I absolutely LOVE this show, and cant eait for Season 3 to come out! Some people call it "sanitized" or "unrealistic" or whatever, but I for one think we need more LGBT media that's sweet and wholesome (and not horribly tragic or over-sexualized) like this. If i had media like this 15 years ago when I was in highschool, my self-worth and ideas of love and sexuality might've been a little different... Not trying to bkame all my problems onto TV shows or anything (lol) but media has a big influence on us (particularly as young adolescents), and it would've been so nice to see such a sweet depiction of queer love at that age.

Also, GREAT note on "highschool parties." My Mom was the same way (she's not stupid), and knew what was up. She may not have necessarily _wanted_ a call from me at 1am or whatever, but I always knew it was an option if I was in trouble or needed her, and I think that actually helped me stay _out_ of trouble sometimes. She always kind of had that mentality, but I think it was actually someone from Church (🫣 lol nothing against Church at its core) who validated her thoughts of "you were a teenager once, and you know they're gonna do it regardless, so instead of getting mad or shaming them, it's better for you to just be there for them, support them, and then talk to them about it afterwards" or something to that effect. And she also always said "Id rather you just be in the house or at a friend's house whose parents I trust, than worry about you running the streets and not knowing what you're up to" (which kinda just makes me think of that scene in Mean Girls where Amy Poehler says "why, do you wanna little? Because if you're gonna drink I'd rather you do it in the house," but less satirical LMAO)

Definitely right and it’s rare to see shows, novels or books that are appropriate content from LGBT

Great comment, and I 100% agree. I’m a little bit older than you, and your comment about media influencing our notion about what is ideal and what to strive for is spot on. Media strongly influences our perceptions of the world around us. For example, watching the news or listening to some politicians you’d think that violent crime is at an all time high and that the US is a crime filled cesspool. The truth is that violent crime has been declining steadily for more than 2 decades with stats from 2022 showing a 50% decline from the early 90s. Also, most LGBTQ storylines 15-20 years ago were written by straight writers who again just reinforced the negative stereotypes. We need more writers like Alice - a member of the queer community helping to change the image of what it means to be gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender. ❤❤

@@jcs1025 thank you! I was mostly exposed to sexually charged shows (like Queer as Folk), stories based in tragedy (like Mysterious Skin or My Own Private Idaho), or things routed in stereotypes (like Will and Grace)... All of which I still love to this day and are important pieces of media in my opinion, so I'm not discounting any of them! I just don't recall being exposed to such sweet depictions of queer love, particularly those that _also_ tackle some heavier topics like Heartstopper does!

You missed the significance of Isac reading Radio Silance. Isac is not in the graphic novels, the forth member of their friend group is Aled Lasr. Radio Silance is set a couple of years in the future of the events of Heartstopper one of the main character is Aled. Isac reading Radio Silance is a shout out to Aled

Yes but in the context of this scene, I think it's an allusion to the elephant in the room.
The show's executive producer said “If you listen really, really carefully, you can hear Isaac explaining to Nick the story of Radio Silence as Tao and Elle are talking about Nick and Charlie,”
