I give it a 6 out of 10. This will definitely stay in my library. David Baldacci …I could go on and on ..😁. I would love to live in Chapters. 😁 Thank you ladies. Hugs..Jane American Dirt was another great one.
The UK remembrance Day is also 11th November. We lay poppy wreaths on remembrance Sunday which is the closest Sunday to remembrance Day. The poppy is taken from flounders field where a lot of men lost there lives. So we wear poppies to show respect for the ones who have lost their life in all the wars.
As an American, the boiling frog metaphor is very much what is happening here. Little by little, our government is boiling us. I’ve read Rock Paper Scissors and it is excellent.
Love the book club I haven’t picked up a book for years and now read your book of the month each month so far! Happy and safe holidays ! Love all the holiday decorations everyone put up this year, so festive and cheerful!
Woke up in Buenos Aires, travelled home to Louisiana, made Book Club but fell asleep before the end so joining the rewatch crew this morning. 😊. Love you two so much. Y’all reignited my love of reading and pushed me to expand my reading to lighter genres. ❤❤❤
The Midnight Library was fantastic ♥️ Mercury was great too. Anything by Chelsea Cain… Where The Light Tends to go was by far my new favourite. I am an avid reader of 45 years. I could go on and on…I am in Ontario too and have boxes of books.
I missed the meeting!! I'm a caregiver for my mother with dementia so I'm not great with dates. The book was awesome! Very descriptive and interesting. I give it a 5. Thanks, Mark, for recommending this for your book club❤
Jess and/or Sandi have yall tag the Good Girls Guide To Murder? I just finished it and wrote it totally got me back into reading!! Love watching you ladies and Jess you amaze me with your strength, it's not a club any of us should be in but your never alone in your fight!!
Yeah, somebody else mentioned about 'nookie'. At least in the UK that is used for something totally unrelated! And definitely x-rated too. So you may have to rethink that. Just a thought!
I’m reading A Kilt For Christmas by Tricia O’Malley. The Enchanted Highlands series. Love both Tricia O’Malley and Ava Miles. Both on my very long list of beloved authors. Thank you for recommending Abby Jimenez. Just finished Part of Your World and Yours Truly. Loved them both.
Hi from Missouri! I am currently reading a Mrs.Murphy mystery called 'Rest in Pieces'. Mrs. Murphy is a tiger cat with a sidekick corgi named Tucker. Not really deep but fun.
I've been here, but just now commenting. Off topic...Jess, you are so adorable! Short hairstyle looks great on you! I know it isn't by choice, but its adorable! Love you guys!
I watched the series first and have now started reading the book. I loved the series but the book is already better. The description of being blind in particular is quite personal to me because my father is blind and I have heard him describe his blindness in the same way. He has also been interested in radio since he was a teenager and is a radio broadcaster with a large antenna on the roof of their house that he climbs into to repair things. I read some pieces to him and he also thought it was so well described. He is now looking for the spoken version in Dutch. I stopped at 17 minutes because I didn't want to hear too much, but when I finish the book I will definitely come back and watch the rest. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Greetings Saskia from the Netherlands
I've had "Corona" and reading was out of the question!!! So I am absent from this live, but I will be reading it in December and come back and watch it for fear of ruining the book! I am so glad the video will wait for me! Thank you ladies!
ANZAC Day. ‘Australian, New Zealand Army Corp” Poppy Day is the April 25th, it commemorates New Zealand soldiers lost in war and honours those that returned. Armistice day is 11.11. XX in New Zealand and was the moment when hostilities ceased on the Western front in 1918.
A lot of people got snow here in the states. Way to soon for it. I used to do black Friday when my kids were little but now I make sure my shopping is done by the end of October. Then I can enjoy the holidays. God Bless you both 🙏 ❤️
I totally missed the book club meeting but I read the book 😂 it was fantastic! Nookies is not weird, lmfao . There’s were some parts that were very difficult to read, the camp towards the end with the girls , the part with Werner’s friend at the university .I would give it a 4.5 simply for the over description and because my favorite character dies and he doesn’t get to be with Marie. Yes! Exactly humanizing both sides and just seeing these kids going through this . I like to imagine that at the end when Marie was old that she got to go to heaven and see everyone she lost and be with Werner.❤😢
