This is unbelievably amazing! I've been struggling for weeks to figure this out for church. I'll try it as soon as I get to church tomorrow (Christmas day). What I was doing was to take the signal from the line out (A & B) where I patched the main LR mix to, into the computer's line in port. That signal was way louder than the USB out but not as clean. I used this to feed my mic in for zoom. I then used the USB out (SQ 1-2 USB) as an input source in OBS, applied the gain and compressor filters and this was able to help me get decent clean volume as well. The gain filter was set at around +30dB. I found this trick somewhere online. I livestremed from OBS, but this trick couldn't work for zoom because it's inbuilt mic amplification just wasn't enough. Then, I used tie lines through USB to do simultaneous multi track recording in Reaper for me to edit later. I basically used 3 different ways to bring in sound to one computer to feed 3 applications: zoom, OBS, reaper. I'm glad I can possibly reduce that to just 2 and stop using the noisy line out for zoom. The way my church works, we use zoom and OBS at the same time and getting audio to work well on both has been a bit challenging. Thanks a lot once again!
I have my SQ5 for 3 months now and needed a matrix for subs today. I needed to search a bit in the UI but I found it. I just did watch the video afterwards to check, if I was right. This proves to me, that A&H's workflow works for me.
Great video, is this how I would increase my streaming volume without making LR to loud in the room? I wish you had also showed it on the board so I could see what you were pushing. Thx!
Could you just use a solo bus to monitor Main L/R and ensure your PAFL settings are such that when there is no PAFL assigned to a channel that it defaults to Main L/R? That way you don’t lose one of the very few matrices that you get with the SQ,s?
Where would I see the MTXs in the Routing page on my SQ-6? I see how to send our MainLR mix to the certain MTX that I want but I’m unsure of how to see what is being sent to the MTXs themselves. How do I see that via a button on the board?

But I want to get an extra one for bigger uses and to have a back up. I’m thinking of the avantis solo but I have seen some comments on problems with the screen freezing and faders failing. What’s your experience with them. I’m also thinking of a Yamaha DM7 compact.
Hi there! We have 2 of the Sq5s since around 2020. The first one we got in 2020 had a bad card that had to be replaced because it was popping on the main outputs randomly. They replaced it under warranty, no charge and haven't had another issue since. I think that was an issue very early on because the second unit hasn't had that issue. Knock on wood, but we haven't had any issues with these. We don't have any experience with the higher up Avantis yet. The solo does look pretty neat but it's pretty new hardware so may be some issues they have to work out.

Sure - with SQ you can route all 12 auxes if you like to any of the 3 matrices. The procedure is exactly the same, except you need to select the Aux bus you want to use instead of Main LR at ua-cam.com/video/MUn1XdFOMFs/v-deo.html. Select Aux instead, then raise the Matrix level.
I wish you would have shown the board instead of the tablet app. I would also like to know how to edit or change one of the 3 matrix's from one source to another. Or how do you select in the beginning before any matrix has been programmed, how to load or select what the matrix will be sending. Where and when can you re name it etc. Maybe consider doing a more in depth follow up video, part 2? Someone programmed our 3 matrix's with things I don't want to use and need to change them.
Hey Louisiana, I have a doubt. In this video you are demonstrating on SQ 5. Which has 12 physical XLR outputs that can be used for Aux busses / Main Masters/ Groups or Matrixes as mono or stereo. I also have SQ5. If i want to increase my i/o by connecting AR2412 + AB168 to turn 40 inputs & 20 outputs on dSnake Rack or also can say 63 inputs & 36 outputs combining Surface board & i/o rack. How can i full access those additional outputs when there i can only find 12 mix buttons on my right. Please help do make a video for the same. I've searched a lot on UA-cam, but couldn't find a single video explaning expanding outputs. Thanks
Maybe someone else can chime in, but I don't think there is a good way around controlling more than 12 mixes plus LR on one console. You get LR plus 12aux/group outputs as far as I can tell. With that many outs, you usually use two consoles. One for monitor mixes, one for FOH. You can link another console via SLINK card with Cat5
Does this give you the ability to change the volumes of individual channel inputs or just give you a matrix master volume? I wondered in the last screen shot in your video, are the left hand channels (“Nord”,”usb” etc) channels you can manipulate for that matrix mix? Cheers
Hi Jason, Matrix is not intended for individual channel control as any channels you adjust for the Main LR would be adjusted in the Matrix mix too (if that's the bus you pull your matrix from as I did). For creating a separate mix from main LR, you'd want to do an Aux Mix. SQ can do twelve separate Aux mixes if you need them!

lol, I had exactly the opposite problem today, but the same reaction. There are infinite possible names, but only so many that humans can actually use.
What he is describing is an Aux output, not a Matrix. An Aux output allows you to send any type of mix (you create) at any volume, and has independent output processing. What he doesn't understand is the difference between an Aux and a Matrix is that a Matrix is a group of outputs; Groups, MainLR, or Aux's. A Matrix is processed after the MainLR or Aux, and has it's own independent output processing. It also adds a tiny amount of latency (12 samples), according to AH.
Actually, we are sending a copy of the Main LR mix to an alternate destination at a different volume which is one of the many uses of a matrix. I mention in the video that we could add other aux mixes to that but our needs were simple in this case. You cannot copy the Main LR mix to an aux in the SQ5. Aux outputs are exactly as you described but not for copying the Main LR to a new destination with independent volume control. You’d still need to create a different mix. Are there other ways to do it- maybe, but this is built in already and easy to do!
