- This is a video we recorded of a JLG 1850SJ going up to max height which is 185 ft. This rig is not for someone with a faint stomach when it comes to heights. Filmed with GoPro Hero 4 Black. This is a reupload from our other channel. This version is sped up to get more to the point.
If I was the one going up on that machine on a windy day. I would all of a sudden start showing covid-19 symptoms.
Love it when you can hear the motion alarm get quieter and quieter
Safety:
“Aight, Imma head out”
One of the coolest/most nerve racking things I've ever done
I’ve used 100s of times, but never @185ft. That takes control, balls, and a harness
Well, to be fair, any boom lift requires a harness. But yeah, the difference between a 120 and a 185 is huge.
I work w a 55 and my company doesn’t provide harness
@@carterclaire7176 that is a total violation of OSHA rules. buy one, They’re cheap
@@carterclaire7176bull! The lift rental place won’t even drop it if you don’t show proof of a harness where I live. And working on a lift you’re exposed. And inspector or osha employee can see you.
jeez the traffic was really in a hurry that day!
imagine that this thing got stucked and you cannot go down....
I got stuck half way in one before because it was malfunctioning. Actually it was this model lol. Testing it and wasnt working properly then when trying to go down it would buck.
There are safeties that can be operated by ground crew to get the basket back down.

This isn’t the same model, but they all have similar lowering systems.
I’d say I’d just rappel down, but if i was at 185ft, I’d need 35 more feet of rope.🤷🏻
Proof the earth is not flat!!!
@SaintCynical nerd
Fisheye lense, genius.
@ThekiBo
I'd say he was joking.
Every little movement et the sway would be nerve wrecking
At first I thought, 185ft, 120ft, what’s the difference? Let me tell you...there’s a HUGE difference. I actually felt some butterflies my first few times.
"I can see the curvature of the earth!" said the fisheye lense.
Doesn't really look like 185' . But I wouldn't go up that high on that thing unless that thing was anchored to the ground
I drove a snorkel fire apparatus for HFD back in the 1970's. I thought that was tall! Watching this video sure brought back some memories. Things have sure changed.
120’s will make it so tight you couldn’t shove a sowing needle in it, I’ll Pass on the 185.
these are fun to go in, i test these everyday as a mechanic for a rental company. you can literally wave to helicopter pilots and see them wave back
Impressive machine for sure!
Me getting on that thing...."Today is a good day to die".
The Creeking 😬
great sharing, look great view and scary high XD
Was up in a 125 once. Wow.
Anymore Working times vidieos this machine
So firefighters can’t have something built like this to help put out the taller buildings on fire?? Especially in the UK??
It would be one thing to get up that high but to bring a decent flow of water with you would be nearly impossible. If you are talking about it being used to rescue people it would be incredibly time consuming and dangerous to rescue people with. It’s definitely a good thought though. It’s just the physics behind it all are too much of a concern.
These things weigh around 50,000 pounds and need to be transported by a semi truck and an oversized load permit. By the time it is loaded, gets there, and is unloaded, most people in need of rescue would likely be dead
Did they go up without a helmet?!
Not even close to the tallest. Alpha Platforms has a 300’.
As you going up on the boom you should be showing the controls how working them and talk during your video...
Definitely not the world's tallest lol and wasn't when this was filmed 6 years ago
Need to put one in my rental fleet....
Im no expert but, i dont think your average billy bob will need to go 185 feet over his 25 foot house😅
Max I can do is 125 so far
it certainly looks to be a pleasant machine.
also, pretty sure they have a slightly bigger one now.
nice video +1
Nope
Wear your depends. 😊
Oh hell no
worlds tallest xDD it was in 1999 maybe xD
Can get bigger vehicle mounted ewp's but these are the biggest self powered.
Hard no! Lol
I don’t wanna be there with some bad wind gust over 30mph 😖
Just worked on one today at 180 ft and it was pretty scary only 4 more days to go until the weekend
At 185 feet wouldn't you need a radio for communication with aircraft
No?? 😂😂😂
