I’m always impressed by what you accomplish using that little lathe. Outstanding as always!
I'm having a blast with my tiny lathe! I was working on another project today!
I love your screwdriver. Very well done. Good to see the lathe getting a work out.
Happy birthday to Chuck. Nice screwdriver, I hope he appreciates it.
Dave.
Chuck loves it! Thanks Dave!
That was so nice of you to surprise Chuck with such a wonderful work of art. Your videography is very good. Congratulations on a well made project.
Thanks! In addition to supervising polishing, Chuck is also director of photography.
Well done, Magdad. You have mastered that little lathe. Imagine what you could do with a metal shop lathe. Happy Birthday to Chuck. That was a fine present! 👍

That lathe really does the job! Beautiful work!
Thanks Tom! I'm having a blast with my tiny lathe!
You’re a true craftsman mate. You work with what you have and produce works of art. Loved the challenge screwdriver but was absolutely floored by Chuck’s present.
Thanks Shedman! Chuck loves his new screwdriver!
Beautiful! Even better, a 2-for-1 entry. Well done!
Thank you!
I have some tools I made in High school decades ago so I appreciate this project. Nice work!
Thanks for watching! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always fun!
Your truly a real craftsman and your choice of stain is perfect for screwdrivers. Thanks for sharing Magdad
Thanks Michael! It's difficult for me not to use Bombay Mahogany on every project!
Beautifully executed and a sweet looking screwdriver. Happy birthday Chuck. Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching.
Thanks from both of us Terry!
I like yours the best so far.
You did a great job on hollow grinding the tip , these will make great gunsmith screwdrivers (they are hollow around). Love the polished brass ferrules and the wood handles look real classy, like antique screwdrivers.
I can't believe how you can get such great results out of that inexpensive little lathe.
Thanks David! Creating a symmetric tip was tricky. That little lathe is a blast!
That's beautiful workmanship!
Thanks Jim!
Very enjoyable video. The Screwdrivers look great! I hope Chuck appreciates how fortunate he is. 🤓
Thanks! I think I'm lucky to have Chuck!
Really beautiful screwdriver! Something to always remember and be proud of for a long time.
Thanks Steve! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always fun!
Hey Magdad, that came out sharp. Five coats was the charm on that one. Happy Birthday to Chuck!
Thanks Mike! Chuck also says thank you!
Bravo, great attention to detail and beautiful result.
Thanks Fred!
What a great job, it is beautiful. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
Thanks David!
Turned out beautiful.I’m working with my mini lathe trying to get to where you are….its not as easy as it looks!
Thanks John! The improved tool rest really made a difference, along with better tools.
Another masterpiece Mr. Magdad! The bombay mahogany never disapoints, thanks for sharing and take care!
Thanks! Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
Great job!! They both turned out very nice. Happy birthday Chuck!!
Thanks from both of us WM3!
Truly a piece of functional art.
Thanks! That tiny lathe is fun to play with!
Great job! it looks like it just came out of an old school catalog!
Thanks Brian!
Thats the best screwdriver entry I've seen so far. I could watch you on the lathe all day! Great job!
Thanks! I was working on another tiny lathe project this afternoon!
Great lathe work. Happy Birthday Chuck.
Thanks from both of us!
Super sharp screwdriver. I li😊ke the handle design
Thanks John!
The Bombay Mahogany is a real home run! Ive seen so many comfy looking handles in this challenge and these two are no exception. The little one was such a nice touch!
Thanks! Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
Wow that came out beautiful! Watching that lathe work was pretty cool, nice job MagDad!
Thanks! I've got some more tiny lathe action coming up this week!
Beautiful MagDad! Everything is perfect. That little lathe does an impressive job.
Thanks Bill! That tiny lathe is a blast to fool around with!
Great project, Magdad! Super job! I knew you'd use the Bombay Mahogany since it's you 'go to' stain. Looks great! Nice birthday gift for Chuck. 😊👍😎
Thanks! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always fun!
Beautiful job on the screwdriver, Very nice. Plus a very happy 4th birthday to Chuck, Festus also says happy birthday.
Thanks Dale! And Chuck thanks you and Festus for the birthday wishes!
You never fail to amaze me MD, with your newly found lathe turning skills and just what the tiny lathe can do, well done Sir ✌❤ Bob.
PS. This amazing little lathe has literally halved the time it takes me to produce my fishing float bodies !
Thanks Robert! I'm glad you're having success with the tiny lathe!
Great job on both the screwdrivers and Happy Birthday to Chuck.
Thanks Thomas!
Beautiful job on the screwdriver entry. You've used the Bombay stain on projects before, and I think it really works well with vintage tool restorations.
Thanks Pat! Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
Really beautiful result Magdad, that must have been quite tough to get such a uniform hollow grind off the sander - btw that old sander sounded remarkably smooth from here !
I'm sure there will be other excellent entries yo the challenge, but you show just what one can aspire to achieving with a modest shop and tools !
Thanks Andy! That old sander is LOUD! I make sure Chuck and I wear ear protection when I'm using it!
Beautiful pair of matching screwdrivers! Happy Birthday Chuck!
Thanks! Chuck loves his little screwdriver!
Very nicely done 357. High quality.
Thanks Randy! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always fun!
What a lovely little thing!! Good idea about using the top wheel on the belt sander - I used a Dremel sanding drum to get the hollow-grind, but might try that on another one 😀👍🏻🛠️
Thanks Armando! It was a fun project!
Another classic creation. Very nice.
Thanks Bill!
That looks beautiful Magdad. Nicely done. Happy birthday Chuck 🎂 🥳 🎉
Thanks Ivan! Chuck also says thanks!
I have to say, WOW! Awesome job! I really like the handle. Thank You for sharing!
Thanks Jack! It's fun making custom handles!
