But if they’re in boxes and buckets on the floor, it’s time to let some go. 280, 600, 1000, where’s the line. Fact is, if you’re having fun doing it, GO BIG. Happy new year everyone.

I only have a few dozen screwdrivers, so not close to what you would consider "normal" numbers of screwdrivers.
Seeing the driver bits reminds me of the many different patterns of "security" driver bits. Perhaps a good topic for a future video. Of course no matter how many such bits you have, there will be some piece of equipment which needs a different style.
    Happy New Year.

FANTASTIC collection Magdad. I find you can make screwdrivers into all sorts of usefull specialised tools, so you need plenty to adapt for different purposes. I probably have 40 - 50 screwdrivers here but have my 'go to' screwdrivers in a special easy reach drawer. I also like your punch collection. I have about a dozen, and there again, they are adaptable to specific needs. Thanks for all your great videos, and I'm looking forward to following you throughout 2024. Happy New Year. Take care 🙂

I actually have a lockbox loaded with various different styles of acetate-handle flathead screwdrivers. I probably have about 20 or more in just that box. For me, it's all about the tactile feel & design differences of the handles.
Whereas in my main toolbag full of Craftsman tools, I keep USA and SB&D Craftsman screwdrivers (Maybe 10+). They were my first "true" screwdrivers with acetate handles, and I find them both visually appealing and very comfortable to use/ work with. Plus the lifetime warranty is such great insurance if the Philips tips finally round out or snap.
Then I've got an oddball toolbox full of a buncha random tools, including all Great Neck or Great Neck-produced screwdrivers (Lowe's Project Source, Hyper Tough) Included in there is a 5/16"x6" wooden handle USA-made Great Neck screwdriver, which can take such a beating. It's really well made.
I keep a #2 Phillips and 1/4" flathead acetate Husky screwdriver (Bought in 2022) in my room for the occassional "pry something open from boredom" Plus another #2 Philips Craftsman to unscrew blenders and random electrical appliances.
There's one antique wood handle Stanley sweetheart turnscrew, about 4-5" overall length. That one has its own spot in a mini drawer.
I have such a soft spot for the Rosco/AMSCO/Maxxam style black and red handles with the uncoated, round shanks. Also the Stanley Thrifty handles. Of course, the classic Craftsman handles. Then also the newer (2010+) Husky acetate screwdrivers, since that was the first "fancy/premium" screwdriver I saw, with the glass-clear acetate handle. Though I prefered when they had the conical, solid paint ferrule as opposed to the new (2020+) ones with the wider, fluted clear ferrule. My dad had the 6-piece Pratt-Read made Husky set, although the only surviors of that set are the P0, 3/16 and 1/4" screwdrivers.
Oh, and my tool cabinet in the barn has the Pittsburgh 32-piece set with the case. My dad gave me that one to make space in his truck, so I've used it ever since. I also keep the 5-piece Wiha Soft Finish screwdriver set in a different drawer for use as delicate, percision screwdrivers on electrical and machine screws.
I also learned of a way to swap handles/ shanks on acetate handle screwdrivers. You clamp the shank in a vise, with the shank parallel to the ground. Then you heat the handle with a heat gun, but not too close or it blisters and bubbles the acetate. After, you fit an 8" or 10" adjustable wrench tight around the shank, and gently hammer against it it to pop off the handle. This may marr the adjustable's thumbscrew, so use a wrench you don't mind beating on. Then you can drill out the pilot hole for a bigger shank, or swap shanks of a different tip/ length. Then to seat the shank, you just set in into the hole, and with a dead blow you tap the top of the handle until the shank goes all the way into the hole, kinda like if you're using a screwdriver as a punch to knock out a pin. Heating the top of the shank helps it melt through the acetate better, but if it's too hot it can actually bubble and liquify the acetate. Finally, if you want a really smooth, glassy finish on the handle, you can spray it down with brake clean. In my experience this can cause certain handle paints to also bleed off and stain the handle (Craftsmans are one example)
Sorry about the text vomit, I just really, really like screwdrivers and your video is like a fantasy land for me XD

I do believe you have an addiction problem. I think I’m using the first six set I bought with my first cat in 1972. It’s missing half of them as the hubby borrowed them and lost them. I have added to them since them with one electric hand size folding kind. It doubles as my drill too. These have served me well for all my needs over the last 50 plus years. I also own my only two hammers.(claw and tack) now my pliers is something else as my hubby has borrowed and lost numerous ones I bought. Now I have some he isn’t allowed to borrow unless he puts them in my hands immediately after he’s has used them. Beat that Magdad.

What a fun way to start the New Year, so thanks Magdad, that seems a perfectly reasonable collection to me, but I suspect my wife may agree with Mrs Magdad ! 😉
I think I said on Scoutcrafter that I had somewhere in the range 100-200 but watching how yours quickly mounted up it could top the 200 after all !?
My screwdriver owning journey has been very similar to yours so I can relate, thanks for the links to the other collections I'll check those out too.
It has been my intention (for some time) to share some pictures of my tools and restorations on Instagram, but it's stalled due to care obligations, which ironically also sometimes adds to the list of old junk requiring restoration, hoping I can start in a small way soon, perhaps that should be my resolution ?

The Leatherman "knockoff" is actually a Buck 360. Very nice multi tool. I'd be happy to send you several Leatherman knockoffs in trade. 😊 i blame you (only in the nicest words) for my collection of screw holding screwdrivers. I have others and myself to blame for the 100+ additional screwdrivers, 50+ nut drivers, and dozens of punches and chisels.

Then of course when friends or neighbors move out of the area, they call me to "donate" their tools. Don't give up, there are plenty of good screwdriver deals out there to be had. Those little bits actually multiply on their own, but they are tough. I've seen coffee cans full of them at yard sales. I'm feeling kind of wimpy- I only have 30 screwdrivers but my brother and girlfriend think I have way too many. These aren't collectables on purpose, they have distinctive jobs. I might have to try three or four before I find the one that fits a certain screw that I really don't want to mess up. By the way, I thought I ought get a good set of those concave drivers for my guns. It was brand we know but maybe Chinese knockoff- very thin blades that bent. Really worthless. I have made my custom spanners out of screwdrivers. No offense, some folks know how to use it, but I've hated pegboard since I was ten.
