    I’ve been storing my Elantra for 5 months (been away for personal reasons), and I’m 100% sure the battery is dead when I get back home…
    I don’t have a convenient way of jump starting it, but I would love to have one of those! It would solve my problem immediately.
    Even if I don’t win, thanks for the great content anyways, my friend.

    Those small bump boxes sure do come in handy for a few things. Wouldn't want to be without one. a bit concerning that you had battery issues on both your vehicles at around the 6 month mark. No vehicle that see daily usage should have issues in that short a time span. I get it today's vehicles have many more demands on the battery and charging system but over the past 10 years and with all 5 new vehicles I seem to get no more than 3 years out of any of them and they get daily usage even the expensive glass mat ones.The other garage queens all get a battery tender as that the only way to avoid buying a new battery every few years.

    This happened to my Elantra N-line when I only had it for 8 months. was gonna get it warrantied but decided to have AAA put in their own battery which costed but actually had slightly higher specs.
    If this issue is happening across multiple vehicles then I feel like the manufacturer of those batteries are just garbage.
    Edit: forgot to mention that a bad cell in the battery is why it wouldn't start. But was getting power.... Sorta. The sounds you'd hear was all deep and slower. The battery was outputting 5 volts max due to a bad cell.

  • @ronforeman2556
    @ronforeman2556 2 роки тому

    The problem with your Elantra N failing to start may not be with your battery and/or charging system: You may have a faulty starter. I had a similar experience with our 2019 KIA Sorento SXL (equipped with a 290hp, 3.3L V6 and an 8-speed torque-converter automatic). I was out and about, stopped to get something to eat, came back to the car and it wouldn't start. Called AAA, they tested the battery and it wouldn't take a charge, so they installed a new one. I got back on the road and had one more stop to make. When I tried to start the car again, it struggled to turn over. So I drove directly to the KIA dealership. To make a long story short, they traced the problem to the starter, which they replaced under warranty. I still don't understand why a bum starter would 86 the battery. All I know is that I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem with a Hyundai/KIA vehicle.
    As for my Sonic Blue (!) Kona N, I've put about 2,100 trouble-free miles on it since I bought it at the end of May 2022 (for straight MSRP). I've accumulated most of those miles over long-distance drives at posted+ (shh!) freeway speeds, with changes in elevation from 2,400 to 9,200 feet. So far, the car is all Albert (Car Christ) Biermann promised it would be. I still wish the US-spec car included ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a power passenger seat, and two memory settings for the driver's seat, all of which are included in Kona Ns shipped to other territories.I wouldn't be surprised if Hyundai were to include some or all of those features on the 2023 refresh..

    I had an issue with my 21 elantra n line where out of the blue it acted like the battery was completely dead and jumping it didn't help. Turns out the battery wasn't actually dead it was something with the computer because I unplugged the battery, let it sit so all the capacitors would die, and then hooked the battery back up and then the everything inside started working again and the car started right up. I wonder if that's what happened to you to because the battery shouldn't die with how new your car is... Maybe you should also check if their is any current drain on the battery when everything should be off

      Yeah I’ll keep an eye on it and run some tests for sure. Thanks for the feedback 🤘🏻

    My battery died on my new 2021 VN DCT after 2 months of ownership. No issues other than that after a year.

    Did they figure out why it was dead? Also, good news, my Elantra is supposed to be in next week on the 18th. These delivery dates are all over the place. Fingers crossed though!!

    I want one!
    What is the reason why your battery died? It cant be for all Elantra Ns out there… or were you sponsored by the battery you had to say your battery died?

      It really did die, but when I get it tested or take it to the dealer I’ll be sure to share what happens.
