watching this, and loving it. I’ll never transcend the hunt. Great video.
Well said, I literally set the goal in 2016 when I first played, of replaying this game at least once every year to full completion. Never gets old, always a thrill
One of the best Return to Yharnam events was a years ago when it lined up with Bloodborne being a free monthly game. I'd never seen so many messengers around lanterns before! There was also no wait time for cooperators. This game was why I got a PS4 and the prime reason I keep up my PS subscription (blood-starved beast is my favorite boss to help people with). Everything about it, from the aesthetic to the quickness of combat, is just combined so perfectly that I find myself revisiting Bloodborne every few months.
This was my first FromSoftware game as well and is easily my favourite. So long I had put off playing anything in this genre, through nerves more than anything but once I dove in it quickly became one of my all time favourite games. Absolutely incredible game and one that I tell anyone who will listen that they need to try. Masterpiece indeed.
Bloodborne was my favorite platinum to chase. I don't bounce off the chalice dungeons as much as most people seem to, but that defiled amygdala singlehandedly made me change the way I played the game. What an incredible game
I wanna say that fashion souls first became a really big thing first in Dark Souls 2. There are so many cool and unique armor pieces in that game, you can make some seriously godly guys or a complete and utter monstrosity. I remember watching Lobosjr streams where people would be invited on to show off their drip and it was a really cool interactive experience.
@@kirkcavenaugh758every weapon in bb is viable and come with mostly unique movesets.. as opposed to the 200+ weapons of ds2, the vast majority of which function entirely the same and 90% of which have never been equipped by a single player in the history of the game for any significant amount of time. Weapon bloat for the sake of “variety and options” don’t enhance the experience outside of cluttering your inventory.
My platinum journey has been the whole 8 years. My mother in law, one Christmas got me Bloodborne cause she knows I love video games, when I never even heard of From Software, but knew of dark souls, and her reasoning for gifting me it is “it look gothic and spooky and I know you like gothic and spooky” and through these 8 years I’ve given up and gone back, several times until I finally beat the game and felt brave and skilled enough for the platinum. I’m two trophies away as writing this. This platinum is absolutely a labor of love.
How people feel about Bloodborne is how I feel about Elden Ring. Bloodborne just made me very nervous the whole time I played it, so much so I had to play it with a friend cause I was too creeped out and I was gonna get lost. I beat it once and never picked it back up lol. Then Elden Ring drew me back to Soulborne games and I loved it
Bloodborne was my first Soulslike game I played. It's funny thinking back about learning it first because I adapted to it easily. I was giving tips to my friend who had played the dark souls games. I remember watching him play telling him stuff like, " Dude you can't sit back and wait, get in there, there is your opening! Hit him!." Good memories.
Couldn't finish the video. Got to through the intro and had to go play the game! Glad you got over that initial fear of playing and gave it a try. Edit: I also see the parallels between Bleach characters weapons and Trick Weapons.
I started my first ever fromsoft game with Bloodborne, I was hooked and it has been my favorite games ever hands-down. I have played over countless hours, and played the hell out of Darksouls 3. Currently playing through all the other titles, as through a rough patch I had to sell my consoles but now I have a better situation and I played through Darksouls1, currently amidst of Darksouls 2 and next I am gonna play Eldenring on my PC. I am saving for a PS5 to play Demonsouls and the beloved Bloodborne. YET I always find my way back to Bloodborne, the setting, the music, the bosses, and the... THE WEAPONS. Hell, I even got a Bloodborne tattoo, IT IS A MASTERPIECE. To think too, my first ever playthrough I raged quit at Bloodstarved beast.. two months, I came back and was obsessed. Please never let this game die.
I’ve got a weird story with BB Bloodbourne. (Long comment) It was not only the first FromSoft game I played, it was the first Soulslike that I ever played. This was years ago when the game first released. Within hours, I gave up. I couldn’t understand why anyone would make an impossible game. I didn’t understand character builds, I couldn’t comprehend gameplay. I hated everything about this game and I quit. Like a b***ch. Fast forward to the PS5. Demonsouls is upgraded by Bluepoint. It was one of the only games available on the PS5 at that time so I bought it. I was having the same issues with this title. But, it was the Cov era and I had nothing to do. So, I went to UA-cam and found FightingCowboys walkthrough. With his help, I started to understand DemonSouls. After a bit, I stopped watching his walkthrough on the game and eventually beat it. Then…EldenRing happened. I love ER. I dumped so much time into that game that I’m surprised my wife is still with me. To me, at the time, ER was the one of the greatest games ever made. After finishing it, I went on to another of my favorite franchises, God of War Ragnarok… Fast forward to about two weeks ago. I was bored out of my mind. I found myself playing games like CoD:DMZ and FIFA. But, I was missing that single player game that made me feel something. I was scrolling thru my list of games I had in my library and I saw Bloodbourne. The game that made me quit… I downloaded it. With my new knowledge of the genre and FromSoft…I went in. Man…this game is so good. Even though the frame rate is at 30fps, even though it’s a little dated graphically…I have fallen in love with it. I haven’t beat it yet, but it’s quickly taken over every other game I may have been thinking of playing. If you’re new to this type of game, stay strong. You will not regret it.
I saw this in recommended and figured I could do for another round of gushing over Bloodborne. What I didn't expect was to have my ears blessed by the narration of MrTommo himself. Needless to say I didn't pay attention to the channel, so it was a welcome surprise.
Love the enthusiasm my dude. Thought it was kind of funny when you were mentioning weapons and then listed two of the most boring weapons in the game Ludwig’s holy blade and the Kirk hammer. Keep playing bro. If you’ve never played through with the bow blade or whirly saw it would be a shame. That all said love this video. You have a beautiful grasp of language and vernacular. You don’t use words that are overly nuanced and taxing on listeners ears. Cheers.
That one game i bought just for the style and gameplay i saw..... not knowing what a From Soft game is as a new PS4 owner in 2018. This game discouraged me to play it.. scared me at every single point so I quit. A year later I picked it up again knowing a little bit about From Soft games again ended up quitting but this time around the game stayed in a corner of my mind asking me to come back. When i gritted my teeth pushed through the Cleric Beast and used a few guides to understand the mechanics moved scared at a snail's pace to the finishing line. Till this days one of the most fresh experience I have ever experienced. Waiting for Bloodborne 2 in any form at all. Only Sekiro, Dark Souls and DS3 scratched that itch a bit but none of it even came as close to Bloodborne's peak. Even Elden Ring the supposed culminarion of From Soft's everything did not do much for the thirst for more Bloodborne simply because none of these games wanted me to stop playing and understanding the mysteries and tragedy of the world like Bloodborne did. The nightmarish nature of this game is uncomfortable in a physical level. When i understood the mysteries though it was pretty much assorting the puzzle pieces; investigating archeologically to study a destroyed civilization. Still one of the best experiences I have ever had.
I played four Soulsborne games . BB, Demon Souls, DS3 and ER. Bloodborne is by far the best of them. It’s focused and deeply integrated story lore is just unmatched, my opinion of course but I think many share my view.
We have the exact same story of how we came to play BB as our first souls game. It's crazy that a game being super hard will scare everyone away, until they actually try it. Once you try it, it's like an addiction that you can't break from. I watched a friend play DS2 over and over and I never understood why you'd want to die over and over. Now I understand.
How is it NPC? I mean theres only so much you can say about a anything after a while but I for one enjoy watching people gush over such an amazing game
Yet for whatever reason you felt the need to go out of your way to find & watch all of those videos regardless. What exactly are you expecting to hear that hasn’t already been said? You are aware that it’s pretty much the same with literally any piece of media right? It isn’t unique to bloodborne.
Bloodborne is my favorite from FromSoftware game. I love the art style, gameplay, sound design, story, world, music, boss fights, and more. I like and enjoy their other games but something about Bloodborne stays with me and I end up replaying the game and always blown away by it. Really do wish it would get a PC release. Great video on this great game. Thank you!
It does get better over time but anyone who dismisses it as something that doesn't/shouldn't matter is just being silly, there's a reason for the cries for bloodborne remaster, 60fps patch, bloodborne 2 and so forth. It makes a huge difference and people who are used to 144 or 60 might really struggle. For how fast passed it's combat system is, it really takes away from the experience. But that being the absolute main point against the game really shows just how good it is. I DESPISE playing at 30fps and bloodborne STILL managed to be my favorite soulslike.
You are aware that literally every soulsborne game suffers from frame rate drops at one point or another right? It’s amazes me that people act as if frame rate is a bloodborne unique issue. There literally isn’t a single souls game that doesn’t have frame rate drops. Not to mention bloodborne came out in 2015 for ps4? The game is a product of its time and hardware limitations.
Bloodborne gave me everything I ever wanted and more in a game like this, till this day it is my favorite game all time even now, it’s just so perfect from the bosses, to the enemies down to its setting and atmosphere that is around it, I will always remember and return to this game.
The influence of H.P Lovecraftian horror just made the experience so much more fantastic. Piecing together all of the secrets is really fun. I love to play lore dive videos while I play to make my experience more thrilling. I'm a Souls veteran and I have forever loved this game more than any other titles, even Elden Ring
I remember when Miyazaki was doing interviews about this game, and it’s honestly the most passionately I’ve ever seen him speak about anything. I also noticed that the team clearly loved the game so much they actually made DS3 feel a bit more like Bloodborne instead of like DS1 and DS2. Those refinements that people talk about, the things that made DS3 better than DS1 and DS2, were just things that they learned while making Bloodborne. It is still by far the best FromSoftware game, and I’ve played all of them. The game felt so focused in a way, the immersion felt off the charts. The soundtrack, bosses, combat, aesthetic, design, Old Hunters being the best thing I’ve ever played, everything they did in this game reminded me why good design matters above all. It’s one of those once in a lifetime gaming experiences that make me think me of the first time I played The Witcher 3. Best game Sony ever published.
Great vid, I just spent the last 6 weeks playing bloodborne again, chalice and speed runs. My PB currently is 45 mins no deaths...have over 1000 hours and still love it sooo much.

