After months of silence, pop sensation Rihanna is talking publicly about her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, and the February 2009 events that led to his arrest.
"The more in love we became, the more dangerous we became for each other," she told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview set to air on "Good Morning America" at 7am ET Thursday, Nov. 5. Their full interview will air on "20/20" at 10p E.T. Friday, Nov. 6.
In August, Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community service and one year of domestic violence counseling for assaulting the 21-year-old pop singer the night before the Grammy Awards.

When she said “That’s the type of person I fell in love with, that’s embarrassing”, I felt that to my core. I recently left a physically abusive relationship after giving multiple chances. This can happen to anybody, and to anyone who finally broke free from domestic violence, you are all brave and I hope you are all happy and safe❤️❤️

It has since been revealed that she was abusive towards him as well but in this interview she was denying it and acting like she was only a victim not also an aggressor.

I remember when this happened. I was a little kid. I didn’t understand what Domestic Abuse was. I couldn’t fathom that somebody that loves you could hurt you. To this day, I refuse to listen to Chris Brown’s music or support him in anyways, and yeah, he doesn’t know me and my follow wouldn’t affect him. There’s so many people that continued to idolize him afterwards.
I once heard some girl say “I would let Chris Brown beat me” because she idolized him. It’s sad and disgusting. An abuser is always an abuser.

Removing myself from a toxic relationship was one of the best things I ever did! When you are in a abusive/toxic relationship you spend more time covering up how toxic it is and you just get lost in the relationship. 4:01 unfortunately victims of domestic abuse always go back to their abuser because they've been brainwashed. Every psychologist knows this. One of the hardest things I've learned in school is that it's normal behavior for victims to go back. Instead of getting mad at the victims for going back, we should be directing our anger toward the abusers for not letting them go and for abusing them in the first place. The problem is with the abuser who abuses, manipulates, gaslights and doesn't let them go, NOT with the victim.
And Rihanna is not teaching people anything, she is not teacher no victims to go back. Domestic abuse victims always go back because abusers never let them go, and sadly the psychology of an abuse victims will never change even if they see a celebrity "setting an example" by not going back.
Instead of blaming celebrities and victims for going back to their abusers, we should teach men (and women) not to be abusers.
I was in a relationship that involved domestic violence, and rihanna gave the best advice.! Don't stay for love.... f love! Many women are going thru this because they believe he will change! Just get yourself out of that situation . Once he's disrespected you he always will. I gave more than another chance I gave him many chances, but he never changed.

I did not see this when it first came out although i knew of the story and saw her photos on the news. I watched it now and sobbed unrelentlessly realizing how true her word were and the imact of what she said about going back 8 or 9 times. I went to back to my ex that same amount of times.. even after he beat someone in front of me almost killing them, choking me, stalking, threatening, breaking my nose twice, giving me concussions, starving me, spitting in my face, throwing freezing water on me with no heat or blanket while i tried to sleep, putting me in an institution for 30 days, physcially assaulting me over and over and sexual, snapping my neck, ribs, throwing out my dead grandpa's ashes, stealing my dog, trying to drive off cliffs many times, video ing me when I passed out, hiding cameras in the house, losing all my family and friends, and it continued over and over.... I had to live this secret double life and pretend everything was okay for years. Meanwhile I'm been robbed financially, and my entire body has given up and surrendered to the abuse. My uncle filed a missing person report and I was in a woman's shelter many times and he continued to find me and i continued to be to traumatized to leave, I was so brainwashed and afraid that I actually felt safer to be closer to the enemy and know their moves then to be away and watching my back and dipping into paranoid insanity.

I’m a multiple and life long survivor. Domestic abuse isn’t love and it’s not your fault (no matter what they say to you) you’re worth surviving for. Even if one tried to argue reprimand is a form of correction on behavior, the restructuring of behavior is not met by beating another human resulting damage that takes further restructuring to correct the resulting damage. Love is kind, love is tender, love is compassionate, love is understanding, love is caring for the other person. Love builds up, love does not tear down. Abuse is not love. Love is love.
