31:33 Why am I just now noticing this Scream 2 parallel? A reporter getting punched in the face like Gale does, immediately followed by “Did you get that?” 😭
Fun fact: Before Reginald VelJohnson was cast as Al Powell, Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, Gene Hackman, & Robert Duvall were considered for the role. Matty, whenever you start watching Invincible Season 2, pay attention to Principal Winslow. That’s Reginald. Looks just like him too. Winslow is a reference to his most famous role as Carl Winslow on the 80s sitcom Family Matters.
Fun fact: Bruce Willis, who was mostly known from the TV series Moonlighting, initially turned down the role of John due to contractual obligations to the show. When his costar became pregnant, the show’s production was stopped for 11 weeks, freeing him up to take the role. His casting was also kinda controversial at the time because it wasn’t normal, like it is today, for TV actors to do film or for film actors to do TV.
Fun fact: The role of John McClane was offered to various major stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, and Harrison Ford.
Fun fact: This was Alan Rickman’s film debut. He almost turned down the role of Hans because he didn’t think it was the kind of film he wanted to make.
Welcome to the party, pal! This movie is based on the 1979 novel NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, which was a sequel to the movie, THE DETECTIVE, which starred Frank Sinatra in 1968.
It's not easy watching this movie anymore knowing the real life situation with Bruce willis, It is so sad that his illness is getting worse. 😢 He is such a legend and one of the greatest actors alive. Die hard will forever be a masterpiece! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
30:15 What an iconic shot! I love how this is pretty identical to Dumbledore’s fall from the astronomy tower & Alan Rickman was there for both 😏 Makes me wonder if the shot in Half-Blood Prince was an intentional homage to Die Hard or just coincidental.
Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance (3), and Live Free and Die Hard (4) are all great movies. I think 4 is underrated so I'd love for you to get to it. So glad you've enjoyed it. Merry Christmas man.
I still remember the commotion back just before the 4th one's release when Bruce Willis came online to one of the movie forums and spoke with the mods there telling them how good Live Free is going to be. The mod's faces where smiling ear to ear as they were chatting with him.
One of my fav performances by Alan Rickman was as Metatron in Dogma. Great movie, stacked cast. Also a great performance from the late George Carlin as well…
I’ve seen it uploaded to UA-cam in its entirety as well so it’s out there, although due to Harvey Weinstein owning the rights you can’t stream it or buy it anywhere…so a reaction is technically possible and yes, he was incredible as the Metatron.
This movie makes me want to rewatch Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Andy Samberg’s character Jake Peralta would never shut up about Die Hard because it’s his all-time favorite movie 😭
My brother bought the Die Hard Blu-ray collection back in 2015 & it came with a replica of Nakatomi Plaza 🔥 I’m actually watching this video from his apartment & looking at the tower at the same time right now.
Someone always says in these comments , the Hans fall look of surprise - apparently they said they drop him on 3 but actuualy let him go on 2 or something like that
Die Hard was a hit at the box office and spawned 4 sequels, none of which were as good as the original imo except the 3rd film Die Hard with a Vengeance. It’s the only one that has the same director as the first. Die Hard would also go on to earn 4 Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Effects Editing, & Best Sound.
Other lowkey Christmas movies btw: The Long Kiss Goodnight and Eyes Wide Shut. The Long Kiss is VERY much like Die Hard to the point that it I could tell you it was made by the same writers and director and you probably wouldn't know until you looked it up. Eyes Wide Shut is absolutely nothing like Die Hard and is a psychological drama about infidelity and paranoia. It was also Kubrick's last movie before he passed. Probably not the best react content due to all the nudity but it is proper kino.
20:59 everyone comments on how people could smoke in airports but no one mentions how ludicrous the idea of someone like Hans Gruber reading Time magazine would be today
Bruce Willis movies: Die Hard 2 is good but not terribly exceptional compared to 1. Die Hard 3 is great fun. The Fifth Element is a classic and a must watch. Lots of fun there. The Sixth Sense is considered a bit of a classic and was M. Night Shyamalan's big breakout movie. 12 Monkeys is really cool, weird and grimy. Armageddon is slick, funny, ridiculous popcorn blockbuster fun.
I think he realized Hans isnt a hostage when he said Clay and he was on that list. but he was listed as WM, which im pretty sure is waste management. Clay is a janitor. So why is he up here wearing a suit? Thats what I thought at least
I thought WM was William M(middle initial). Often Bill is another name for William. So I thought the suspicion was more that he was there randomly. But he wasn't sure, gave the unloaded gun just in case, as a test
@@adrianhempfing2042 could’ve been. I’m not sure. I didn’t notice any of the other names having anything more than last name. But I could be wrong. I just saw a quick glance of it
25:30 Good to see you made the Right Decision MattyReacts , Definitely a Christmas movie . Damn, now no punch on with me and you for disagreeing with me lol
10:55 Man that scene always bothered me. OK, I get that we have to give some leeway regarding the realism but I feel it on my fingertips every time and know just how impossible it is to grab onto that slippery metal, after falling two floors down with just the tips of your fingers lol.
It ain’t christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza, baby. One of my fave Bruce Willis movies is the Fifth Element (which also stars Mila Jovovitch and Gary Oldman AND has a scene where someone else gets shot at while crawling through ductwork). Dogma and Galaxy Quest are the Alan Rickman standouts for me…but you can’t stream Dogma anywhere unless you find a bootleg copy on UA-cam.
UA-cam better pay you well from this video. Since I’ve already watched this a few days ago, I decided to let a 20-min ad play in full right now during my rewatch 😭
The guy who wrote the movie (Jeb Stuart) says it is. I love Bruce but if the guy who actually wrote it says he intended it as a Christmas movie, that trumps anything the guy reading his lines says.
It's funny to me how Alan Rickman (rip) is a generational thing - to me he will always be Hans Gruber , To MattyReacts age people he will always be Snape. To non action , non HPotter people he will be Love Actually
Greetings from Finland man!!! I highly recommend you to check out Last boy scout starring Bruce Willis it's underrated movie n Die hard movies are good till 5th movie.. If you ask me!!! Happy holidays and as always.. "I'll be back" 😎

One of the killers even comes back for one last scare at the end too lol

Diehard most certainly IS a Christmas movie!
You should also see Alan Rickman in "Dogma," "Quigley Down Under," and "Robin Hood, Prince Of Thieves."
Fun fact: The role of John McClane was offered to various major stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, and Harrison Ford.
Maybe Mel Gibson could have played a similar character but the others can be a bit too serious or too big to play him.
You used to be able to smoke on the planes. I remember when i was little playing with the ashtrays in the armrests to click them open and closed.
Great username! 🐾
Pre 9/11, law enforcement could carry service weapons on planes.
Because of this, the studio was contractually obligated to offer the role of John McClane to him even though he was 70 at the time.
There has been a long debate about this movie being a Christmas movie or not. I put your vote as yes! Good job!
The director has said, it's a Christmas movie!

"You really think you stand a chance against us, Mr Matty?"
"Yippee-ki-yay, this IS a Christmas movie motherf--!"
Thanks, Matty! 💥 John McTiernan directed this one. ෴ May your days be merry and bright... and may your 2024 (and beyond) be peaceful and pleasant.

You think this is crazy, watch Violent Night with David Harbor and John Leguizamo.
He’s actually planning on posting that tomorrow 😏
yeeeee posting that tomorrow !
I like John Leguizamo , one of his best/ worst films ... The Pest .
Such a stupid comedy film