After several Elden Ring playthroughs, my first Soulsborne game, I'm going back to play some of the classics. Beat Dark Souls 1, started Dark Souls 2 and will tackle Dark Souls 3 next and Bloodborne last. I know that BB came out between DS2 and DS3 but based on all I've seen and heard, I expect Bloodborne to be my favorite of these four games so I'm saving it for last. :)
I do like Bloodborne. But for me, the giant monsters and eldrich abominations aren't usually road blocks. That said, I did struggle a lot with Blood Starved Beast. Instead, it's the hunters that give me the most trouble.
Can relate to every single word in this video. So happy to see that people still talk about this game.❤ I spent last month in London and everything was reminding me of Yharnam 😅, it made me want to refresh my memory about the game. Thanks for the content
Excellent video! It's rare that you can make and hour+ video about how great one video game is. Bloodborne was a rare gift. I'd love to revisit it in a sequel, only if done by FromSoft and Miyazaki.
You know what. I agree. This game is From's best title because it forced me to adapt to a style that didn't rely on shields. I never once felt like I cheesed a boss and every victory, big or small, felt earned.
This game was my first souls game is way too perfect since the first hour of playing I knew already that I was playing one of the best games in history and I wasn’t wrong.
I STILL think about my first playthrough of Bloodborne. Going in blind was the best decision I could have made. I dont say this lightly...but it is as close to a masterpiece as a game could get in my eyes. So happy to live in the Universe that allowed Bloodborne to exist and for me to exist to play it.
So I've blown up this comment section with lots of separate comments, but in fairness with a game like this I feel it deserves a lot of attention lol. I would say a good video would be if you made one detailing each of the separate major factions and key figures of said factions. And another video going over the story and locations found within the Old Hunters dlc. Despite hundreds of videos being made of this game I feel it always deserves countless more, and your prose when describing events and themes in every topic you cover is amongst the best I've heard. I'd love for you to delve into all the facets of this you can, as not many deliver the narrative descriptions you are capable of in my humble opinion.
Great Video. Love your voice and narration. It took me 3 years to complete it. I struggled a lot during my first playthrough. I just couldn't resist Yharnam, music, teick weapons and so much more. I ended up earning my first Platinum trophy. The only game i play every year.
This was the first souls game i played in my life, beat it after days of constant grinding and oh my god, its just truly a work of fine art. The weapons, the gameplay, the atmosphere, etc.
The last line from Gehrman is my favorite . His lore and character and his design plus his sickass weapon makes him my favorite character from all fromsoftware games . He's just great bruh
After playing Elden Ring for ~1 year I recently went back to Bloodborne and man, this game still rocks (despite the 30fps cap), hands down my favourite game. Also, it has the coolest weapon in any From game imo, the Holy Moonlight Sword
This game holds such a cherished spot in my heart, played it since day one and it just gets better and better every playthrough. Perfect. Also for all those just starting bloodborne, make sure you give ''The Paleblood Hunt'' a listen by Redgrave. Thank me later. Have fun hunters!

