Nice video. Always remember we like to see the float. No eed to dot right down as the fish hit the bait. I always use tares with hemp and keep the hemp in a little water on the bank as i,m sure it attracts. I ve been today on the Yare and did well.
Pike appear so often I have to carry my Pike Kit with me, most times you catch them in under a few minutes and then ya fishing picks up 10 minutes later….👍
These videos dude you cant make enough of them, one of the greatest bits about it is it’s my local waters to, keep um coming…👍
Oh I'll be doing lots more. Any suggestions for places to try on the club book?
@@MatchFishingFilms There are massive Bream and Tench in Barkers, one day I had 30 fish for over 200lb’s but it’s also a place where you easily blank, would love to see how you approach a really hard hit and miss water…….
Plantation could throw up some very nice Roach with always the chance of a decent Bream and the outside chance of chub.
One of my favourite’s is double figure Carp on light tackle at Canons Ashby.
You once did a video, to many fish, fishery netting, at Shearsbury Fishery I think it was, and that’s what I think is happened to Mill Cotton, long gone are the days of catching 45 Carp a day, it’s now so mixed fishing maggots you have no idea what’s coming next, you approach could be quite interesting.
But for a pure laugh and Roach Race I had 140 Roach in 2 hours at Grendon Ponds right hand lake, on the whip and maggots, not big Roach but with the right banter can be fun.
In the cold weather I’ve had 15lb bags of Silvers at Hardwater too.
Such a great ticket, even if the price I raising a little for next year…….
In the grand scheme of things it's still a cheap ticket!
I love the natural venues vids keep them coming 👍🏿
Going to be doing lots more
Great vids Joe well done, would like to see a close up of that new gadget on your front right seat box leg, Thanks again
Great video Joe. I enjoyed the live match on Friday to, it's making my quarantine more bearable. 👍🏻🎣
Cheers Chris
Great video again Joe , fished the same bit yesterday and struggled similarly to you , loads of fish there but unfortunately loads of pike !
I had about 10lb in the end which was nice but stopped fishing as I didn't want any more fish taken
@@MatchFishingFilms Good going ! The flow was next to nothing yesterday which I don't think helped , had 2 pike at one time hanging off my keepnet 😱 took it out in the end .
Struggling to see the float Joe….any chance you could paint a few more coats on that bristle next time!? Great vid though.
Ha ha need to buy a longer lens
Thanks for that Joe.
👍
When is the best period of the Yes-R to fish hemp? Great video .
What Brand of Hemp Is that? Where do you buy it? Thank you
I enjoyed the last video, despite the plants in the foreground / field of view. You've also made many wives happy, and saved a few anglers' ear-drums, with your hemp hook-bait cooking hack.
Is it time for a set-up lure rod to be added to the rod holdall?
It's a nice hack. One my dad's friend taught me when I was a kid
And yes I'll take a pike set up in future
Hi Joe Great video… see you’re using the new X70 pole, how does it compare to the out going XS90 pole?
I prefer it personally
Gr8 Vid Joe, have you had a go with the fjuka bait with hemp?
I haven't but I'm sure you would catch fish with it 👍
Great video Joe thanks. Do you think there are more jacks about than usual? the Thames is “infested” with them. Stay safe
Well I've had two sessions now and been mithered both times:(
And why number 12 shot rather than stotz Jo? Surely this makes the rig less versatile in terms of fiddling with the pattern…esp. on light mainlines like .1?
I find the Preston 12s move nicely anyway.
Sorry Joe couldn’t see the float
YOU HAVE SOME DIRT ON YOUR SHIRT FELLA
Did you use boiling water in the flask or just hot?
Boiling
Can't see the float Joe so interesting video but no good to me. Cheers anyway
Have you tried styles easier to move
Yea i used to use them. Nightmare for tangles tho 🤣
What elastic do you use
A 5 through one section
What did you feed to start with.
Half a pot of hemp
Thats the peg a pike took my deeper!lol
Ha ha no way!
A good informative video however I've a few tips for you, I've been fishing the Nen for about 60 years now. Firstly I'd never use a hook smaller than a size 14, I also put the hook right through the hemp leaving plenty of hook showing it then stays on for ages and you can catch several fish on one grain. Even when the water is crystal clear the fish aren't put off at all by the heavier tackle. Secondly don't let the tackle run though the swim, hold it steady in one place, you'll find that you aren't plagued so much by those little 3-4oz fish, I'd expect the roach to be 6oz+ where you were fishing. Sorry but despite your efforts we can't see the float.
Hi Tony, i used to love fishing the Nene, had some great memories on that river. Just a few tips from growing up with some of the best hemp anglers in the country. They mostly use a 20 or 18, B511. Half pace then hold back can get a bite as it fall down again. You can get 20lb in a match pushing it into the split. The float dotted down is increasing bite rate by lessening the resistance when the roach sucks the grain in.
@@peterjayes Many thanks for your reply and the useful tips. Personally I'm not interested in match fishing although I fully appreciate the skills involved, each to his own.
When the hemp is hooked as I described the bites are much slower because the fish don't snatch the hemp off the hook and consequently you don't have to dot the float right down and strike quickly. I always leave plenty of float showing so that you can watch the bites slowly developing which is how they register. Another tip, not exactly hemp fishing is this. When you start catching 8oz+ plus fish on hemp, they are there, switch to a size 10 hook and a big piece of bread flake to go after the big roach, those over a pound, again they're there. My best result using this method was 4 fish weighing just under 5•5lbs, the largest 1•5lbs, I know that that weight wouldn't win any matches but that's not my aim. Don't be put off using a heavier setup, believe me the roach of the Nene aren't.
Killing zone?? Not exactly the positive face of angling. Great video otherwise