I loved the book as well! It helped a lot with the second read since the first read can be very confusing (the constant swaps) and may pick up too slowly for some people which I can understand but I did really like it. What happened to Werner was kind of unexpected though (I did accidentally spoil myself on it by accidentally seeing it on the Wikipedia page so I was kind of prepared) but yeah the book was really good.
A couple of series I have read several times and love are.. The Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. Agent Pendergast series by Douglas Preston and lincoln Child.
There was an art installation to mark the centenary of the start of the 1st World War at the Tower of London in 2014. There was a ceramic poppy made to represent every British military fatality, 888,246. The poppy river spilled over the side of the Tower of London and into the moat, it was incredibly beautiful and shockingly sobering. They toured the country with a smaller installation and ours was over a pit wheel at a mining museum. Do take a moment to look at some pictures, its such a powerful reminder of the horror of war. Lest we forget.
In Australia and New Zealand we have ANZAC Day on April 25th. The date is when troops were sent in to Gallipoli in Turkey in WW1. It was a tremendous loss of life and ended with the withdrawal of our troops. ANZAC Day is a public holiday. We also have services for Remembrance Day on 11th of November but it is not a public holiday.
I didn't get a chance to read it but I watched the series on Netflix and loved the story I think there was a great cast. After watching the series I can only imagine how involved it would have been reading the book. The series I give 8/10
I still call 11 November Armistice Day because I'm old and that's what it was called in my childhood of long ago. I think changing the name was a huge mistake. We already had Memorial Day on 31 May. Remembering the Great War as it used to be called before we had to number them is a worthwhile endeavour. If the messages of the past are forgotten, we will be forced to repeat ourselves because we shall have learned nothing.
I really believe that this is a very well written book, but I had to choose not to read it. I really appreciate all of your insights and things you shared about the book but I knew right off and I appreciate all the tips and warnings, that as somebody who suffers from severe PTSD And have had chronic nightmares and night terrors for decades, and will continue for the rest of my life very very likely. So I stick with especially the supernatural and ghost all that good stuff 😁👍🏼. But I sure appreciate the review on the book.
hearing some of the things you have spoken about there are things in the book that were not in the series but the book is usually more detailed. Maybe you two should check out the series see what you think?
Veterans Day used to be called Armistice Day. It was the day that World War I ended. The poppies represent the fallen soldiers. The USA used to be celebrate Memorial Day on May 31, but was changed to the last Monday in May. Memorial Day is to honor and pay respects to the military lives that were lost. Hi Jessica and Sandy, it is Monday afternoon here. I had a Girl Guide camp all weekend, and just couldn't stay awake last night to join you. It is only 4 days until Summer here in Australia with a top of 27c this afternoon. I am now watching you later. Happy Thanksgiving.
You two are so cute and innocent. I think you might want to avoid the term nookie as the definition is that it is slang for sexual intercourse and there is already a nookie club for people to discuss that subject!😯😬😮
In Flanders Field by John McCrae is a war poem written in 1915. It's a reference to all the red poppies that grew over the remains of fallen soldiers.
I give it a 6 out of 10. This will definitely stay in my library.
David Baldacci …I could go on and on ..😁. I would love to live in Chapters. 😁
Thank you ladies.
Hugs..Jane
American Dirt was another great one.
You are not a nobody. You are a great somebody. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 Love watching you both.

Omgeeeez, I love watching you together both of you and the smiles. Happy holidays to the Brock family!

Marie Bostwick is one of my favorite authors.
Love seeing you two together. 🇳🇿

I’ve read all the Mrs. Murphy’s books and love them. Have read some of her hunt club books too. Mostly a cozy mystery reader.
Currently listening to Maame. It's so relatable to me being the caregiver to my two parents that have since passed

Maybe you could put The Winds Of War by Herman Wouk on your reading list. You don't mind the occasional roman à clef, do you?

Hi!❤
Rock, paper, scissors.
Dang it I missed book club
You two are so cute and innocent. I think you might want to avoid the term nookie as the definition is that it is slang for sexual intercourse and there is already a nookie club for people to discuss that subject!😯😬😮
I liked the book but hated the ending. I give it a 3.5. I just started "The Kiss Curse".
🐉📻
I cant send a dragon until you accept my request!