My first one too. Beat it with all 3 cords as well.

"A community baptism in madness" is such a great description of what Bloodborne did to me and many people
The trick weaponry always made me feel like each weapon had a Shikai release. Like Gothic Zanpakutō.
Great point.

Bloodborne was my first soulsborne. Since then I’ve play all three dark souls, Elden ring, and sekiro but Bloodborne is still my favorite. I just love the art style, the combat, the eldritch themes I just can’t get enough of, and of course the music.
I haven't played any other Soulsborne title yet, but from what I've seen from the other titles' gameplay I will most propably only try Sekiro and Elden Ring.
Bloodborne is just emmaculate all around between enemy, level, or character design, combat, storytelling, music, sfx and even presentation
Its insane how close to perfection this game is
The only flaw would be fast travel and some bugs like visceral attacks not triggering. Other than that the game is perfect.
@@nenadmilovanovic5271 oh and that one chalice dungeon that halves your health and makes you fight an amygdala in a tiny room can gladly leave
It’s got some tedious issues, but if any game deserves a title of perfect, I’ll gladly give it to Bloodborne.
@@nenadmilovanovic5271 bloodgem farming, bloodvial replenishing, no true fast travel, chalice dungeons in general, no real benefits to the allegiance caryll runes, some trick weapons got overlooked and power crept especially, after dlc.
That's an incredible Platinum to get!
Not easy at all fuckign chalice dungeons
I've platinumed BB as well. Chalice dungeons are not easy. Cursed chalice amygdala and watchdog basically require flawless play. Never going through the cursed chalices again.
Love it so much had to platinum myself and there’s still so much the game had to offer afterwards with chalice dungeons and self made challenge runs lol
its easy in a way u dont need to grind like a madman or do N+ unlike darksouls or even worse, demon souls where u need to check the world tendency.
Wait, wtf?! I didn’t know there was a community-ran anniversary event every year for Bloodborne! I’m SO pissed I missed it. 💀
I beg my friends who only played Elden Ring to to play this.

