Alexis Roland-Manuel (22 March 1891 - 1 November 1966) was a French composer and critic, remembered mainly for his criticism.
An older sibling of other Hommage, for Ravel one, this time it directly imitates a funeral march. Repeating notes resemble a bell for evocative the death/funeral. It is can be say that, he was influenced by Le gibet from Gaspard de la nuit.