@@357magdad Ok being a newbe I have to ask. Why did you shellac the handle then sand it before you put stain on it. Asking for a friend 😂
@@jackthompson2132 The ScoutCrafter scraper was the first project I used that Behr water based stuff on and it seemed to soak in to the wood and make it a little blotchy. I used the shellac to keep it from soaking in so much.
@@357magdadThank You I was wondering about that. I have had that problem in the past. I will definitely try it and the stain in the future.
Hooray! Bombay Mahogany colored handle, very Poplar. Looks great, like the hollow ground tip. Chuck’s screwdriver is cute, also.
Thanks Larry! You know Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
Awesome job Magdad, those came out just great. Good tip to scribe that center line to keep your grind even. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks David! Getting that tip symmetric was tricky!
Well done! And Happy Birthday Chuck.
Thanks Tony!
Beautiful work Magdad. Both screwdrivers look fantastic. Happy Birthday Chuck.
Thanks John! Chuck also says thanks!
Tell Chuck to "Have a Goodun'..."
Great looking screwdrivers as usual,
Thanks! I'll let him know!
Turned out nice, time to open up the magdad tool company. Quality tools at fair prices. Thanks.
Thanks Joe!
You sure get maximum use from your minimum lathe. Great little screwdriver.
I'm having a blast with my tiny lathe!
Very nice! I would love to have a set of screwdrivers like this. 👍🏻
Thanks! If I'm gonna go into production, I'm gonna need a bigger lathe! 😁
Looks fantastic! You did a real nice job! 👍
Thanks Frank!
It is amazing what you can do with that little lathe😁
I'm having a blast fooling around with my tiny lathe!
You and Chuck did it again. Magdad you really amaze me. Thanks, Chris
Thanks Chris! ScoutCrafter's projects are always fun!
5:29 the rear plate moves!🫣 Turned, no pun intended, out good though.👍
Sometimes I push that tiny lathe a little too hard!
Hey !bonjour Magdad vraiment le plus joli tournevis que j'ai vu. La couleur du manche est vraiment superbe. ❤
Thanks Patrick! Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
You do lovely work. Great job.
Thanks Ben! It's fun fooling around in the shop!
Hi. Great job. That is really beautiful. 👍👍❤...
Thanks Larry!
usual high standard great !! happy birthday Chuck😊
Thanks from both of us Dave!
Seems your proficiency and quality of your work steadily improves...this driver is a perfect example...the crafterman will have a tough time of it to pick a first place...your lathe work is good maybe it's time to start carving Embellishments on some...im a pusher...😂...🖖
Thanks! I'm having a blast with my tiny lathe!
Its not a contest, but if it were, you won! 👍 TWICE! 😁👍😎
Thanks! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always a lot of fun!
Very nicely done!
Thanks!
The best of the challenge so far great job happy birthday to Chuck
Thanks Larry! Chuck says thanks!
Magdad, you knocked both of those screwdrivers out of the park!⚾️ How did i know you would choose that color? 🥇😉
Thanks Roger! I have a tough time not using Bombay mahogany on every project!
Very Nice! Happy Birthday!
Thanks!
Chuck's become quite the sophisticated man about town, I think he needs a Top Hat & Monocle to complete his look, maybe an Ascot too, don't want the ladies thinking he's too old & stuffy just yet.
He's the type that likes to wear sunglasses indoors...
Outstanding!!!
Thanks!
Looks like a winner to me!
Thanks Gary!
Looks really nice.
Thanks Richard!
Great Job!!!!
Thanks Kenneth!
Happy Birthday Chuck 🎉🎂! Magdad what a great job on both drivers.
Thanks from both of us!
I'm sorry I miss Chuck's birthday and happy birthday an awesome video thank you
Chuck and I both thank you!
The little one is the best.
Chuck loves it!
Happy birthday Chuck.
He says thanks!
Beautiful.🤘
Thanks Terry!
Very nice job Magdad.
Thanks Dale!
Beautiful!
Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's entry tomorrow!
Look at that Bombay Mahogany would you, looking good.
My favorite color!
awesome job!! How does the water-based stain compare in number of coats to oil based? i picked up a couple of colors of water based stain at the dollar store but haven't tried them yet.
Thanks Patrick! I was applying 3-4 coats of the oil based Polystain. The Behr seems to need 4-5.
Excellent job
Thank you!
Well, good job. I must say.
Thanks Kim!
Nice work, looks awesome
Thanks!
Beautiful job - nice to see Bombay Mahogany being used again. Chuck is 4? Where does the time go? :)
Thanks Chris! Time flies!
Nice job.
Thanks John!
very impressive
A take-away from this for me is; A limited use tool. like the lathe you are using, when used within its limitations, can do great things. Things way beyond what one would think at first glance.
Don't expect this to do things beyond its capabilities, rather expand your imagination to what it is capable.
Again, very impressive
Thanks! I'm having a blast with my tiny lathe!
Nice Job!
Thanks George!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Great video.
Thanks! ScoutCrafters challenges are always fun!
👍
Why did you not use heat and a hammer to make the tip? Wouldn’t it have spread out wings near the very end like lots of screwdrivers have? Also why does no one try to make a Phillips tip?
A traditional screwdriver tip would not have fit in the chuck of my lathe. The geometry of a Phillips tip is difficult to duplicate by hand. It would be easier and more practical to make a bit driver.
NICE
Thanks John!
I was surprised that you didn't use the screwdriver.
The Behr Bombay Mahogany dries fast, but I didn't want to handle it too much until the finish had some time to fully cure.
Awesome
Thank you!
Hooray! Bombay Mahogany wins again!
Bombay Mahogany is my favorite color!
Nice!
Thanks Joseph! ScoutCrafter's challenges are always fun!