i just started playing this gem after a few years of not touching this and considering all the experience I had since with all the From Games, I cant emphasize how much I still consider Bloodborne to be the best of their games.

Thanks so much Arthur!
It really shows how much effort you put into your videos, but this one was especially well made. Thanks for the vids as always!
Thank you so much!
My first from game and and still my favorite after going through them all. Truly special
Im playing it for the first time..absolutely a masterpiece
I wanna say that fashion souls first became a really big thing first in Dark Souls 2. There are so many cool and unique armor pieces in that game, you can make some seriously godly guys or a complete and utter monstrosity. I remember watching Lobosjr streams where people would be invited on to show off their drip and it was a really cool interactive experience.
Good weapon and gear variety is all this game is really missing. Would make it an 11 out of 10.
Even demons souls had a fashion souls community, so it didn’t just suddenly become big in ds2 or bloodborne.
Love to see Bloodborne getting love after all these years!
BB soundtrack is so good I literally listen to it as I study. A hoonter must hoont his homework
How people feel about Bloodborne is how I feel about Elden Ring. Bloodborne just made me very nervous the whole time I played it, so much so I had to play it with a friend cause I was too creeped out and I was gonna get lost. I beat it once and never picked it back up lol. Then Elden Ring drew me back to Soulborne games and I loved it
Great job with this video; would love to see you do a retrospective on The Old Hunters dlc.
Thanks so much - it's definitely happening at some point!
(Long comment)
It was not only the first FromSoft game I played, it was the first Soulslike that I ever played.
After finishing it, I went on to another of my favorite franchises, God of War Ragnarok…
Fast forward to about two weeks ago. I was bored out of my mind. I found myself playing games like CoD:DMZ and FIFA. But, I was missing that single player game that made me feel something. I was scrolling thru my list of games I had in my library and I saw Bloodbourne. The game that made me quit…
I downloaded it.
I still don´t understand how we didn´t get a upgrade for this game or a remaster...or a sequel...shame! Amazing video man!
This game is a masterpiece
I saw this in recommended and figured I could do for another round of gushing over Bloodborne. What I didn't expect was to have my ears blessed by the narration of MrTommo himself. Needless to say I didn't pay attention to the channel, so it was a welcome surprise.
BB > ER by far.
Cheers.
The reason I bought a ps4.
Love this game. I really hope its gets a PC port soon.
I played four Soulsborne games . BB, Demon Souls, DS3 and ER. Bloodborne is by far the best of them. It’s focused and deeply integrated story lore is just unmatched, my opinion of course but I think many share my view.
Great combat, compelling story, well written characters, beautiful soundtrack, 4 out of 10
We have the exact same story of how we came to play BB as our first souls game. It's crazy that a game being super hard will scare everyone away, until they actually try it. Once you try it, it's like an addiction that you can't break from. I watched a friend play DS2 over and over and I never understood why you'd want to die over and over. Now I understand.
i love bb
It's been a long while since I played Bloodborne. This is a good reminder of why it's still fantastic.
every bloodborne video says the exact same thing every single time, NPC content genuinely
Mom says its my turn to make a video essay on this underrated gem called Bloodborne
Thank you!
I can hardly believe people actually enjoy that game in 25 fps. For me souls below 50 fps would be unplayable
Cry harder lol
As a console player we kinda don't care@@SchwartzBOSS
Yea fps really does matter for souls games, it’s hard for me to go back to the game.

Big fan of your Bleach content. I just got around to listening to this. Your narrative skills are top notch as usual. Keep up the content!
I am currently ringing my bell to help people against Orphan of Kos and you drop this video? Hell yeah! 😌
I’ve seen countless Bloodborne analysis videos as I love this game very much, but yours stand out truly, very good job sir!

The video just started and I already respect you. Hail the dream is criminally underlooked
Can relate to every single word in this video. So happy to see that people still talk about this game.❤

Excellent work 😊 I hope you do another one on the chalices and the old hunters. The lore, so much lore... 😉
