The lokinet looks an amazing and new key for privacy in future. But , isn't the first node in the chain will have the IP address of the user just like TOR?
Networks like Lokinet and Tor aren't designed to hide who uses them (although this can be achieved by connecting using a proxy). They are designed to disconnect the user from their web activity. :)
Stunningly simple, my only comment would be....its free...we get why, for building market effects, other people will be put off unfortunately due to Facebook etc...if it’s free, we are the product mentality
How does Lokinet stay afloat or maintained financially? Is there an organization backing it? Or perhaps community donations? If there is a way to donate, can you donate with crypto currencies such as Monero?
service node providers pay the gas fee in exchange for $OXEN. The future idea of the project is to let users buy $OXEN to be prioritized by the network to surf the internet faster while having all the benefits of a private web router. Until that is possible, it's really just node service providers who have to pay the bill for everything. They bet on $OXEN and its future appliance.
Hi Mia, there are videos describing the steps for migrating a website using Nginx or Apache to Lokinet on our channel. If you need help setting up the Wordpress site, feel free to reach out via team@loki.network!
@@stu7646 so, its printing money to pay to them? That isn't really getting paid though. If I made my own currency and started a company paying workers with it, I couldnt reasonably say I was "paying them" since even if by some miracle people started accepting my new currency at stores, since I just keep printing more of it and never naturally acquiring any it's just destined inflation and since no-one would want to accept money which inflates by its very design premise, they wouldn't. @@Kuznet609 okay, I understand that, but for most crypto you don't get just paid it for running a server, it takes cryptographic work to get ANYTHING. Unless there is a whitepaper that somehow details an algorithm that regulates how much server hosters would get paid in such a way that the money itself can't be embezzled or whatnot (much as things like BTC have algorithms that auto-pay miners) then it's down to humans minting the money, then just paying the servers. There isn't any confidence in that system, if someone wanted to they could just mint all of the remaining money and keep it (extreme example of course in that instance you would probably just roll it back and branch the chain but there are far more subtle ways to abuse systems) In other words there isn't, or at least, shouldn't, be any confidence in the system unless they developed an algorithm to certify server hosting in a way that can't be spoofed, manipulated, or otherwise countered. This is why crypto is so hard to explain to people who don't have a large computer background, it has all of those steps that make it fundamentally different to FIAT money (although technically speaking I don't think any major currency is still gold backed it's kept the name so, whatever) because it uses cryptographic algorithms to ensure work was done and paid in the right amount. Unless you can get that level of cryptographic certainty for server hosting, it's not really going to be worth anything. And that's just the first step, it's no secret many crypto currencies just never see adoption, so you would need people to actually value that "payment" in the first place. Maybe I'm missing something, but unless they developed a borderline magical algorithm and the coin already has a lot of adoption, I'm not really confident. If I'm wrong I'd want to know obviously since this system *_does_* sound really good, but that doesn't mean I'll just ignore the issues I see.
Hi! Your IP is hidden whenever you access .loki addresses. If you want to hide your IP when you're accessing normal websites, you need to use an exit node as well. docs.oxen.io/products-built-on-oxen/lokinet/exit-nodes
I like the Australian accent used in this video.
LOKI MOON!!!
Sometimes doesn't sum up: the network is free to use, but router and exit nodes are get paid. From what sources?
Paid through oxen
Wow how far we've come over the past few years

@@SessionTV you've contradicted yourself with this comment, against what is said in the video.
@@AlphizzleMusicit's not a contradiction. You can't hide who *uses* the network, but you can hide what they *do on it*.

A fair point Alex, we believe Lokinet should be free and open-source because everyone has the right to privacy and security!
@@SessionTV sorry for replying to a year old comment but I was wondering, if its free how are the servers getting paid?
What’s the difference between Lokinet and the Nym network?
is there a tutorial on how to use it? I just downloaded the App on windows and I have no idea how to connect?

They take crypto for donations
Very good project . Love from Bangladesh .
Can I contribute to the project ? Is the project fully open source???
Yes, it is fully open source.

hold on, if its free who is paying the servers?
It runs over the Oxen Network. The service node operators are rewarded Oxen for contributing to the network.
